  • Lovely vacation.

"First let me say we had a lovely vacation! Just lovely! The home is right on the water and the sunsets were amazing. Was there with my husband, our adults children and our grandchildren. Some things to know: the walk to Lahaina is relatively easy but know there are no sidewalks and it is pretty dark to walk home after dinner. Lahaina has wonderful restaurants, art galleries, clothing shops, fun bars and can be easily walked. There is really no beach to speak of in January; not fun with kids that want to play in the sand. We did found some lovely beaches that we drove to; just leave early as the public parking fills up very fast. One beach we went north for and another we drove to south Maui Wailea area. My husband and I brought our tennis gear when we saw there was a tennis court available. Unfortunately, the local residents know how to play the sign-up system and will block off the courts for 4-5 hr chunks at a time; skip dragging your tennis racket all the way to Hawaii as we tried for 7 days to play and never was able to! I have contacted the property manager with a list of some home improvements that I believe the housekeepers are not catching when they clean so these improvements are most likely not being done (things like specialty lights/bulbs that are burned out going up the stairs and take a special bulb, a mattress that has broken down and was quite uncomfortable for a normal weight couple, a broken door knob... just little things like that). We were surprised to see that we needed to buy toilet paper, garbage bags and paper towels as I thought when it said well stocked pantry that would be included; we left what we didn't use. The well stocked "pantry" has salt and pepper and a few spices; there was some olive oil with no lid that I chucked as it most likely spoiled. I highly recommend booking the Alii Nui sail trip to Molokini; amazing and the whales were so, so close! We also went to the Old Lahaina Lu'au; exceptional!! Overall the house was wonderful, very comfortable, roomy and blessed us with an amazing holiday."

  • Fabulous Location

"We stayed at Steve's condo on a recent trip to Maui. The location was fabulous! We walked to Front Street and other local venues on numerous occasions. Plus, when we did decide to drive somewhere, there was quick/easy access to Honoapiilani Highway and anywhere you wanted to go on the island. The condo was as advertised, very clean, modern with an ample supply of utensils. The parking, which Steve has no control over, is the only drawback. Parking at Aina Nalu is $20.00/night and the street, unfortunately, is seldom available. Thanks, Steve, for making your property available for us mainlanders who chronically require a 'dose of the Aloha Spirit'!!"

  • Great condo, great price!

"Overall our stay was wonderful. The resort is in the best location on the island. Great beach, great pool, great hot tub. Not crowded at all this time of year. This was our second stay at Lahaina Shores, our first stay in this unit. We traveled with friends who booked through Costco, so I have a couple of rooms to compare this one to. The Pros- OCEAN VIEW, 5th floor- amazing! Both this unit and the Costco unit had ocean views. The Costco unit was on floor 3, so they had palm trees partially blocking their view. This unit was fully loaded. We had a blender (great for smoothies!) and found that our friends spent a lot of time in our room to use the blender etc. The Costco room did not come with one. We had floaties, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels and snorkle gear in our room. The Costco room did not. I LOVE how this room is set up, the murphy bed tucks away during the day making to room feel much bigger and more comfortable. There is not an overwhelming amount of decor. The room was SPOTLESS. Our previous visit in a different unit we were plagued by sugar ants. I did not see a single insect in this unit. The carpet is NICE! The pictures do not do this room justice at all. The bad- to be totally honest, the bed was very uncomfortable, the futon sleeper also. The Costco bed was worse than ours though. We are pretty spoiled with a memory foam at home, so I assume the bed probably isn't as bad as we felt it was. The bedding could be updated. But overall, my biggest complaint- The plastic lanai furniture! While it wouldn't steer me away from booking this room again, an upgrade in the lanai furniture would be wonderful! There was a touch of a musty smell the first time we entered the room but that was the only time we noticed it. The Costco room was much much mustier and smelled almost like stale cigarette smoke. The oven in our room was old enough to vote, the oven in the Costco unit was the exact same. Overall, we rented this room solely based on the price. We had low expectations. The room exceeded our expectations and was a better choice than the Costco room our friends booked. The few things we recommend improving would not sway our choice to book this unit again. Please update the listing as your photos and description do not do this room justice. If you are looking for 5 star accommodation, Lahaina Shores isn't for you. If you are looking for a clean, well appointed condo with unbeatable views, then don't hesitate to book this unit!"

  • Review #10906219 “Maui Trip 50th b-day”

"1/9/2015 to 1/17/2015 For my 50th B-day I wanted to treat the family to Maui. We had 8 adults and 2 children 4/6. The property manager and cleaning lady are both named Melissa. Whereas I wasn't made aware of this until the day of arrival, it seemed "odd". Melissa the cleaning person will answer any question within hours, and the manager within a couple of days, (she lives in the same area). Check in time is 4pm and check out is 10am and they seemed to be "stiff" on the times. Yes, the property offers a complete kitchen, beach towels and pool toys for the kids. Regarding the property the views were amazing. The house was beautiful and had an excellent layout. Each day it was 79-81 degrees and sunny but the pool stayed Cold even for the kids so we ended up going to the beach each day, which the ocean water was at least 10 degrees warmer. (the owners added a solar panel heat system for the pool in 2014), however it really doesn't work well.. The hot tub we used during the evening but only 2 jets work.. Do not understand since the manager has a pool service come out weekly to check it out and to maintain the hot tub/pool. I wasn't told this until the day of arrival that there was a gas leak, and I wasn't able to use the tiki torches. The overall property receives 4.5 stars, Melissa the manager receive 2 stars, Melissa the cleaning lady receives 4 stars."
