• Great Location, Great Price

"Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed for 11 nights in Hale Mahina A-403. We were two couples and the condo was great for us.
The location is right on the beach, and the pool is in the center of the units. Because the complex is small (around 50 units) the pool, pool area, and beach were uncrowded - generally not more than a dozen or so within sight. We loved that the location of the pool allows you to see the ocean and sunsets from the pool, or the grassy area.
The beach is small but perfect. There's a sandy area for ocean entry and swimming, and there are rocky and coral areas for snorkeling. When there were waves, surfing and boogie boarding is also right out front. EVERYTHING was right there.
It was very hot the first couple of days. People said it was hotter than usual, but other locals said it's always hot in September. There is no AC in this condo, or in the complex, or in most condos in this area. There were fans, but we went to Longs and bought another. We were sleeping in the loft, and it was quite hot for the first couple of nights. It was hot every night, actually, but bearable with the fans and only a sheet. After the first couple of days, the tradewinds picked up and it was more comfortable.
I'd dump the carpet in the bedrooms and just go with tile or wood. The living areas are tiled, which keeps it cleaner and cooler.
The kitchen was well-equipped and we ate in a lot. We used the BBQs down by the pool. They require charcoal, but are cleaned each morning by Larry, the fabulous onsite manager.
We loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat."

  • Great condo in Maui

"Great condo! You won’t find a condo that provides as many amenities as Maui Sands. Our stay was eight nights in June with three TEENAGE grandkids. They had the time of their life - - even if it was with the grandparents! We were all impressed with the many, great accommodations and unbelievable view. The location is mid-way between the Kaanapali Resort area and Kaapalua. The kids especially enjoyed walking the town of Lahaina, seeing the beautiful, large, banyan tree, enjoying the different shops and wanting to try out all the different restaurants. The kids enjoyed great snorkeling right out the back of the condo, literally, right outside the condo’s back door. You walk down a few steps and are in the ocean water. They enjoyed the beach so much they didn’t have a chance to use the pool. The trade winds were so enjoyable. No need to use an air conditioner. The sofa bed in the living room provided the lull of the ocean for a good night’s sleep. The kitchen was well supplied to accommodate cooking/eating in vs. always having to dine out. The three cookbooks were hilarious to read (yes, for those who like to read cook books – you will know what I mean when you see these). The stainless steel sink is big enough to do laundry, however, the condo provides a laundry area equipped with great commercial washers and dryers close by. The condo also provides eco-friendly soaps, shampoos, sheets, etc., as well as the most fought over amenity, the full body massage chair (kids liked even better than Netflix)! They did, however, enjoy the big screen, high definition TV and with 3D glasses. Who can’t watch Avatar over and over again in 3-D? Ryan was more than accommodating to ensure our visit was the most enjoyable ever. He was also great with providing recommendations for a number of places to visit and restaurant suggestions. We definitely will return for a visit (without the grandkids)!"

Honokowai Travel Tips

Affordable Tropical Vacations in Honokowai Vacation Rentals

How can you stay in one of the world's most beautiful tropical locations at an affordable rate? By using Vacation Rentals by Owner. This allows vacationers to experience West Maui through Honokowai condos; you rent a person's private residence to stay in for your trip. While you're there, you can sometimes get lower rates than a hotel, you can put more people in one place - dividing up the cost. And you can use a full kitchen to cook healthy, affordable meals using local fare, instead of patronizing restaurants. Honokowai vacation rentals are a good ticket to an unforgetable West Maui experience.

The Quiet Beauty of Hawaii

Honokowai is a small town on the west coast of the island of Maui, which is quieter and less populated than the 'big island' of Oahu. Honokowai hosts a state park beach, and is only a few minutes from world famous golf courses in Kanaapali. Many vacationers in Honokowai find that if they just go outside their condo and down to the beach, they can lose half of the day just experiencing the sun and the waves, and watching local wildlife, like the sea turtles that come to the coves to feed.

Finding Your Way to Maui

Getting to Maui is easy; there are daily flights from Honolulu; Maui also has its own airport, though flights from the mainland United States are more expensive. Maui is most famous for its surfing, but the island is also home to massive national and state parks that protect the island's rainforests and coral reefs. The pristine environment is cherished by locals and travelers alike. On Maui, you can climb mountains and go snorkeling in the same day - if you have the energy, that is. But if you do, you can use Vacation Rentals by Owner to crash in your West Maui lodging.
