  • Perfect Vacation Rental in Oahu

"We just got back from a great vacation in Hawaii. My husband and I, along with our 6 teenagers (from 14-18 years), stayed at this rental property for 10 awesome days. Since this is our first time in Hawaii, we wanted to be able to visit as many attractions as we possibly could. However, hotel stay was never an option because that would mean very costly meals. (The young ones are all athletes so you can just imagine how much food these human garbage-disposals can inhale). We decided on this home because it’s very close to the beach, has all the toys for the teens, fits 8 people, reasonably priced, and close enough to all the attractions in the island - and Mark is very good to work with. 15 mins to Costco/Sea Life Park/various beaches/Hanauma Bay, 30 mins to airport/Pearl Harbor/Aloha Stadium/Honolulu, 1 hour to PCC/Kualoa Ranch/North Shore/Dole Plantation. This is a great house to come home to after a busy day of adventures. On days that we come home and there’s daylight, the kids are sure head out to the beach (with the toys) and spend an hour or two in the water. I think Waimanalo Beach is the best one in the island - private, clean, sandy not rocky. Of all the activities we’ve done during our stay, the kids' favorite is their time on the beach – go figure. We had to adapt to the sound of roosters in the morning, the early morning rain (love it!), and the sea breeze coming in the house. We never got into the habit of closing the doors inside the house so they are constantly slamming because of the breeze (sorry again Mark). The cars driving by the main road (one house away) may wake you up early in the morning, but can be easily fixed by closing your windows and turning on the a/c - but we got used to it after 2 days. Having a washer/dryer, wi-fi, hot tub and big screen tv also made our stay feel like home. Thank you Mark."

  • Best of Everything

"My family of six stayed for an amazing, fun-packed, eight days on Oahu to celebrate our 25th anniversary. An agreed upon highlight of the trip was this wonderful home in Lanikai and the friendly, laid back environment of eastern side of the island. We did a ton of research on renting vs hotel, and were pleased that the listing and pictures were very accurate. Brian was very informative, responsive and accommodating during our last-minute decision process. The house is quite large with a generous patio and ample space for my wife and I, my 3 teenagers and my 10 year old who lived in the pool when we were not site seeing. There are 3 full baths (one connected to the master suite), two with showers and one jetted tub--style and decor were a little dated but totally adequate. The bedrooms all had comfortable beds and have ACs which was nice with the humidity and when the trade winds were calm. The updated kitchen is good sized and well stocked and it and the living room have large fans which were adequate for cooling. This home is located on a very quiet street just 2 1/2 blocks from the most beautiful beach I have ever seen and two houses down from the pill box hike (highly recommended-bring you camera). We talked with several people on the beach who said "they live here now"--wouldn't that be great! The location was convenient to the whole island and having a large private pool was a huge win for our trip and well worth a little extra rent as we used it several times a day. We stayed in a top-rated Waikiki hotel the last two days of our trip, and we all longed to be back to the peace and quiet of Lanikai. The home comes with 6 boogie boards, rolling coolers, beach umbrellas, towels and chairs and enough snorkeling equipment for our needs, which were all so very convenient to not have to rent or buy. There is also a book on site with recommended sites and activities, which were helpful. Only small con:The house next door in view to the ocean from the upstairs deck was unoccupied and run-down, but looked like it might be remodeled soon. Overall this is was a great choice and the best location, we loved our stay in this great family home and would highly recommend to anyone thinking about a trip to Oahu."

  • Every One Needs A Little Aloha... and this is the place to find it!

"Let's put it this way- when we closed the gate on our final day and said our goodbyes, we all got a little teary eyed. Our family was looking for beauty, tranquility, and a paradise away from the hustle and bustle of our every day lives. When we arrived, everything was as described in the listing and so much more. If you are looking for a vacation rental away from the typical tourist traps but an easy drive from just about everything on the island, look no further. Our goal was to wake up, walk out on the lanai and drink our coffee before hitting the beaches, the north shore, the hiking and waterfalls and Hale 'O Bali was the prime location to get to it all! And if we wanted to just relax, you couldn't get any better with the beautiful views of the ocean off the lanai, the mountains on the opposite side and the beautiful landscaping on the property itself. I have to speak to the excellent correspondence from Leilani throughout the reservation process. We had never booked a rental like this before, and all our worries seem to melt into thin air. We never had to wait more than 24 hours to get a response (and that's even with the time difference!). There were no surprises (no bad ones that is) and all the amenities as described were accurately portrayed and better than imagined. The rental was stocked with a lot of extras (beach/picnic gear, bathroom products, condiments for cooking, etc.) Originally, we had planned on only 3 people (My husband and I and our teenage son) but were ecstatic that our college age daughter was able to come with, last minute. Leilani was extremely accommodating to our last minute addition and we are so grateful! Just a note to those who read this review: The rental is not soundproof. HOWEVER, we found this to enhance the beauty of this place and the authenticity of the experience we were after. The sounds of the water on the shore, the fountain/pond from the master bedroom, the foliage and swaying of the trees against the wind, the soft breezes throughout the house and even the crowing of the rooster in the morning (We do not agree with prior reviews as far as the rooster...we Loved this!) was just the type of "zen" we were seeking! As I said when I started this review, we were all teary eyed when we left....we didn't WANT to leave. Aloha and Mahalo for welcoming us to your beautiful paradise!! We cannot WAIT to return(We are already checking dates for 2015)!!"

  • It's like staying with family!

"Staying at Palm Cottage was the BEST part of our trip to Hawaii!!! Words can't adequately express what an AMAZING place this is! The owners, Millie & Norm, went ABOVE & BEYOND to do everything they could to help us. . . we felt like we were house guests of close friends/family!!! Our cottage was PERFECT for us! At first we were hesitant when we heard there was no A/C-however, we found out immediately that our concern was in vain. There were numerous windows (with screens & blinds) that welcomed the ocean breeze CONSTANTLY. We stayed cool the entire time. . . the temperature was perfect. It added to the Hawaiian atmosphere-it was incredibly pleasant. (tip: make sure you raise the blinds when you sleep-as the wind will knock them against the window frame. :-) The windows are high enough above the bed that you won't be visible from outside). The cottage itself is SUPER clean. . . in fact, everything in it appears to be brand new. Millie & Norm thought of everything a house guest could possibly need OR WANT!!! As soon as we arrived they greeted us with a basket full of basic food necessities & treats. We had apples, bananas, Hawaiian jelly, sweet rolls, pastries, Hawaiian chocolates, chips, and salsa. The fridge was stocked with milk, eggs, fruit juice, sausage, etc. The cupboards were also filled with all kinds of food & condiments. We hardly had to buy any groceries at all!!!! The bathroom was stocked with beach towels, beach bag, a cooler beach bags, sunblock, soaps, shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer, lotions, & more!!! They also provide an iron. On top of all of this, we even found out that we would have access to our own "DVD rental place"! Norm has a HUGE collection of DVD movies & we borrowed a few. After a busy day of activities, it was so nice to relax watching a good movie at night! (they even provided popcorn : )! The view from the porch is amazing! Millie & Norm have been gifted with "green thumbs" & their backyard is a mini botanical garden. All kinds of fruit trees, beautiful flowers, and plants covered their yard. Millie even generously shared a butternut squash & papaya with us! The walk to Kailua beach took about 10-12 minutes. One day we even walked to Lanikai Beach (about 25 minutes). The walk to town (plenty of grocery stores & restaurants was around 10 minutes). Any questions we had, Millie & Norm were MORE than willing to help us, and offer fantastic advice about the island. If I could sum up the cottage in a word "AMAZING" MUST STAY!!!"
