Recent Laie reviews

"We had an absolutely fantastic stay in this Laie Palms house. We rented it for two weeks and stayed on the second floor - the 3BR/2BA area. It was very clean and everything that was needed for a comfortable stay was there. The one thing we did not expect and that was not mentioned in any of the reviews was the wind. It was rather strong and every time that we climbed the stairs to the second floor we immediately felt it. But actually it was very nice and very refreshing especially when we were returning from the other beaches where it felt very hot. We started every morning with a walk along the people-free beach (well, sometimes you can see a person or two or even four on a weekend) and then swam in front of the house before the breakfast. The ocean was all ours, nobody else to share it with. Actually one can spend the whole day in front of the house just seating on the beach and swimming (it is possible to snorkel there two, but there were just a couple or two of different fish). The location of the house is really fantastic. First, it is right on the beach. Second - it is very close to a lot of excellent snorkeling places (Turtle bay, Shark cove and Three tables - are all perfect places for snorkeling. They are free and there are tons of different exotic fish. I even swam with a couple of turtles there). Third, it is very close to supermarkets (Foodland and Tamura's). Fourth, there are a lot of good places to eat if one does not want to cook and if one wants to cook fresh fish is available every Thursday opposite the Foodland in Waimea. Just a couple more things about the owner. Janet was very accommodating while we were arranging our stay with different people coming at different time. And when at the end of the stay there was an issue with a power interruption she helped to handle it in an extremely gracious way. Janet, thank you very much for your house and for everything else! it was a great stay and we unquestionably recommend the place to everyone who wants to have a great vacation on Oahu."

  • Our private paradise!

"The view was indescribable!!! We were literally within 20 steps of the beach. The house was small and cozy but we weren't looking for a large, hotel style suite. The bedroom was very clean and well set up. The shower was large and towels were available for use so we didn't have to over pack for the flight. Beach equipment is available for use, which we definitely tried out!!!! Sea turtles graced us with their water dancing one afternoon right off of our private beach. The owner of the property was an absolute sweetheart. She made sure we had an amazing trip! I would (and have) recommended her home as a place to stay!!! We will definitely be traveling back and staying at the same place!"

  • 8 day girl's get away

"After a few glitches with batteries for the lights and fans, light switch in the laundry room and a beeping smoke alarm all night - we had a great stay. (I understand this home has a new manager but it seemed some maintenance issues had been put off). Things to consider are seating on the porch overlooking the ocean. The view is to die for but they have two picnic tables that are basically unusable. If they would simply buy some patio chairs, the trip would have been about 500x better. We wanted to sit outside and I didn't feel comfortable taking inside furniture outside so we couldn't spend as much time outside as we wanted. We had beach chairs that some of my friends tried to sit on but that was too low and they couldn't see over the tree line. Anyway. The house is beautiful, practical and roomy. There were some small issues with the batters for things (like the house hadn't been rented in awhile), but seriously - gorgeous view. Shopping across the street. All types of beaches right there. Convenient like nobody's business. I'm holding my ground with the fact that they need to invest in patio furniture though. I noticed the rentals around us all had some. Doesn't have to be super fancy, just usable. And it also came with no beach fun stuff like boogie boards, snorkeling gear or kayaks. $500 should do the trick and all you have to do it check them in after check out and they will always be returned."

  • Great relaxing week.

"Had a really nice stay in a place that suited us perfectly. The road is a bit noisy but it soon wasnt noticed too much, all was forgiven for the great Lanai complete with Gas Barbecue and steamers to relax on after a hard day at the beach or sightseeing. The location is superb with a lovely beach so close (had it to ourselves most of the week) and a great part of the island to stay in, far nicer than Waikiki. Supermarket and drug store are very close and reasonably priced. The stock of beach equipment in the rental is great , boogie boards chairs umbrellas and more if you needed it and while you cannot see the beach from the rental it is only 100 yards away."
