  • Maui getaway

"This is a great location with easy access to Lahaina and the best beaches on the West coast of Maui. It has its own small private beach with snorkeling and surfing. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is large enough to swim laps. You can watch the sunset over Molokai from your lani. The unit does get very hot in the afternoon with the sun directly on the lani. The bedroom air conditioner is a must but is very loud for any light sleepers. It was helpful to Have Victor living at the same property as he was able to address a few issues we had promptly."

  • best view on the island!!!!

"I love staying here! My husband and I took our honeymoon vacation here and it was perfect for just the two of us. Super clean and the complex is nice and quiet. The best part is that it's right on the water so you wake up to the waves every morning. What's not to love???"

  • Great Get Away Spot

"This was an excellent vacation spot. The studio suite is perfect for two people. To be on the main floor and right on the water is even better! We saw whales blowing further out and turtles right at the seawall in front of you. Morning coffee and sunsets on the lanai are just the best. Many evenings we ate in because you have the best sunsets right there. The studio is well equipped with the essentials. Beach chairs and cooler were also provided. Nice to throw these in the trunk everyday for where ever we might end up! We had never stayed in this area before but found Kahana to be a great location. So many great beaches, restaurants and happy hours close by. Jill is very good to deal with and responds promptly. We would most definitely return to this property and area of Maui. Mahalo."

  • Really great location!

"This property is all about location, location, location. It is arguably the closest to the water on Maui. You have great ocean views of both Molokai and Lanai, which add much interest instead of blank horizon. The condo is small, fine for a couple, no more. There is a A/C "window" unit in the bedroom, which you'll want at night since the unit faces due west and the afternoon sun warms up considerably 85 degrees in early May. (I take along a travel thermometer, which is accurate). There are no curtains for the front sliding glass patio doors. I was able to get the outside patio pull down "blinds" to work (others have said they didn't work) which you can see through easily from inside the unit, but don't provide a great deal of shade. You'll want to leave the front door open to generate the "tropical breezes" that do eventually cool the unit as evening progresses. Note that as anyone comes through the lobby, they are lined up exactly to look through your condo. The ladder for water entry is problematic as the steps are the same 2" diameter round metal as the sides. We would have expected the steps to be more typical of a pool ladder with a wide horizontal section for each step. We say several people approach the ladder but saw no one actually use it. Best water entry is at the extreme south section of the property which is easy. As many folks pointed out, the "beach" section to the north comes and goes with the tide. Snorkeling is only fair as the water is quite shallow. On the positive side, the property grounds are absolutely lovely with a wide variety of tropical plants, scrubs and trees, all seem to be well cared for. Their are 4 gas grills that saw heavy use each day. The following morning, a worker cleans them very well, "ready for inspection". Amazing to me, as we have seem so many times at other resort properties, folks use them and walk away, no one cleans them. All in all, Kuleana is a great value for the money and a great way to enjoy West Maui."
