  • Love Honua Kai

"This is an excellent one-bedroom unit within Honua Kai. Great view. Quality accommodation. Owner was very easy to work with and responded quickly to questions. Nice spot on Kaanapali Beach. If you walk a little south on the beach you can play in the waves without too many rocks on the bottom. Pools are nice. Lots of little kids in February. I assume there are lots of older kids during Spring Breaks and summers. But you'll have to deal with kids at all the resorts. There are some quieter spots at the pools but you'll have to scope them out early. Again, same at all the resorts. We love staying at Honua Kai and this unit is a gem. Management is very professional. There was a smoker a few floors down on the lanai and they took care of that problem pronto! Dukes beach café is a HUGE plus for the property."

  • What a terrific VRBO experience!

"WOW - we can't say enough positive things about Patty & Rick’s condo at Honua Kai! We planned our Maui vacation almost one year in advance and Patty, the owner, was attentive and responsive and I could tell immediately that she was very involved in the rental process. Many other owners on VRBO hand over their unit to a property manager/rental company for all contact and coordination with renters and we specifically were looking for the opposite – we wanted to work directly with an owner because an owner that CHOOSES to be involved in the rental part of the process cares much more about their unit than a rental company ever would. Upon arrival, the unit was immaculately clean and the view was stunning. We loved the fact that the unit had two masters and the entire unit was well-appointed and very comfortable. The kitchen had all high-end appliances and was better stocked than most condos we’ve rented in the past: kitchen had spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, aluminum foil, baggies, coffee filters etc. in addition to the welcome pack of a few rolls of paper towels, a single pack of coffee for the first morning etc. Patty also had a full box of detergent in the laundry area as well as a beach ‘toy’ closet with beach chairs, an umbrella, a large cooler etc. for guests to use. We especially enjoyed the wrap-around lanai all day long and, because of its configuration, it always had just the right combination of sun and shade throughout the day/evening so you didn’t feel like you were getting blasted with sun while sipping your coffee in the morning or a cocktail while watching the sunset in the evening. We just can’t say enough great things about this unit. It was spectacular in every way!"

  • Awesome unit and location!

"We loved the Hanua Kai. Location is great and the unit was immaculate. It had top end appliances, beautifully furnished, and very clean. The adult pool was great if you preferred a little peace and quiet. Dukes, the on site restaurant had great food and there are a bunch of great restaurants just a few miles from the hotel. If you want to save a little money, there is a grocery store across the street from the side entrance of the hotel. The units at the Hanua Kai definitely lend themselves to eating in with fully equipped kitchens. Terry and Jill were lovely work with and provided us with all the information we needed for our trip to Maui. I would highly recommend booking through them if you're considering Maui."

  • Great Place

"we enjoyed this condo and resort very much! our 19 and 9 year old daughters appreciated the private bed/bath. the pictures are very accurate. the furniture was comfortable; appliances were bosch; unit was very clean and well maintained. the lanai had a beautiful view and we appreciated that the unit did not get the direct sunlight all day- which allowed us to enjoy sitting there. the key cards/parking cards were a little confusing. Julie was great to work with and very attentive. the resort was beautiful and pools were nice and roomy. the beach was narrow but if you walked to black rock, you could snorkel with the sea turtles!! we enjoyed the west maui parasailing, snorkeling with pacific whale foundation, our own trek to haleakala and hana, and boogie boarding outside the resort. try hula pie at dukes and pancakes at slappy cakes. the shopping at front street was great for tourist items but whalers village had upscale shopping."

Honua Kai Travel Tips

Staying in West Maui with Honua Kai Vacation Rentals

West Maui is a destination for the people who want to go to the tropics to get away from everything, but while holding onto the bits of civilization that make life enjoyable, like high rises, world-class restaurants, first-class golfing, and unforgettable scuba diving in crystal clear waters. West Maui is also home to the world's best sunsets, which can be viewed from the decks of Honua Kai vacation rentals. Honua Kai is condominium building built just north of Kaanapali beach. It's a bit outside of the hubbub of the tourist areas, and it is home to some of the best views of the western Pacific on Maui.

Visiting Maui by Staying in Someone's High Rise Condominium

With a vacation rental, a vacationer rents someone's property. So instead of going to a hotel, a renter essentially rents a home through a private agreement with its owner. The home can be a shack in the mountains, or a luxury condo in Maui, which is what Honua Kai is. Honua Kai beach rentals allow a vacationer to experience Western Maui and Kaanapali resorts, without paying the fees of a hotel. And a vacation rental by owner allows you to utilize a kitchen instead of eating out.

Honua Kai Beach Rentals and You

A beach rental through a condominium like Honua Kai allows a vacationer to stay in a cozy home, while being in the center of a beautiful and exotic locale. You can fit more people into a vacation rental than you can a hotel; since it's a home, there are sometimes extra rooms, or pull-out sofas. The rates for a vacation rental are typically much lower, especially when you add the extra bed space and the savings of eating in. And there's no lack of activities in Western Maui, though you may just prefer to relax and take in the sunset.
