  • Loved being at this condo on Molokai!

"My hubby and I stayed at this beautiful condo for 5 days, after a busy 9 days on Maui. It was a wonderful way to end our time in Hawaii. As soon as the plane hit the runway at the airport, I felt 'peace and rest'. And when we arrived at this condo, I felt the same! It is just as described...a wonderful, clean, nicely decorated, peaceful place to be..especially where I came down with an illness during our stay. As we walked the grounds, my hubby and I just felt like we were home, even though we come from New England. This is just a lovely, lovely place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to go to Molokai, especially those who love quiet and peace, writers, readers, photographers, etc. My sis and her friend came over to visit us and they loved it too, and said the sleep sofa was very comfortable. The ambience of the condo is wonderful, and when you leave, you step out into a beautiful smell of plumeria! The whole complex is tastefully arranged and sort of hidden by tropical trees and plants. Molokai is like stepping back in time....no commercialization at all. So if you're looking for that, go to another island! We did the hike to Halawa Valley, swam in the bay there, took in Purdy's Macadamia Nut Farm, Coffees of Hawaii, and drove to Kalaupapa lookout, bought produce at organic Kumu Farm, and drove around Kaunakakai and other areas of the island, including the beaches on the west shore which is where the condo unit is. Deserted beaches, beautiful big waves, though rough undertoe, and certainly beautiful sunsets. Dixie Maru Beach is the only place we felt safe enough to swim. I found Molokai to be a wonderful photographic opportunity, also. Be forewarned though, that you need to get anything you will need for your stay, all in Kaunakakai, as this is the central point for the whole island, including restaurants. Again, there is no commercialism here, and very few restaurants...nothing at all like the other islands, but so beautiful and peaceful..a pleasant change from other islands. And I can't say enough about the owner of this condo. She was delightfully helpful with everything about the condo and the island! She was a joy to make my plans with! If I ever get to Molokai again, I will be renting her condo again, and will tell others to do the same! Truly the "aloha spirit" is alive and well in the people on Molokai....nothing but friendly. No wonder they call it the 'friendly isle'. :-)"

  • Treat yourself to a Home in Paradise

"We just finished a relatively short (4-night) visit to Molokai, staying only at the Pauwalu Cottage. It was remarkable and lovely; we will definitely stay again next time we visit. The house itself was very clean, looked just like the pictures, and was well stocked with necessities (utensils and kitchen gadgets, briquet bbq, towels, paper towels, etc.). We followed the advice and did some shopping on the way from the airport -- although mostly we ate out. (This is Molokai, so that means plate lunch or choosing from a very few, very casual restaurants "in town" (Kaunakakai); so have realistic expectations.) There is no AC but the breeze and the fans were consistent and the screens worked great (no mosquitos got in -- but take a little mosquito repellant for the island; it would have been nice for the outdoor restaurants), so it was not missed. Booking was really easy and communication was prompt and friendly. The house is out towards the east end of the island and it's very comfortable (and 25 minutes from any dinner place), so grab stuff for one or more dinners at the house. Each morning and evening we spent at least an hour watching the waves and the ocean and reading on the lanai, and we would have stayed even more if we had planned groceries better. The deck and sunsets were my favorite things (and there was a lot to love from the house and the island). A note about the island: we loved Molokai and found folks to be very friendly when we took the time to chat but it is a somewhat different kind of vacation: slower, less posh, less convenient, more independent, etc. If that appeals, you will LOVE it and this cottage (and the other which is 2 minutes away and looked lovely too) is a perfect place. Enjoy."

  • Beautiful location

"We had never been to Molokai before and wanted to treat our adult son, who works in Honolulu, to a long weekend in peaceful place. This condo was perfect! We had gorgeous views from the lanais and the grounds were beautiful as well. You could drive 16 miles to Kaunakakai for shopping or head east and get to Mana'e Goods & Grindsz for a quick meal or buy some items at their convenience store. The listing description and pictures were accurate and the condo was clean and well maintained."

  • The true Hawaii is Waialua Molokai

"All I can say is 5 days in Molokai is just not enough if you love the real Hawaii. Molokai is truly the friendly Island. We loved staying at Peter's home and so did our service dog Russett. The sound of the ocean right at your back door makes all your cares just melt away. Everyone we met was so nice, the neighbors and especially Auntie Jo. We just loved getting up in the morning and walking along the beach. We also loved snorkeling and kayaking. We just can't wait to go back. Mahalo to Peter for sharing his little peace of paradise:) Aloha, Art, Marsha & Russett"
