  • Christmas Traveler

"Lived in Hawaii for several years & our oldest son is still living in Kailua. Other son and I visited for Christmas. The first impression when we walked in was - "very Hawaiian" and very large! There was plenty of room and the location was great for us. Kailua is a very nice, non-touristy town. Short walk to beach and you can hear the ocean at night. Amanda and her family are excellent hosts - mostly leaving us to our own travels. Two things that are a bit of a negative: There are younger children there and older guests at times, so the "limited noise after 10:00 PM rule" is necessary. So it is not for party seekers. The other thing that was an issue is the limited parking. Someone came to pick us up the first night we were there and pulled in as we came down. Because our car was in our parking spot, our friend had to turn around in someone else's as the owner pulled in. Our first interaction lacked any "aloha" and we were pretty concerned that we didn't make the right lodging choice. After that night, though, we tried not to violate any rules and everything was perfect. The location was great, Amanda & her family were great and we loved the size and amenities of the rental. The pictures on the website do not do it justice, because it is wonderful."

  • We didn't want to leave!

"We truly enjoyed our stay at the house; the rooms were clean and comfortable, and we had a blast hanging out in the lanai during the storm that knocked out power for a day. Our girls called the small beach area from the house to the park our "home" or "backyard" beach and it was just awesome. The neighbors next door are lovely people who made us all feel right at home. Great fun kayaking over to Mokoli'i Island for an adventure day. We can't wait to go back!"

  • Wonderful place in perfect location!

"We stayed at this wonderful home during the Christmas/New Year time 2014/2015. It is a great house for a large family or multiple smaller parties as is offers plenty of room indoors and out - we were 10 and it never felt crowded. The house itself has a great flow and was built by the owner himself - large common rooms (including an epic master suit with huge walk in closet, desks, separate shower and tub etc.). We cooked a lot and loved the outdoor BBQ and patio. The pool was a bit cold due to the cooler weather during our stay, but I understand the owner is going to install a heater system. The separate little pool house with shower and toilet was convenient too, so we could leave all the wet bathing suits outside. The location is perfect - just a quick 1 min walk to the beach through the park. There is a great market and coffee place just around the corner where we walked to almost every day (with a 3 year old, so no long distance). The shave ice store is, of course, famous and amazing and not to be missed. Buzz's cross the bridge is also a quick walk and has some nice food, especially for appetizers and cocktails. Nice hikes close by and great location to start exploring the island from. The beach itself is one of the nicest I have ever been to (and I have traveled a lot!). Gentle waves even in winter, but just enough of a surf for kids to do a bit of boogie boarding. Softest sand ever. And for the sun-conscious - lot's of shade if you want it. Another huge plus - the super cute resident chicken (Cornelia) - who kept our daughter entertained all day, every day! So gentle and sweet. Last but not least, the were lucky enough to meet the owners at the beginning and end of our stay - a wonderful family who will go above and beyond to make you comfortable. We communicated all the time during our stay (questions about how something works, small things that needed fixing, etc.) and they were amazingly helpful and responsive. During a storm when the power went out in the region the next door neighbor even came by and dropped off lanterns just to make sure his neighbor's guests were comfortable and well taken care of! We'd be back, just to see them again! Highly recommend!!"

  • True Hidden GEM!!

"My son and I came to the islands for a family wedding. Nancy's Casa is amazing!! Yes it is not on the beach but the beach is 5 min. drive if that from here. The chocolates, water, juice, bananas etc were so very thoughtful! It is a 2 room cottage. All the things you could need even boogie boards!! BEAUTIFUL!! The fans and a/c cooled the place down great!! VERY CLEAN!!! WE WILL be BACK!!!"
