  • Mom of Four

"We absolutely loved this place! Perfect for a family with kids--nice, clean, attractive, but not too fancy for children. Had everything we needed right down to beach towels, chairs, toys, and boogie boards. Robyn was friendly and so welcoming. Easy walk to the most beautiful beach--gentle waves for young kids who don't swim and good for kids that do swim and want to practice snorkeling (right off beach--I saw a turtle!). Pillbox hike is right around corner--try sunrise! Groceries short drive away--kitchen clean and fully equipped. Some construction noise during the day--but we were busy during the day so this was not a problem. Mornings and evenings were so quiet and peaceful. House is set far back off of road for those worried about toddlers and busy roads. We had such a wonderful time. We want to highly recommend this to your family. Also, the cleaning fee is much more reasonable than most places and the owner applied no extra fees when I wanted to add another adult--some places do charge."

  • Stunning location

"What a beautiful spot! Nestled back from the beach up the hill, the property was naturally much cooler. This made entertaining enjoyable with the evening breeze. The layout made for great socialising as well as being able to get away from everyone when required."

  • Incredible View, Awesome House, Perfect Location!

"I was fortunate to be able to stay at Honu Hale Lanikai with my Mother and 2 of her good friends for 2 weeks. I'm their designated driver...it's a dirty job but someone's go to do it! A few years back we stayed in Kailua and discovered Lanikai and we have been hooked ever since! Our family owns a cottage on a tiny island in The Bahamas and we know great beaches and Lanikai is among the BEST! So to be able to stay right there with that gorgeous water and the Mokes as our view was absolutely incredible! The house is extremely well appointed and was very clean. It's amazing how many extras there are: beach chairs, boogie boards, noodles, outdoor furniture, plenty of extra towels (including beach towels) and sheets, everything for the kitchen even a salad spinner! We love to cook and a well stocked kitchen is so greatly appreciated. There is no dishwasher (not a worry at all for us!) but there is a washer and dryer. The photos of the house are very accurate and as far as the location description the only 'problem' is that the stairs down to the water seem to have deteriorated since the photo was taken. They are not easy to climb (very rough and slippery) so to gain access to the water you have to walk to the other side of the Paul Mitchell estate or 2 houses down the other way. Definitely NOT a big deal! Speaking of the Paul Mitchell estate, it is gorgeous and according to their website it rents for $7200-9300.00 per night and Honu Hale Lanikai has the exact same view! To access the beach from the house, you can walk (it's about 1/4 mile) or drive there and park. Or you can do what I did a few times and walk or swim in the water, maybe you'll see a turtle! Kailua has 3 supermarkets, a Whole Foods and a Sunday morning Farmers Market, so it's very easy to get great produce. We got lucky a few times buying fresh fish along the way to Haleiwa, look for signs along the Kamehameha Hwy. Getting to Honolulu on the Pali is fast and easy. We went to the Academy of Arts that has a couple of wonderful exhibits, Art Deco in Hawaii and Natural Unnatural Supernatural. Lunch there is very good. Also we had lunch at the Hao Tree at the New Otani in Waikiki and it is awesome! The salmon eggs benedict was incredible. We had an absolutely fabulous time. If you are considering a stay on Oahu, look no further. Honu Hale Lanikai is perfect! Mahalo John for opening up your lovely home to us, we can't wait to come back."

"Thank you Jean and Doug. We enjoyed our 35 day stay at this fine example of Old Hawaii.Only a 10 minute walk from the main beach at Lanikai ( voted #1 beach in Hawaii by Travel TV).Great location, very peaceful and wonderful owners to work with. Thank you again for making your home available. We hope to return to Lanikai in the future and would not hesitate to stay here again. Greg and Joyce"
