  • My Hale away from Home!

"I spent three of my four weeks in Hawaii in this cottage in Kailua (The first was on the Big Island in a timeshare.) and had an absolutely wonderful time! It has an open, airy feeling and was just the right size for me so that I felt like I was at home in my own apartment. Having access to the pool and grill in the backyard were especially important to me, and the Jacuzzi felt fantastic after attending my weekly boot camps at a gym in Honolulu. The walk to Kailua Beach is a mere block or two away and ends up in a section that doesn't get as crowded as the beach park area further south. I could also walk (or drive) to the business district and have delicious breakfasts and the best Americano (sorry Starbucks!) at a little café called Morning Brew. As for the landlords, Susan and Claude were delightful and so accommodating! They ventured all the way to Waikiki with me (a far distance for these settled-in town dwellers!) to attend Hawaii Five-0's Sunset on the Beach premier...what great sports! And their Bubbly Sundays, where they serve Prosecco and grilled foods to whomever of their family and friends that show up, were a lot of fun. The only drawback was that the island was experiencing unseasonably hot, humid weather for a couple weeks because of the absence of the usual trade winds, so the apartment got hot and stuffy during the day. But the large ceiling exhaust fan and the little fans placed around the cottage helped alleviate the heat and, since I was out and about during most days anyway, it wasn't a major problem. (Maybe a strategically placed swamp cooler in the kitchen/living area would help keep it cooler.) I would rent this cottage again without any hesitation. Mahalo, Susan and Claude, for helping to make my dream vacation in Hawaii extra special!"

  • Wonderful Place

"I stayed here with my husband and our 7 yr old for 9 days. We had a fantastic time. The cottage is very clean and pleasant. The private lanai and grill, w/d, outdoor heated shower, nice linens, boogie boards and well-outfitted kitchen were great. The convenience of being so close the beach and Kalapawai Store made our swim/eat/nap/repeat routine very easy and we could maximize our time on the beach. The owner and manager were very pleasant. Can't wait to get back there again!"

  • Perfect location, great cottage

"We loved Kelly & Pat's beautiful, spacious and well-appointed cottage, just a short stroll to one of the top beaches in the world. They thought of everything- lots of beach equipment, plentiful towels, washer/dryer, kitchen, and a super comfortable space with a big screen porch for sleeping, lounging, watching movies or eating. They are perfect hosts- friendly, welcoming and responsive, but also leave you alone to enjoy your vacation. We will definitely be back- what a great experience. (and the price is really reasonable for the amount of space and amenities)."

  • Relax and unwind here!

"We came to Bay Drive Cottage in severe need of rest and relaxation. Our week here was the cure we were seeking. The owners were friendly but not intrusive. The well-appointed cottage had everything the two of us wanted, including plenty of quiet. We were able to cook our own meals when we wished or we could go into either Kaneohe or Kailua for an evening out. Honolulu was only about a 20 mile drive, so we could take in the museums and historical sites - and then leave the crowds and craziness behind when we returned "home". The trade winds kept the cottage cool, so we didn't even need the air conditioning. The occasional brief rain showers helped us to slow down and listen to the rhythms of nature. We were very satisfied with our stay here and recommend this place highly."
