"My husband and I just spent 2 weeks in this wonderful condo. We have stayed at Hale Mahina before but this is the first time in this unit. I sometimes hesitate to write reviews because I don't like to give away secrets about amazing places because then everyone tries to stay here and then it's always booked up when I want to go. Having said that, the unit is everything as described. It is is very clean and well maintained. The condo has a great layout, well appointed kitchen, comfy bed and of course amazing views!!! We like the fact that this is a smaller complex and it is very quiet and relaxing. The grounds are beautiful as well. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai and watching the whales, turtles, turquoise water, sunsets and rainbows. We will definitely be back!"

  • Fantastic! (Even during a hurricane)

"I sit here as I write this review on the last night of our honeymoon stay at this lovely condo. We are going to miss it so much! First, I can't say enough about how great our experience was from beginning to end. From my first exchange with Jeanette I was immediately at ease and could tell that she and her husband are really passionate about making sure their guests are taken care of. We stayed during the approach of hurricane Iselle, which was a little scary, and Kent and Jeanette went out of their way to make us comfortable, even inviting us to stay at their house uphill and inland if we felt the slightest bit uncomfortable weathering the storm at the condo, being that it was on the water. We didn't need to stay with them in the end but we were so impressed with their thoughtfulness and concern for our safety. We have traveled a lot, and this kind of special attention to guests, is definitely rare and very much appreciated. Now the condo itself…..wonderful! When we walked in it just FELT clean…every surface, nook and cranny was spotless and not in a "wiped down" fast sort of way. The cabinets were stocked with all we could need. The bed is so comfortable we're trying to figure out how to sneak it out and bring it on the plane with us. The viewfrom the lanai is unbeatable!! You can see both islands of Molokai and Lanai and you sit right on the gorgeous turquoise sea. Just this afternoon we were swimming out back and watched a sea turtle up close, eating from the reef offshore. The pool and hot tub are wonderful at sunset. The location of the condo is perfect, as well. Very close to Lahaina town, where we ate at several fantastic restaurants and also enjoyed meeting Kent and Jeannette for drinks. (Truly fantastic people!) Kapalua is just north, where we snorkeled Kapalua Bay and had a romantic dinner at Merriman's. Before our arrival, Jeanette sent suggestions of things to do on Maui, which was very nice. She also sent clearly laid out directions to the condo and thorough information about it, which was so helpful. It was an easy drive from the airport. The condo is in walking distance to a farmers market, local eateries and a nearby beach park. All in all, in spite of the hurricane scare, our stay was wonderful…. A wonderful condo in paradise like this one makes for an incredible vacation. A wonderful condo in paradise like this one with owners like Kent and Jeannette makes it a stellar one!"

  • A gem of a condo

"My husband and I looked through quite a few units when we were deciding where to stay for our vacation. After much hemming and hawing we decided on this unit. Wow. There's always some trepidation when it comes to these choices, but all that went away as soon as arrived. The unit was just what we wanted. I will never forget the view from our lanai. Some unbelievable sunsets. The resort was quiet and clean, just like our unit. From cable TV to kitchen supplies, we had everything we needed. Thank you for providing us fantastic accommodations."

Honokowai Travel Tips

Affordable Tropical Vacations in Honokowai Vacation Rentals

How can you stay in one of the world's most beautiful tropical locations at an affordable rate? By using Vacation Rentals by Owner. This allows vacationers to experience West Maui through Honokowai condos; you rent a person's private residence to stay in for your trip. While you're there, you can sometimes get lower rates than a hotel, you can put more people in one place - dividing up the cost. And you can use a full kitchen to cook healthy, affordable meals using local fare, instead of patronizing restaurants. Honokowai vacation rentals are a good ticket to an unforgetable West Maui experience.

The Quiet Beauty of Hawaii

Honokowai is a small town on the west coast of the island of Maui, which is quieter and less populated than the 'big island' of Oahu. Honokowai hosts a state park beach, and is only a few minutes from world famous golf courses in Kanaapali. Many vacationers in Honokowai find that if they just go outside their condo and down to the beach, they can lose half of the day just experiencing the sun and the waves, and watching local wildlife, like the sea turtles that come to the coves to feed.

Finding Your Way to Maui

Getting to Maui is easy; there are daily flights from Honolulu; Maui also has its own airport, though flights from the mainland United States are more expensive. Maui is most famous for its surfing, but the island is also home to massive national and state parks that protect the island's rainforests and coral reefs. The pristine environment is cherished by locals and travelers alike. On Maui, you can climb mountains and go snorkeling in the same day - if you have the energy, that is. But if you do, you can use Vacation Rentals by Owner to crash in your West Maui lodging.
