"My family recently took a week off work and visited the island of Molokai. We rented two homes through Leslie Dunbar. Each had a lovely waterfront setting and two bedrooms. They were both well furnished with everything necessary for a lovely stay. Our group included two grandparents (us), and our daughter and her husband with their two small children. We rented a car so we could explore the island and must say that a car is a must. We booked a whale watching tour which was spectacular (we could also see the whales from the deck of each home) and toured the island. It was a lovely vacation but there are caveats. Molokai is not Maui or Honolulu. You will find more of the original Hawaii here. The scenery is beautiful but the amenities are not for the pampered. Have a sense of adventure and go see the whales!"

The best kept secret in the world. I now know why they say Molokai mo bettah.
"Want to say thanks for sharing your ohana. This was probably the best two weeks I have spent. Will, your advise on attractions were all true. We met some great people and especially enjoyed Aloha Friday. We went for rest and relaxation but seem like we were always on the go. Just to let you know, I rented a beach house for next Nov thru February. I can't wait to get back to the people of Molokai. Mahalo"

"We had a wonderful stay at Wavecrest. The owner, John, called to make sure we were set prior to arrival and checked in after arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. Though I am not sure what that might have been as the condo was very well appointed with everything one might need:including a kitchen with every imaginable utensils, reading material, several pairs of binoculars for whale watching from the lanai/balcony overlooking the ocean about 100ft away, with views of Maui and Lanai, and the the humpback whales playing! The furnishings were clean and comfortable. The surrounding grounds offered a nice pool, with a barbaque area, a smal beach OK for fishing. Beautiful serene location to relax, close enough to Kauanakakai for shopping at the farmers market on Saturday a.m.and supplies and Halawa valley for beautiful scenery and waterfalls as well as cultural tours, and great snorkeling beaches nearby (driving distance). Also and easy drive for a hike or mule ride into the Kalaupapa peninsula for beautiful scenery and a lesson in history of the leper colony. We intend to return for another relaxing vacation!"

"Molokai is not for everyone. There are no five-star resorts...no five-star restaurants...and no real choice of rental cars. In fact, it's hard to find any place to enjoy a great meal anywhere on the island. Having said all that, we found that Hale Ula Lani offers everything that we would expect to find at a first class resort with a fantastic sunset view and all the comforts and amenities of home. Everything in this unit has been upgraded to the utmost. The kitchen has absolutely everything a gourmet chef could want, and then some. Granite, stainless steel, even an espresso machine! And all the condiments and other amenities to prepare the finest of meals. Every detail is carefully crafted to reflect local culture and history. The décor in both bedrooms and bathrooms is rich and obviously well thought out. And the laundry in the unit is a godsend! The expansive lanai offers a comfortable opportunity to enjoy the views of the island's most beautiful western beaches and the most fabulous sunsets ever. We loved every minute of our stay here. The solitude...the hikes on nearby isolated beaches...the opportunity to reflect on past and present. This is truly the Hawaii that once was. Quiet. Simple. This is the true Hawaii. We will be back again next year. For sure!"
