  • Dreams really do come true!

"Wow! Wow! Wow! This is the sweetest, cutest house with the most amazing view that is perfect for any family or travellers. I have travelled all over the world and this is by far my favorite place! The property is just as the ad states – it is not mis-leading. Sometimes you look at ads like this and this it’s too good to be true. Here- it certainly is true; this has been the one and only place that I have found that is. Gina is over-the-top helpful from car rentals, to property questions to activities provided in a property guide in the home. If you are looking to slow down, here surely is the place to do it. I love it because you can leave during the day and drive around the island to markets, boutiques, the North Shore, etc. and then return to tranquility-relax whilst the sun sets & wake up the next morning to the most amazing sun rises reflecting on the water. Paddle boards and kayaks are a great idea to rent if you want activities daily at the home. I love waking up with the sun & paddle boarding with the sun rising on the water with the crystal-clear bath-like water you can see the turtles & sea life very clearly. You would not regret this one!"

  • Heaven on Earth!l ook no further!

"I spent hours on this site researching the perfect holiday destination on Oahu. This was our first time using VRBO properties and we certainly hit the Jack Pot finding Honu Hale! This was the most relaxing holiday ever in a homely character beach cottage located in the most private and stunning location. Every vista on the property inside and out looks across to the Mokalua Islands, surrounded by crystal tourquoise seas! The sound of the waves lapping up on the sea wall combined with great weather and the balmy sea breeze puts you into relax mode as soon as you arrive here. The home feels well loved and is very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, the ice maker was an added bonus as is all the neat crockery, linen, games, reading materials(which gives you an excellent insight of where to visit, except once you arrive here you don't want to go very far at all!) ,BBQ,hammock, loungers, lanai area, you are spoilt for choice or you can simply sit on the sea wall and watch the turtles swim by.We were all so excited to get the opportunity to feed and swim with these amazing creatures and all on our front doorstep! Four of us shared the house and we loved being together as well as having our own space which is easy to have at Honu Hale. The Dolphin Suite is a self contained large studio and the pictures don't do justice to how it really looks and feels with a huge comfortable bed, soft carpeting, your own TV and music system if you require it!and lots of space, divine views! We slept with the blinds open to be greeted by the sun rise every morning before going down for our morning swim! Our highlights were kayaking across to the islands and along the coastline, walking down to the Kalapawai cafe for our morning coffee, eating in as the Whole Food supermarket in Kaluia is excellent for organic produce.Eating out strongly recommend Buzz's just down the road as well as at the Grove restaurant/cafe in Kaluia. John the owner was very accomodating and easy going as he kindly gave us a later departure time which we appreciated as we had a night flight back to NZ.,Thank you John and Roz for a truely wonderful holiday property and sharing this special place with us.It goes without saying we want to return.Aloha, Mahalo and give my love to the gorgeous Honu Hale turtles!!"

  • Perfect Lanikai Home Base!

"My family and I had an absolutely magnificent time in Lanikai, and the Beach Bum Main Home made it all possible. The home is set into the hillside for amazing views of the sunrise and ocean, and the short walk to the beach is invaluable as parking spots fill up all around. We spent countless hours out on the lanai morning, day and night. And what a jewel of a beach Lanikai is. I saw an article leading up to our trip which listed Laniaki as one of the top 10 beaches in the world, and it lived up to it. Highly, highly recommended to include as part of anyone's Hawai'i itinerary. The house itself is perfect. Nice kitchen with all the supplies you need for home cooked meals, and the breakfast nook is convenient for quick morning eats. The furniture is quality and fits the island theme, the living area is quite spacious and the ceiling fans everywhere keep the place feeling cool. But the tiki bar had to be my personal favorite hangout spot! Bedrooms are also comfy and clean and the two bathrooms are also nice with good showers. Nice bathtub in one of the bathrooms. And not to be overlooked is the beautifully landscaped backyard, with access from the master bedroom. We are already thinking about a return trip to Lanikai and it's hard to think of why we would look elsewhere."

  • Comfort of home - turned our "trip" into a "Vacation"

"I recently had the opportunity to extend a business trip and invite my small family along with me. This was our third and final location of the trip, and turned our trip into a vacation. We first stayed at a hotel in Waikiki (due to business needs), then an Air BNB location in Kaneohe Bay area (great view - but that was all). Landing at the Surf Hale, and having the guidance of Carly and Jeff was just what we needed. Connecting with Carly was easy and timely. Working with her either by text or e-mail we sorted the whole thing out, and got payment arranged via PayPal which was convenient also. The photos and description are accurate, the only difference is that some of the furniture was moved around. All in all it was very convenient and comfortable. There were three of us (myself, my wife, and 7 year old son) and it fit well. The kitchen wasn't huge, but right sized to let us create small meals easily. The walk to the beach was 5 minutes at most to Kailua Beach Park (seems like local hang out, with decent waves for the little grommets), and maybe another 3-5 minutes if you want to head to Lanikai Beach (highly recommended for snorkeling and floating... and just sun soaking). We were a short 5 minute drive from downtown Kailua. We also discovered that her comment about local "wildlife" was accurate as well. We spotted any number of lizards and geckos (my son was pretty excited about that), and had a regular cardinal come and sing to us on the patio in the morning. We should have paid more attention to the comment, and not left our bananas out through the night. It seems that local mice appreciate bananas and one helped himself to about half of a banana. We didn't see him or have anything else nibbled on for the remainder of the trip, so I guess he got his fill. We didn't use the kitchen too much, because Carly and Jeff guided us to a few good spots for food. The first was Kalapawai Cafe. You could get small meals, easy stuff for kids (including PB&J), or something more exotic and island focused (like striped marlin over lemongrass risotto). We also tried out Cactus, a (light?) Mexican restaurant that had island flavor. Not sure exactly how I'd classify it, but when we return to the area we'll go there again. Last we went to Kailua General Store for light fluffy shave ice. If we find ourselves back on Oahu we'll definitely seek out Carly and Jeff to see if the Surf Hale is available. Great spot to relax and enjoy."
