  • Christmas Getaway from Chicago Weather

"Our family stayed at this property for 10 days over Christmas. As advertised this unit is actually just a few steps from the ocean seawall, and 25 or so steps from the pool. The unit is spacious, nicely decorated and updated, comfortable, and very well appointed. The kitchen has virtually everything one needs to prepare meals with a large variety of cooking utentsils, pots/pans, dishes, and appliances. Eating out in Lahaina is fairly pricey so the kitchen is a big plus. There is an abundance of spices and mariandes. The view is magificent with the islands of Lanai and Molokai on the left and right respectively. Most days we saw whales fairly close and green sea turtles right below us. Note the pool is not heated so it was cold every day (upper 60's I imagine) and it took a little time to adjust. Nevertheless we swam every day. A few years back we stayed at the condo cmlex next door and thought it was terrific, but this unit was better hands down."

  • A Little slice of heaven

"I just can't say enough about this place, Tim and Beth were wonderful to deal with via email. We stayed here for 10 perfect days, the condo is just as described in the ad, it is indeed a little gem. It is a quiet complex, but there are children around, everyone says hello or good morning, great conversations can be started with a cup of tea in the morning up on the terrace by the ocean! Great food markets within walking distance, and the local fishing store gave us a great tip when renting a snorkel, he said the turtles like to come up onto the sand right next to the public beach to sun themselves. Lots of crabs on the rocks by the terrace, saw whales breaching, it was just lovely. One of the things I liked the most about Maui Sands is that it has an intimacy about it, there are lots of beautiful flowers and shrubs, so the condos are quite private, you are not looking straight across at someone in another condo. If you like that kind of environment rather than the big resorts, this is for you. We bbq'd a ton while we were there, and never had to wait to cook. I just feel really lucky to have found this."

  • Great stay at Maui Sands

"We stayed in the unit for 12 days in November and LOVED it. The location is amazing, especially with a young child. We could walk down to the park every day and my daughter could decide if she wanted to swim at the little beach there (there is coral that acts as a break so it's a great, calm baby beach) or play on the park structures. We loved being able to walk down to the farmer's market on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - their macaroons are to die for!!! The setting is wonderful with great landscaping. We used the outside grills almost daily which was a great addition and we loved walking down to the shore to watch the sun set. Laundry on site was also nice. Staff and Brie were amazing when our hot water ran out and got it fixed almost immediately. Our only complaint was that it was a little dirty around the edges, though totally manageable. Also, there is only AC in the living room. Now, normally when we visit Hawaii, we would never dream of turning on the AC. Unfortunately, because of the way this unit is situated, the breeze doesn't flow through like a unit that is oceanfront would. We struggled because we would have to keep the bedroom door shut when our daughter was napping and then the bedroom would get warm. If you're able to keep doors open for better circulation you should have no problems. We normally stay in Ka'anapali but we enjoyed this so much we will probably return here! :)"
