"We went to Maui to celebrate my daughters high school graduation and enjoy a girls trip. We selected staying in Hale Kai because of the location and amazing pool views. We were not disappointed. The condo was perfect for us and loved the loft and bath upstairs to give us all the room we needed. The lanai was one of my favorite spots. I loved looking over the park as well as seeing the ocean. The views were spectacular. Sunsets were beautiful. There is a farmers market across the street that has an outdoors area on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We were there each time enjoying the fresh fruits, vegetables and breads. There's also fun shops up and down the lower street. So many options in walking distance. We couldn't have asked for a better location. We are already trying to plan our next trip. The property manager was very helpful. Thanks for the amazing adventure. We loved it!"Guest: Kat Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 26, 2014View listing
"This condo was perfect for our family. My husband and I stayed with our 6 & 9 year old. It is a few doors down from the Farmers Market, which is a great health food store and Boss Frogs (rental store) It is across the street from a park with playground and mellow beach. Perfect for toddlers. The unit was very clean, comfortable beds, quiet and had all the necessary items to cook. The complex has a small pool and laundry facility. You have a small view of the water from the kitchen and living room window. The cooler/lawn chairs were such an asset for picnic lunches and plus had plenty of beach and bath towels. Only recommended for those that will have access to a car for not much else within close walking distance. However, there is a public bus stop nearby. Highly recommended and we look forward to returning to the same condo next year."Guest: Patty Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 1, 2014View listing
"This is an AWESOME condo. We loved everything about it. Location - it is in Honokowai between Ka'annpali and Kapalua. It's close to stores and restaurants; all within walking distance. The Times supermarket at the beginning of Lower Honoapiilani is open until 2am; in case you need any supplies for morning breakfast. Unit - this is an end-unit. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two lanais on two floors! Living room and kitchen on second floor; bedrooms are on third floor. The view is AWESOME! Unobstructed oceanview from both lanais (one off the living room and one off the master bedroom). It's so nice to wake up, open your eyes and boom the ocean is right there! It is so close to the ocean you can actually see sea turtles swimming in the ocean or whales during whale season. We went in mid-June and only saw sea turtles. This is important to note - there are two brand new AC units in the condo which was very nice. There is a full size washer and dryer. The condo condition is in good shape. Carpet is in good shape. I can tell some recent remodeling was done. Outdoor - The beach is close by (approx. 135 steps to the other end of the complex). It is a nice, semi-private sandy beach. No life guard. It is shared with another rental complex next door. You need a code to open the gate to get to the back of the complex, BBQ and picnic areas and the beach so there is definitely no public access to the beach. We have been there several times and it was never crowded at all. Owner John was very nice to do business with and gave us great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. In this economic climate, you would expect business owners to cut corners to make more money but not John. He left a nice welcome basket for us which was a really thoughtful way of starting our vacation after a long journey from California. All the pictures you see on their VRBO listing are accurate. It exceeded my expectation. I would stay here again but will make it a longer stay next time."Guest: Love golf! Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 5, 2014View listing
"My husband and I looked through quite a few units when we were deciding where to stay for our vacation. After much hemming and hawing we decided on this unit. Wow. There's always some trepidation when it comes to these choices, but all that went away as soon as arrived. The unit was just what we wanted. I will never forget the view from our lanai. Some unbelievable sunsets. The resort was quiet and clean, just like our unit. From cable TV to kitchen supplies, we had everything we needed. Thank you for providing us fantastic accommodations."Guest: Mandy Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: August 19, 2014View listing
Honokowai Travel Tips
Affordable Tropical Vacations in Honokowai Vacation Rentals
How can you stay in one of the world's most beautiful tropical locations at an affordable rate? By using Vacation Rentals by Owner. This allows vacationers to experience West Maui through Honokowai condos; you rent a person's private residence to stay in for your trip. While you're there, you can sometimes get lower rates than a hotel, you can put more people in one place - dividing up the cost. And you can use a full kitchen to cook healthy, affordable meals using local fare, instead of patronizing restaurants. Honokowai vacation rentals are a good ticket to an unforgetable West Maui experience.
The Quiet Beauty of Hawaii
Honokowai is a small town on the west coast of the island of Maui, which is quieter and less populated than the 'big island' of Oahu. Honokowai hosts a state park beach, and is only a few minutes from world famous golf courses in Kanaapali. Many vacationers in Honokowai find that if they just go outside their condo and down to the beach, they can lose half of the day just experiencing the sun and the waves, and watching local wildlife, like the sea turtles that come to the coves to feed.
Finding Your Way to Maui
Getting to Maui is easy; there are daily flights from Honolulu; Maui also has its own airport, though flights from the mainland United States are more expensive. Maui is most famous for its surfing, but the island is also home to massive national and state parks that protect the island's rainforests and coral reefs. The pristine environment is cherished by locals and travelers alike. On Maui, you can climb mountains and go snorkeling in the same day - if you have the energy, that is. But if you do, you can use Vacation Rentals by Owner to crash in your West Maui lodging.
