  • Incredibly thoughtful & extremely generous hosts!

"Thank you Barb & Jay for your hospitality, for being such thoughtful and generous hosts! We especially enjoyed the treats (fresh papaya, guava drinks, orange juice, chips, eggs, bread, milk, cream, cereal, granola bars, etc. ) waiting for us when we arrived, too tired to think of grocery shopping... we loved being so close to a wonderful beach (one where I could actually go in the water!) and having a cozy, comfy, quiet place to come back to after a day of hiking or swimming... other things we really appreciated: Barb's binder with info on local restaurants, etc. (our favourite was the Thai place) ; wifi that worked without a hitch ; a washer and dryer, and lots of hot water... we loved the deck, private yet open with lots of light, and the fact that the house was set back from the street, well-hidden in a quiet little nook... Barb & Jay, you were the perfect hosts, easy to do business with, great communicators, thank you again for a rental that we enjoyed immensely and that we recommend to other vacationers without hesitation."

  • Wonderful Time!

"This house is wonderful, there is so much room in this house my two year old grandson was in heaven running all over the place. The house is decorated very well, a beautifully carved dinning room table and desk in the master bedroom, little knickknacks everywhere, a large kitchen.. well equipped.. and a great area for watching TV, the bedrooms were very comfortable and when the trade winds came up very cool. The master bedroom opened up to the lanai and we had fun sitting out there in the evenings. The property was very crisp and clean at all times, the pictures are very accurate in showing how well the house is maintained. The beach is very close to the house, a few steps and there you are, at a beautiful secluded beach, very calm, my five year old granddaughters first time in the ocean and she had no problems with the surf, she did get stung by a jellyfish and the owner was great in helping us with what to do. The owners were very helpful with a lot of local information and made sure we were happy at all times, she even brought up some toys for my grandson to play with. They also recommended some local restaurants and one of them, ono steak and shrimp shack, was our favorite, a little hole in the wall but great food and low cost. They also have plenty of beach equipment for us to use and we took full advantage of it. All in all I would recommend this house to anyone who appreciates a clean big house with great owners that want to please there tenants. Mahalo for a great stay and for being great to deal with, we hope to see you again soon!"

  • great stay and location

"After going around various places at Oahu I strongly believe that Waimanalo beach is the best fit for those who are seeking a romantic and crowdless setting. Great sandy beach is behind the door (cottage is located in front line with short passage to the beach), almost no people there. The village itself is very beautiful with all necessary facilities available e.g shops and places to eat. Further on, there are a lot of places of interests in the short distance - I was waking up every day at 6am and went for one of nearby hiking routes like Koko Head and others. Equally convenient coastal road to the direction of Honolulu and to north where we have been to Kualoa ranch."

  • Beautiful beachfront property

"Hawaiian Sunrise is located on what may be the most beautiful white sandy beach anywhere. It's a perfect location from which to walk or run along the sand to the south, where you can swim in the tidal pool outside the house where Magnum, P.I. was filmed, or even better, to the north along a stretch of state park on the way to Bellows AFB that has a beautiful ironwood forest and few people other than locals who come out on weekends. The week we stayed with two families including 4 children between the ages of 11 and 15, the beach was great for boogie boarding every day, and calm enough for paddleboarding a couple of days. The kitchen is open and well-stocked, with a large dining table that fit our families easily when we ate indoors, and made it easy to gather while cooking. The outdoor patio also has a couple of tables if you want to dine next to the charcoal grill pits. The cottage is an adorable, private space for a couple to stay apart from the main house, and the outdoor shower with hot water was a welcome surprise. The owner was very hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy a wonderful week. We can't wait to return!"
