  • A Little slice of heaven

"I just can't say enough about this place, Tim and Beth were wonderful to deal with via email. We stayed here for 10 perfect days, the condo is just as described in the ad, it is indeed a little gem. It is a quiet complex, but there are children around, everyone says hello or good morning, great conversations can be started with a cup of tea in the morning up on the terrace by the ocean! Great food markets within walking distance, and the local fishing store gave us a great tip when renting a snorkel, he said the turtles like to come up onto the sand right next to the public beach to sun themselves. Lots of crabs on the rocks by the terrace, saw whales breaching, it was just lovely. One of the things I liked the most about Maui Sands is that it has an intimacy about it, there are lots of beautiful flowers and shrubs, so the condos are quite private, you are not looking straight across at someone in another condo. If you like that kind of environment rather than the big resorts, this is for you. We bbq'd a ton while we were there, and never had to wait to cook. I just feel really lucky to have found this."

  • Excellent condo, location and service

"Me and my fiancee really loved this condo. It is conveniently located on the northern part of the island, within a driving distance of interesting places like Kaanapali, Lahaina down south and Napili upper north. The beach right at the condo is great for easy snorkeling and sea turtles seeing. Sunset at the lanai is a unique, exquisite and pleasure experience. The condo was very clean, well furnished and decorated, and very well equipped and the owner was very responsive to my inquiries. I highly recommend this place and, if I am to go again to Maui, I'll definitely try this property again."

  • Nice spot for a vacation

"My family and I spent a wonderful week on the island of Maui. This condo was a nice place to rest in between all of the activities that we did. It is very clean and well stocked. (although there weren't enough beach towels for the 6 of us) My only complaint would be that the management wasn't readily available to help with any issues that we had. #1. There is supposed to be 1 key inside and 1 key in the lock box. We did not have a key inside. I notified them immediately upon our arrival and they never came to fix the problem. We had to use the lock box for our entire stay (pain in the butt!). #2. We had specifically rented this unit because it was listed as having a queen bedroom in the 2nd room. Upon our arrival we discovered that the 2nd room was 2 twins. That didn't sit well with my daughter and her fiance. I texted the management to ask if it could be fixed and they never responded. Now, of course I realize that maybe they didn't receive the text, but they had responded to me about our first issue....but they never fixed the problems. All of that being's still a nice place and I would be willing to stay there again. But the other couple with us had to sleep on the couch! Time for new management???"

"We just completed our third consecutive extended stay in this great condo. We really like the condo, the location and the amenities. The ocean view, the sounds of the water and the fantastic sunsets all make for a memorial vacation. You just can't get any closer to the ocean and again the view, WOW! The fact that you have lawn just outside the condo gives it the feeling of being much larger than it really is. The condo was very clean and the maintenance staff keeps the common areas looking good. The inside could use some updating but this did not distract from it being a great place to stay while vacationing in Maui. The owners are very friendly and easy to deal with."

Honokowai Travel Tips

Affordable Tropical Vacations in Honokowai Vacation Rentals

How can you stay in one of the world's most beautiful tropical locations at an affordable rate? By using Vacation Rentals by Owner. This allows vacationers to experience West Maui through Honokowai condos; you rent a person's private residence to stay in for your trip. While you're there, you can sometimes get lower rates than a hotel, you can put more people in one place - dividing up the cost. And you can use a full kitchen to cook healthy, affordable meals using local fare, instead of patronizing restaurants. Honokowai vacation rentals are a good ticket to an unforgetable West Maui experience.

The Quiet Beauty of Hawaii

Honokowai is a small town on the west coast of the island of Maui, which is quieter and less populated than the 'big island' of Oahu. Honokowai hosts a state park beach, and is only a few minutes from world famous golf courses in Kanaapali. Many vacationers in Honokowai find that if they just go outside their condo and down to the beach, they can lose half of the day just experiencing the sun and the waves, and watching local wildlife, like the sea turtles that come to the coves to feed.

Finding Your Way to Maui

Getting to Maui is easy; there are daily flights from Honolulu; Maui also has its own airport, though flights from the mainland United States are more expensive. Maui is most famous for its surfing, but the island is also home to massive national and state parks that protect the island's rainforests and coral reefs. The pristine environment is cherished by locals and travelers alike. On Maui, you can climb mountains and go snorkeling in the same day - if you have the energy, that is. But if you do, you can use Vacation Rentals by Owner to crash in your West Maui lodging.
