  • What a location!

"This was our first time renting a home through VRBO and I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. The house was clean and quite large, plenty of room for the four of us and probably 3 or 4 more...The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to buy provisions at the local store down the road (Foodland?) and cooked our dinners each night. We even used the grill one night for steaks and seafood. Lovely. And the beach front right as one walks out of the kitchen was AMAZING. We did see a couple of turtles at a distance, nothing up close unfortunately. The protected beach just down the way (within walking distance) was lovely for swimming and nice for snorkeling too. What a great supply of swimming and snorkeling equipment the owners make available...We were all able to snorkel; what a fun time that was. We even had a cat visit us a few times which was nice because we were missing our Mr. Tibbs back home. I agree with a previous reviewer that the master bed is SO comfortable, and I loved listening to the waves all night. The traffic is pretty heavy in the area (I guess this is true in much of Hawaii) so plan accordingly when you want to go visit other parts of the island. We went to Pearl Harbor and then to Hanauma Bay on the south end of the island for snorkeling. What a gorgeous beach, but not really a swimming beach. Take your snorkeling gear including flippers if you're heading there. And yes, the owner is lovely to work with. I only wish we had a longer stay there, we had to leave after 4 days."

  • Great condo great location!

"I stayed here with my husband and daughter for 6 nights. Jill gives absolutely perfect instructions for access to the condo from the airport! The condo is in a perfect location on the ground floor just steps from the beach. The complex is older but the cinder block buildings make for no noise heard from adjoining units. The condo is beautifully updated and has all necessary amenities in the unit. It's well kept and clean. I wouldn't recommend this unit for 5 people - it would be cramped and there is really only sleeping for 3. It was perfect for our family of 3. The second bathroom was perfect as my daughter had her own bathroom separate from my husband and myself. Our daughter slept on the futon in the living room - the futon mattress is very very soft and not super comfortable, but it worked for her for a few nights. There are a few beach items available but I would recommend bringing your own snorkel gear. The time of year we stayed provided calm water and great snorkeling including lots of honu! Haleiwa is a perfect relaxing spot to get away! You are far removed from the craziness of Waikiki. We will be back! Hopefully this unit is available!"

  • Nice Location

"We really loved Hale'iwa. This was a very good place to stay aside from the fact that there is no a/c...however, it's Hawaii and very few places for rent have it anyway. Very convenient to the beach."
