  • Relaxing holiday home

"What a fantastic holiday home! Our family of 2 adults and 2 young children loved everything about it. Very spacious and has everything you could possibly need. Lanikai and Kailua beaches are breathtakingly beautiful and only an easy walk away. There is plenty of beach equipment for the kids which came in handy, as well as the outside shower to wash off after the beach. The pillbox hike is worth the effort for the amazing views but wouldn't take young children. Would highly recommend this holiday rental to anyone. We will definitely be back :)"

  • Incredible View, Awesome House, Perfect Location!

"I was fortunate to be able to stay at Honu Hale Lanikai with my Mother and 2 of her good friends for 2 weeks. I'm their designated driver...it's a dirty job but someone's go to do it! A few years back we stayed in Kailua and discovered Lanikai and we have been hooked ever since! Our family owns a cottage on a tiny island in The Bahamas and we know great beaches and Lanikai is among the BEST! So to be able to stay right there with that gorgeous water and the Mokes as our view was absolutely incredible! The house is extremely well appointed and was very clean. It's amazing how many extras there are: beach chairs, boogie boards, noodles, outdoor furniture, plenty of extra towels (including beach towels) and sheets, everything for the kitchen even a salad spinner! We love to cook and a well stocked kitchen is so greatly appreciated. There is no dishwasher (not a worry at all for us!) but there is a washer and dryer. The photos of the house are very accurate and as far as the location description the only 'problem' is that the stairs down to the water seem to have deteriorated since the photo was taken. They are not easy to climb (very rough and slippery) so to gain access to the water you have to walk to the other side of the Paul Mitchell estate or 2 houses down the other way. Definitely NOT a big deal! Speaking of the Paul Mitchell estate, it is gorgeous and according to their website it rents for $7200-9300.00 per night and Honu Hale Lanikai has the exact same view! To access the beach from the house, you can walk (it's about 1/4 mile) or drive there and park. Or you can do what I did a few times and walk or swim in the water, maybe you'll see a turtle! Kailua has 3 supermarkets, a Whole Foods and a Sunday morning Farmers Market, so it's very easy to get great produce. We got lucky a few times buying fresh fish along the way to Haleiwa, look for signs along the Kamehameha Hwy. Getting to Honolulu on the Pali is fast and easy. We went to the Academy of Arts that has a couple of wonderful exhibits, Art Deco in Hawaii and Natural Unnatural Supernatural. Lunch there is very good. Also we had lunch at the Hao Tree at the New Otani in Waikiki and it is awesome! The salmon eggs benedict was incredible. We had an absolutely fabulous time. If you are considering a stay on Oahu, look no further. Honu Hale Lanikai is perfect! Mahalo John for opening up your lovely home to us, we can't wait to come back."

  • Best of Everything

"My family of six stayed for an amazing, fun-packed, eight days on Oahu to celebrate our 25th anniversary. An agreed upon highlight of the trip was this wonderful home in Lanikai and the friendly, laid back environment of eastern side of the island. We did a ton of research on renting vs hotel, and were pleased that the listing and pictures were very accurate. Brian was very informative, responsive and accommodating during our last-minute decision process. The house is quite large with a generous patio and ample space for my wife and I, my 3 teenagers and my 10 year old who lived in the pool when we were not site seeing. There are 3 full baths (one connected to the master suite), two with showers and one jetted tub--style and decor were a little dated but totally adequate. The bedrooms all had comfortable beds and have ACs which was nice with the humidity and when the trade winds were calm. The updated kitchen is good sized and well stocked and it and the living room have large fans which were adequate for cooling. This home is located on a very quiet street just 2 1/2 blocks from the most beautiful beach I have ever seen and two houses down from the pill box hike (highly recommended-bring you camera). We talked with several people on the beach who said "they live here now"--wouldn't that be great! The location was convenient to the whole island and having a large private pool was a huge win for our trip and well worth a little extra rent as we used it several times a day. We stayed in a top-rated Waikiki hotel the last two days of our trip, and we all longed to be back to the peace and quiet of Lanikai. The home comes with 6 boogie boards, rolling coolers, beach umbrellas, towels and chairs and enough snorkeling equipment for our needs, which were all so very convenient to not have to rent or buy. There is also a book on site with recommended sites and activities, which were helpful. Only small con:The house next door in view to the ocean from the upstairs deck was unoccupied and run-down, but looked like it might be remodeled soon. Overall this is was a great choice and the best location, we loved our stay in this great family home and would highly recommend to anyone thinking about a trip to Oahu."

  • Hawaii at its best

"My grandaughter and I stayed at the cottage prior to her freshman year at the University of Hawaii. We are from San Diego and have spent time on all of the islands but this Cottage at this location is one of the top locations. Walking distance to one of the top 10 beaches in the world, short drive to Kailua that offers unique shopping and dining, 40 minutes from Waikiki beach and you have the best of the best! Snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding are all readily available. We will definetly return !"
