  • Bungalow in the Sky

"We had lovely 10-day stay and almost perfect 85F weather. The loft has a wonderful porch looking east -- great place to relax at the end of the day. Lynn, Michelle, Dirk and Junior (the dog) were perfect hosts and made us feel welcome. Great location near beaches and Kailua downtown (especially Whole Foods and Farmers Market). We were able to cook most of our meals -- which made the trip both economical and food-choice healthy. The loft was clean and full of light (lots of windows). Off street parking was available. As the VRBO ad indicates --- you can use the various beach gear (chairs, etc.). Laundry facilities were excellent -- and essential after a day at the beach."

  • Awesome Place

"Fantastic spot for our large family. House was cozy and roomy for us all. Definitley loved the view as we could see the Mokulua Islands and sea turtles right from the living room. Will be back."

  • Wonderful Lanikai!

"What a wonderful stay We had in such a terrific house! The beach access to gorgeous Lanikai Beach is right across the street so we could pop over anytime and really enjoyed being on the beach in the full moon. My adult children were able to do all the strenuous hiking they wanted and Honolulu was just 25 minutes away for Christmas shopping. This home and kitchen is wonderfully supplied with everything we needed. Reenie and Barney were available for questions and made us feel very welcome. We will be back!"

  • Incredible View, Awesome House, Perfect Location!

"I was fortunate to be able to stay at Honu Hale Lanikai with my Mother and 2 of her good friends for 2 weeks. I'm their designated driver...it's a dirty job but someone's go to do it! A few years back we stayed in Kailua and discovered Lanikai and we have been hooked ever since! Our family owns a cottage on a tiny island in The Bahamas and we know great beaches and Lanikai is among the BEST! So to be able to stay right there with that gorgeous water and the Mokes as our view was absolutely incredible! The house is extremely well appointed and was very clean. It's amazing how many extras there are: beach chairs, boogie boards, noodles, outdoor furniture, plenty of extra towels (including beach towels) and sheets, everything for the kitchen even a salad spinner! We love to cook and a well stocked kitchen is so greatly appreciated. There is no dishwasher (not a worry at all for us!) but there is a washer and dryer. The photos of the house are very accurate and as far as the location description the only 'problem' is that the stairs down to the water seem to have deteriorated since the photo was taken. They are not easy to climb (very rough and slippery) so to gain access to the water you have to walk to the other side of the Paul Mitchell estate or 2 houses down the other way. Definitely NOT a big deal! Speaking of the Paul Mitchell estate, it is gorgeous and according to their website it rents for $7200-9300.00 per night and Honu Hale Lanikai has the exact same view! To access the beach from the house, you can walk (it's about 1/4 mile) or drive there and park. Or you can do what I did a few times and walk or swim in the water, maybe you'll see a turtle! Kailua has 3 supermarkets, a Whole Foods and a Sunday morning Farmers Market, so it's very easy to get great produce. We got lucky a few times buying fresh fish along the way to Haleiwa, look for signs along the Kamehameha Hwy. Getting to Honolulu on the Pali is fast and easy. We went to the Academy of Arts that has a couple of wonderful exhibits, Art Deco in Hawaii and Natural Unnatural Supernatural. Lunch there is very good. Also we had lunch at the Hao Tree at the New Otani in Waikiki and it is awesome! The salmon eggs benedict was incredible. We had an absolutely fabulous time. If you are considering a stay on Oahu, look no further. Honu Hale Lanikai is perfect! Mahalo John for opening up your lovely home to us, we can't wait to come back."
