"My husband and I are from Canada and stayed here in August 2014. All the reviews written are accurate depictions of the cottage, which is a quite a private add on to the back of their garage. Positive comments first: Good value for the price. Hosts are kind, thoughtful, friendly and very helpful with as much or as little interaction as you want. Quiet, peaceful, private setting. Snorkels, wave boards, beach chairs and mats a plenty. Good sized fruit basket upon arrival as well as pastry for first morning and quality fruit preserves which lasted the week. Washer-dryer was great. Back private deck and lounge chairs. Kitchen has full fridge, micro, coffee maker and hot plate. Cooking items and dishes well stocked. Comfortable bed. Nice tiled shower. 5 minute walk to the beach path. Clean quiet beach with Hawaii's aqua marine clear water. Plenty of water sports to watch and participate in if desired: kite boarding, surf sailing, long Hawaiian canoe races, kayaking, etc. Beautiful breezes. Hosts friendly and accommodating in every way. They take credit card for payment. Negative aspects: floor tiles worn and cracked in places, but serviceable and clean. Kitchen cupboards were not clean and dishes and utensils not too clean (probably from infrequent use). As stated by others, washer-dryer are in garage and garage is quite messy. There are sky lights into the room which make the room nice and bright, but when the sun is out in full, a lot of heat comes in and you can't get away from the heat as there is no air conditioning: there is no way to shade the sky lights. But the price can't be beat, and we think the negative aspects can be overlooked because of the positive points."

"This tropical apartment was a perfect location for our visit to Oahu. I've stayed in Kailua before in an area that had a lot of traffic noise, so this place was a real treat. It was nice to come back to the apt in the evening to peace and quiet.
The owners were very nice and supplied everything you could possibily need and then some. Driving to Kailua shops and restaurants was only a matter of minutes.
I plan on staying here again the next time I visit the island."

"My husband and I really relaxed and felt comfortable the seven nights we stayed in Tradewinds Cottage. There was enough room for us to not feel on top of each other for the week we were there, but it would be crowded with more than two people. The beach is close enough to bring your morning coffee to watch the sunrise, and your evening drink to watch the moonrise. So much was provided- beach gear, kitchen accessories, maps and info- that it was easy to just jump into our time in Kailua. The first morning we were there we walked to the farmer's market and picked up produce and treats for the first few days we were there, then later walked to the mid-week market to pick-up more. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful and prompt during the whole process. There was a busier road nearby so traffic noise was higher at some times but I never felt it was overwhelming. Kailua was the perfect fit for us and we would definitely stay in the Tradewinds again if we are ever back in Oahu."

"Our family stayed in Hale Honu for 4 nights, and we miss it terribly. The cottage was comfortable and clean, and the location is perfect. Our 11 year old spent her time swimming, on the swing, reading in the treehouse and watching out for honu off the pier. Mike took us out for a great sail! We spent hours on the front porch and the swing - perfect place for morning coffee. We can't wait to come back."
