"Molokai is not for everyone. There are no five-star resorts...no five-star restaurants...and no real choice of rental cars. In fact, it's hard to find any place to enjoy a great meal anywhere on the island. Having said all that, we found that Hale Ula Lani offers everything that we would expect to find at a first class resort with a fantastic sunset view and all the comforts and amenities of home. Everything in this unit has been upgraded to the utmost. The kitchen has absolutely everything a gourmet chef could want, and then some. Granite, stainless steel, even an espresso machine! And all the condiments and other amenities to prepare the finest of meals. Every detail is carefully crafted to reflect local culture and history. The décor in both bedrooms and bathrooms is rich and obviously well thought out. And the laundry in the unit is a godsend! The expansive lanai offers a comfortable opportunity to enjoy the views of the island's most beautiful western beaches and the most fabulous sunsets ever. We loved every minute of our stay here. The solitude...the hikes on nearby isolated beaches...the opportunity to reflect on past and present. This is truly the Hawaii that once was. Quiet. Simple. This is the true Hawaii. We will be back again next year. For sure!"

"We just got back from an AMAZING stay at the condo and enjoyed every moment of it. We felt right at home and were really surprised at how well furnished the place was: the fully-equipped kitchen, super comfy bedroom, and even the entertainment system were all modern and updated (we especially loved the Hawaiian playlist on the iPod!). We loved lounging by the pool watching the whales play (we had the pool to ourselves most days), taking the quick walk to the famous 3-mile beach (excellent shelling and swimming while we were there), and sipping on drinks on the lanai (your private patio) while watching the sun set over the ocean every evening (even better than in the pictures!). It is one of our favorite places – paradise found! Be prepared to mix your own drinks and to do a little cooking (the full size kitchen and awesome BBQ makes it easy), and other than that, relax, relax, relax..."

"We just finished a relatively short (4-night) visit to Molokai, staying only at the Pauwalu Cottage. It was remarkable and lovely; we will definitely stay again next time we visit.
The house itself was very clean, looked just like the pictures, and was well stocked with necessities (utensils and kitchen gadgets, briquet bbq, towels, paper towels, etc.). We followed the advice and did some shopping on the way from the airport -- although mostly we ate out. (This is Molokai, so that means plate lunch or choosing from a very few, very casual restaurants "in town" (Kaunakakai); so have realistic expectations.) There is no AC but the breeze and the fans were consistent and the screens worked great (no mosquitos got in -- but take a little mosquito repellant for the island; it would have been nice for the outdoor restaurants), so it was not missed. Booking was really easy and communication was prompt and friendly.
The house is out towards the east end of the island and it's very comfortable (and 25 minutes from any dinner place), so grab stuff for one or more dinners at the house. Each morning and evening we spent at least an hour watching the waves and the ocean and reading on the lanai, and we would have stayed even more if we had planned groceries better. The deck and sunsets were my favorite things (and there was a lot to love from the house and the island).
A note about the island: we loved Molokai and found folks to be very friendly when we took the time to chat but it is a somewhat different kind of vacation: slower, less posh, less convenient, more independent, etc. If that appeals, you will LOVE it and this cottage (and the other which is 2 minutes away and looked lovely too) is a perfect place. Enjoy."

"It was my first time I went to Molokai and I feel that I met the real paradise. Molokai has paradisal beaches, hi kings, waterfalls, and who loves adventure will be surprised by such amazing nature. I stayed from Dec,30, 2014 to Jan, 2nd in this gorgeous sandy beach front house with my fiancé, and I would recommend for everyone who is thinking about spend a time by the sea, enjoying a beautiful island nature. The house is comfortable and perfect to host a family. I am counting my days to come back to molokai and stay at this peaceful and blessed place again!"
