  • Serenity Discovered

"A Big Thank you to Karen & Brian, Bella & Curly for providing us the first really relaxing vacation we have ever been on! We are usually in Waikiki and very ready to go home after 7-8 days, this time we really did NOT want to leave. This place was truly our little piece of Paradise to come home to. We really did have beach access right across the street. We got up every morning to watch the sunrise over Rabbit Island and even drove out to hike the 30 minutes to see an amazing sunrise at the Makapu'u lighthouse trail. We even saw whales playing in the morning rays. There was exceptional snorkeling at the Kaiiona park! There was so much to do relaxing on private beautiful serene beaches and eating all the local cuisine. The little Shima's supermarket had the most wonderful fresh papaya every day, but you have to get there early as it goes fast. They also have an Amazing Poke Bar that is a must see! Brian & Karen are so welcoming and wonderful! They really thought of all the comforts of home. There is a ceiling fan & area air conditioning unit that creates a very comfortable temperature. The unit is very roomy & even though it was only 2 of us we would have been still very comfortable with 4 people. We will definitely use this little hide-a-way in the future if there is availability. Mahalo for the Sweet Hawaiian Spirit of this Beachside Paradise!"

  • St. Joseph Island Canada LOVES WAIMANALO!

"Five stars for certain folks!!! We live in a pretty little rural area in Ontario and we wanted the same experience, but Hawai'i style....we found it times 10. Our hosts are hard working, kind and friendly people who gave us a true Oahu home feel the moment we met them. Everything you need is here and more. After exploring your island paradise, you come back to a comfortable, clean and very nicely decorated cabin with its own yard and beautiful tropical garden surrounding you. Singing birds and waves greet you each morning as you awake and it truly feels like heaven. Everyone in Waimanalo are friendly and good people. The beach is beautiful and the water was so fun to just float in while the waves pulled us up and down. We laughed and laughed as we found our 'water' wings. Crossing the busy road is no big deal because the drivers will stop and allow you to cross safely to the beach that is right there adjacent to your cabin! It's fantastic!!! Other visitors were there, but sparse and we felt so safe and at home in all areas. The pineapple is the most fragrant and delicious you will ever taste as well as the local farm stand treats, breads, fresh fruit and veg. Ono's is a great place to eat and it's just down the road. If you've done your research, it's a top rated 'local' hang out to eat. Driving from our pretty spot was easy and surprisingly fast. We did the north highway tour and snorkelled at Shark's Cove, Dole plantation, Pearl Harbour and more...coming back to our beautiful personal cabin, warm evening winds and our new 'family' who always gave us our privacy, but were always there if we needed them. They are truly kind and sweet people and if you like your own space when visiting instead of a crowded hotel in a fast paced Honolulu or Waikiki...stay won't be disappointed. Falling asleep in the cabin was a wonderful, relaxing experience. The bedroom is so nice and you not only have a full indoor bathroom, but an outside shower to use if you want to wash off the salty sea water from the day. Protective turtles grace the front gate. We found such a peaceful feeling in our hearts when we learned that they play that roll. I have hung three wooden and stone turtles in our Ontario home now as a memory of the feeling they gave us...I could go on and on about our hosts and what they gave us on this trip...we love them like family now!!! Mahalo Rose and Koa....good people, good living and a beautiful set of memories for us to hold now forever!!"

  • Secret getaway

"Sweet honeymoon or couples getaway spot. The view and location are good for exploring the island and getting away from the tourist scene. Tucked between 2 larger rental homes. Both were rented by families with small children and grandparents when we were there. We enjoyed chatting and it's so much better than fighting for a chaise at a big resort! Parking and the entry from the road are a bit tight. Cooking was fine especially for breakfast. A little more of a challenge if you have a chef doing dinner (no dishwasher). There is a charcoal grill so grilling up fresh fish is a good way to go. Nothing better than fresh fish with an amazing view. The office manager Laycie is very responsive in answering questions. King size bed upstairs in a little loft, bath is downstairs. We never used the shower because there is an enclosed outside one that was wonderful, with an ocean view! There is some road noise as the house is between the main road and ocean. We had coffee on the pier for the amazing sunrises but if you're wanting to sleep in it could be a drawback. This is a laid back place, go with low expectations and the view, amazing beaches and fabulous weather make it 5 stars."

  • Zen Tree House

"We had the most amazing 8 night stay. The apartment looked exactly like the photographs, and the beach was a 3 minute walk. There was a perfect balance between being looked after by the owners, without it ever feeling intrusive. We chose it for peace, sunshine & rest, which is exactly what we got. Can't wait to stay there again."
