"This was our second vacation to Hawaii and the only reason we came to Oahu was so my mother could visit Pearl Harbor. We opted to stay for 5 days this time so we could also take her to Hanauma Bay, Dole Plantation and to the North Shore for Giovanni's Shrimp Truck.
Driving Honolulu is about like a kidney stone. Very painful and you are glad when it is over. So I had really taken Oahu off the list. But ...
Staying at the Sunrise Beach House in Waimanolo touched my heart. The location is "remote" in comparison to Waikiki and was 15 minutes from Hanuma Bay! The house itself was almost perfect! It is very well stocked and was perfect size for our party of 7.
The only criticism I have is the dang air conditioning issue that you deal with with almost any rental in Hawaii. I picked this house based on location, reviews and the fact that it had AC!! The air in all the bedrooms worked beautifully and we slept soooo well. The beds were comfortable and closing the door made the temperature perfect. But the main area of the house where the kitchen, living room and dining area is located does not have AC. In the evening it was just simply too hot to enjoy sitting and talking while cooking. If this place had a hotel style AC unit in the living room it would be PERFECT! I know all about the sea breeze and opening the windows but in front of this house is a larger house that all but blocks the wind so it was just not comfortable in the evening time during our June stay.
The only other thing we noticed was the lack of washcloths. We couldn't find a single one but we also didn't call the owner which I am sure would have been very responsive as he was during the other communications. No big deal.
But our time was still spectacular because of, well, everything else. The washer and dryer, the provided beach gear and snorkeling gear as well as the hot tub, wifi, and fresh mangos from the tree daily.
The access to one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen is literally a half city block away. You MUST go for sunrise. Every day if you can as it is a different show every morning.
I SO wish we would have scheduled a day to just "be" at the house. Everyone wanted to stay but when we planned out trip I was trying to get us out of town as fast as possible. I will not make that mistake again. I will keep Oahu on the list. I will come back to this house and stay for a while. I just don't know when.
So Mahalo for renti"

"Thx Scott you're a wonderful host! Our family had a great time here. The location is very convenience - beautiful beach nearby with a few great places to eat! Your beach house is clean, big enough to fit our family of 3. Would recommend your place for sure. Hope to come back soon!!"

"Gilles and Angela are the owners of this property and very attentive. Upon arriving our cottage was not ready for us. So we went across the street to the beach. The small walk way lead to the most beautiful beach ever! Four years ago my husband and I got married on this beach! This was the main reason for staying at this location in Waimanalo! My husband and I walked down to the beach and dipped our toes in the warm ocean. It was glorious! Giving Angela some time to finish getting our cottage ready for us we stayed at the beach for an hour. Upon entering our cottage it was decorated in bright vibrate colors...lots of paintings and shells! Angela and Gilles made every attempt to help us if we were ever in need of anything! The property had a secure gate..lots of trees and plants and flowers in the yard. It has a BBQ that we used on several occasions! It was wonderful! We stayed 10 nights and it went too fast! If we are ever in Oahu again we will definitely stay here! Considering it is available! Thank you Gilles and Angela! Xoxo"

"We had lovely 10-day stay and almost perfect 85F weather. The loft has a wonderful porch looking east -- great place to relax at the end of the day.
Lynn, Michelle, Dirk and Junior (the dog) were perfect hosts and made us feel welcome. Great location near beaches and Kailua downtown (especially Whole Foods and Farmers Market). We were able to cook most of our meals -- which made the trip both economical and food-choice healthy.
The loft was clean and full of light (lots of windows). Off street parking was available. As the VRBO ad indicates --- you can use the various beach gear (chairs, etc.). Laundry facilities were excellent -- and essential after a day at the beach."
