  • A little bit of Shangri-La

"We loved staying at Michael and Sarah's castle so much for the month of July, 2014, that we decided to revisit with some friends and relatives for the month of March, 2015. Well, I am happy to report that nothing about the comforts and hospitality have changed. What has changed is that Michael and Sarah continue to work daily from sun-up to sun-down, and sometimes into the night, grooming their piece of Shangri-La. The landscaping just blossoms with beautiful tropical vegetation and fruit bearing trees. I won't go into much of what we did because I believe I said it all in my July write-up. Incidentally, our son, daughter-in-law and five grandchildren continue to rave about their month-stay in paradise in July, 2014. We did however, discover a few more places and eateries this time in and around Pupukea, such as the Red Truck for French Toast, the Impossible Pizza for a pizza that overflows the large box, and the other food trucks that flourish on the North Shore. We spent more time coming the beaches for pieces of sea glass that washed in and spoke with a couple of surf fisherman for some interesting discussions. Visits to the beach near Haleiwa where several turtles reside and are protected, was a treat for those who visited. This trip we also took the time to visit Pu'u Mahuka Heiau "Hill of Escape" State Monument off Pupukea Homestead Road and the Kukaniloko Royal Birthing Stones, a sacred site located in the middle of a sugar cane field near Wahiawa. We also found Leonard's Bakery (home of Malasadas) on Kapahulu Ave., Honolulu, for the best Portuguese Malasadas you'll ever eat. Just being able to relax in a beautiful home located in a near-perfect tropical setting with the perfect hosts is all you need to know about this property to want to return again and again and again. Mahalo nui loa Michael and Sarah for sharing your beautiful piece of paradise with us and for being the perfect hosts and landlords. We will be back. David, Ceil, Jean, Shirley, Robert & Becky and all our visitors."

  • Dream Vacation

"We had a dream vacation. The house accommodated 9 of us perfectly. We especially liked the kitchen/dining area, porch, and of course the wonderful location on the beach. The kids, body surfed, snorkeled, and found lots of sea glass. A week went by way to quick and we definitely want to come back. Thanks, Rai, you were great to work with."

  • Ocean front GEM

"Lovely views. Easily i could spend days sitting and enjoying the ocean in the view dock. When you are on the view dock, you are out front close to ocean, everything else is behind you.Our big group had a wonderful time. Very close to all north shore attractions. The house itself is not new or modern, but will give you cozy feeling. You could save lot of rental money by using beach toys/gears available at home. It was super easy and cool to deal with Steve. Thank you Steve."

  • Wish I were still there!

"This is a new, gorgeous house on the best strip of beach in the world! (at least if you like world class waves, and the entertainment of watching pro surfers). We had 8 of us stay here, and loved the location, amenities, upgraded furnishings, and a pleasant easier to do business with manager (Thanks Kelly) We will happily go back! It's perfect for 3 couples and 4 children, due to 3 masters and a bunk room. Worked perfect for us. Sand 20' off the back door, private secluded beach access, down from the high traffic zone, but close to see the action. Bike to Ted's Bakery for breakfast, of Sushi from Foodland, or Shrimp off of one of the trucks on Kamehameha Highway."
