  • Very Nice Condo in Perfect Location

"My wife and I usually don't have a problem finding things to be critical about when we vacation but we had a hard time finding anything wrong when we stayed in this Whaler unit. The pictures portray the unit perfectly so we had no surprises. The unit is very spacious and well appointed. The kitchen came in handy as did the 2nd bathroom. Also a plus was the washer/dryer in the room. That was a pleasant surprise for us. The lanai is huge with nice furniture. The ocean view is fantastic. I saw in a previous review that there was no toaster; there was one when we stayed. The Whaler is in a perfect location for what we wanted: to be on the beach and near Black Rock and Whalers Village. All were within seconds to minutes. Unbelievable! Outside of our trip to Hana, we rarely ventured away from the area. We enjoyed the beach, Whalers Village, Black Rock, and our unit that much. My wife really wanted to stay at the Sheraton so we would be close to Black Rock. However, I wanted to be in a condo. I took a chance and went against her wishes .... and it paid off big time! She loved it!! I should point out that the Whaler has a fairly small and simple pool, compared to other hotels along that segment of the beach, but we knew that from the pictures. The bed was a little too soft for my wife and I because of our back issues. However, I want to be clear that there is nothing wrong with the bed; it seemed to be a nice bed ... just too soft for our very sensitive backs. We have this problem with most places we stay. I don't consider the Whaler or this unit to fall under a "luxurious" category as say a Hyatt, or Marriott. However, you will probably need to pay 2-3 times of what this unit costs to stay there. My wife and I both were EXTREMELY pleased with this unit and the Whaler as a whole. We hope to have another opportunity to stay here again for our next trip to Maui. Also, the owner is very kind and easy to work with. Thanks, Tripta!!!!"

  • 1st Trip to Maui ... we will be going back!

"My husband and I stayed for a week in the Westin Ocean Villas and loved every minute of it. The hotel staff was wonderful from check-in to valet to pool service. We had a studio unit on one of the upper floors facing the ocean. Amazing views! The kitchen has all necessary appliances (microwave w/cooking feature, full refrigerator, stove top, dishwasher). We grilled at the outdoor grills for dinner 2 nights. We grabbed groceries at the Costco by the Kahului airport on our way to the resort and ate breakfast every morning on the balcony. We packed picnic lunches most days & hiked all along the west/northwest coastline from Kapalua on up. We also picked up fresh sushi and some other items at the Times grocery store just north of the villas (approx 3 mi). The property was very well-kept, the pools were perfect, and we also enjoyed the hot tubs in the evening. Being there in January, the ocean water was a bit too chilly for me but my husband did snorkel 1 day. You can walk or take the free shuttle to Whalers Village if you are wanting to shop, check out other restaurants/bars or coffee shops. We walked the boardwalk every morning all the way down to the end where there is a public beach. The boardwalk is great ... it extends roughly 3 miles south of the Westin Villas and 1/2-1 mi north. We enjoyed walking north to Dukes Restaurant. There is a fantastic little coffee shop (Island Vintage Coffee) that serves coffees, teas, smoothies, breakfast & lunch at Whalers Village. You can also take the free shuttle down to Front Street which is where the harbor is, tons of shopping & restaurants. We actually enjoyed Whalers Village the most for shopping. We ate at Kimo's on Front Street, very good. The beach is very nice. You can walk the beach up to Black Rock (Sheraton), then walk the boardwalk around the Sheraton & go back to walking on the beach. Some areas south of the Sheraton do not have much beach. You can also walk the beach north quite a ways. Thank you for renting us your fabulous home away from home. This was a beautiful property and we will definitely be going back!"
