  • Awesome views in a very quiet neighborhood.

"Stayed at this awesome apartment through Easter break with the kids and mother in law, six days in total. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful view from the lanai the entire time we were there. If you like the quiet of living in a residential area while on vacation, this is it. A drive to to Pearl Harbor takes approximately 20-25 minutes depending on traffic. If you like wasting your time in traffic stay on the West side. Lots of people told us to stop at Walmart and Costco on your way to your rental. This is a flawed idea. We shopped local as we ate breakfast in the apartment and were off touring the island the rest of the day. I had friends tell me they spent $500 in food and shipped most of it home, since they ate out everyday. What a waste. On our way to the apartment, which is a term I wouldn't use as this place is very, very nice throughout. Stone flooring, granite counter tops, first class all the way. The communication with Anita was wonderful from beginning to end. We were provided with the owners phone numbers to call if we had any problems. They have wireless internet and since we all have I this and that, this was great as we could all use this service. On the way to the apartment is the Byodo In, which is a replica of a 900 year old Buddist temple. Free parking and three bucks to get in. Way worth the price and time to walk the ground and ring the bell. If you go turn in to the grounds @ the McDonalds as there are two roads with the same name a 1/4 mile away from each other. This temple is approximately two to three miles away from the apartment. If you park at the McDonalds and walk the highway south about two hundred yards there is a path leading to a hike up to breathtaking, unobstructed views of the whole of Kaneohe Bay. The path is not marked, but for a sign that says no trespassing, which we took as the property to the right of the trail, but the hike is awesome when you make it to the top. If you are into standing on pill boxes manned by soldiers during WW2, locals we met on top of the hill told was this was the best hike in Kaneohe. Afterward there is a Shave Ice store right next to the grocery store near Mickey D's The apartment is completely furnished will all the appliances you will need. I would recommend buying/bringing some spices of your cooking taste when BBQ'ing. We would not hesitate to rent this place in the future. Thanks again for a wonderful stay."

  • Perfect Lanikai Home Base!

"My family and I had an absolutely magnificent time in Lanikai, and the Beach Bum Main Home made it all possible. The home is set into the hillside for amazing views of the sunrise and ocean, and the short walk to the beach is invaluable as parking spots fill up all around. We spent countless hours out on the lanai morning, day and night. And what a jewel of a beach Lanikai is. I saw an article leading up to our trip which listed Laniaki as one of the top 10 beaches in the world, and it lived up to it. Highly, highly recommended to include as part of anyone's Hawai'i itinerary. The house itself is perfect. Nice kitchen with all the supplies you need for home cooked meals, and the breakfast nook is convenient for quick morning eats. The furniture is quality and fits the island theme, the living area is quite spacious and the ceiling fans everywhere keep the place feeling cool. But the tiki bar had to be my personal favorite hangout spot! Bedrooms are also comfy and clean and the two bathrooms are also nice with good showers. Nice bathtub in one of the bathrooms. And not to be overlooked is the beautifully landscaped backyard, with access from the master bedroom. We are already thinking about a return trip to Lanikai and it's hard to think of why we would look elsewhere."

  • Every One Needs A Little Aloha... and this is the place to find it!

"Let's put it this way- when we closed the gate on our final day and said our goodbyes, we all got a little teary eyed. Our family was looking for beauty, tranquility, and a paradise away from the hustle and bustle of our every day lives. When we arrived, everything was as described in the listing and so much more. If you are looking for a vacation rental away from the typical tourist traps but an easy drive from just about everything on the island, look no further. Our goal was to wake up, walk out on the lanai and drink our coffee before hitting the beaches, the north shore, the hiking and waterfalls and Hale 'O Bali was the prime location to get to it all! And if we wanted to just relax, you couldn't get any better with the beautiful views of the ocean off the lanai, the mountains on the opposite side and the beautiful landscaping on the property itself. I have to speak to the excellent correspondence from Leilani throughout the reservation process. We had never booked a rental like this before, and all our worries seem to melt into thin air. We never had to wait more than 24 hours to get a response (and that's even with the time difference!). There were no surprises (no bad ones that is) and all the amenities as described were accurately portrayed and better than imagined. The rental was stocked with a lot of extras (beach/picnic gear, bathroom products, condiments for cooking, etc.) Originally, we had planned on only 3 people (My husband and I and our teenage son) but were ecstatic that our college age daughter was able to come with, last minute. Leilani was extremely accommodating to our last minute addition and we are so grateful! Just a note to those who read this review: The rental is not soundproof. HOWEVER, we found this to enhance the beauty of this place and the authenticity of the experience we were after. The sounds of the water on the shore, the fountain/pond from the master bedroom, the foliage and swaying of the trees against the wind, the soft breezes throughout the house and even the crowing of the rooster in the morning (We do not agree with prior reviews as far as the rooster...we Loved this!) was just the type of "zen" we were seeking! As I said when I started this review, we were all teary eyed when we left....we didn't WANT to leave. Aloha and Mahalo for welcoming us to your beautiful paradise!! We cannot WAIT to return(We are already checking dates for 2015)!!"

  • Our perfect honeymoon

"We have just returned from this paradise. It was a wonderful vacation! Everything is as it is written in the description: the cottage is spacious and private, just 3-5 min walk to the beach. Very quite street. The cottage equipped with everything you might need: washer & dryer, AC, any cooking utencils etc. And all of this is almost new and absolutely clean. I would like to recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend the best holyday in this hawaiian paradise!"
