  • A little bit of Shangri-La

"We loved staying at Michael and Sarah's castle so much for the month of July, 2014, that we decided to revisit with some friends and relatives for the month of March, 2015. Well, I am happy to report that nothing about the comforts and hospitality have changed. What has changed is that Michael and Sarah continue to work daily from sun-up to sun-down, and sometimes into the night, grooming their piece of Shangri-La. The landscaping just blossoms with beautiful tropical vegetation and fruit bearing trees. I won't go into much of what we did because I believe I said it all in my July write-up. Incidentally, our son, daughter-in-law and five grandchildren continue to rave about their month-stay in paradise in July, 2014. We did however, discover a few more places and eateries this time in and around Pupukea, such as the Red Truck for French Toast, the Impossible Pizza for a pizza that overflows the large box, and the other food trucks that flourish on the North Shore. We spent more time coming the beaches for pieces of sea glass that washed in and spoke with a couple of surf fisherman for some interesting discussions. Visits to the beach near Haleiwa where several turtles reside and are protected, was a treat for those who visited. This trip we also took the time to visit Pu'u Mahuka Heiau "Hill of Escape" State Monument off Pupukea Homestead Road and the Kukaniloko Royal Birthing Stones, a sacred site located in the middle of a sugar cane field near Wahiawa. We also found Leonard's Bakery (home of Malasadas) on Kapahulu Ave., Honolulu, for the best Portuguese Malasadas you'll ever eat. Just being able to relax in a beautiful home located in a near-perfect tropical setting with the perfect hosts is all you need to know about this property to want to return again and again and again. Mahalo nui loa Michael and Sarah for sharing your beautiful piece of paradise with us and for being the perfect hosts and landlords. We will be back. David, Ceil, Jean, Shirley, Robert & Becky and all our visitors."

"Best Vacation What a surprise this home was better than we expected and very close to everything we wanted, we spent lots of joyful times during our weeks stay. at Dayle's wonderful home. This is a WONDERFUL home and the property was close to all north shore beaches. Working with Dayle the owner was great. What you see in the photos is exactly what you get. We loved the laid back feel of the North East Shore.. We took good care of the property. Can't rate this highly enough. WE WILL BE BACK YEARLY!! Sasha and Jim Walbock North Carolina"

  • Great beach front home!

"The location was amazing. We were on the beach. The sunsets from the deck were incredible and the grill, picnic table and hammocks made us like we were in our own backyard. The home was clean and well kept. The kitchen was well eqipped. The outdoir shower was so convenient for removing sand. Its git hot water so we never showered inside. The locsl food trucks had great food and the grocery store was only a mile away. Aside from tge 5:30 wake up call from the free roaming rooster everything was perfect"

  • Dream Vacation

"We had a dream vacation. The house accommodated 9 of us perfectly. We especially liked the kitchen/dining area, porch, and of course the wonderful location on the beach. The kids, body surfed, snorkeled, and found lots of sea glass. A week went by way to quick and we definitely want to come back. Thanks, Rai, you were great to work with."
