"I have to agree with the other reviewers, that the pictures do not do justice to this beautiful house. The house is spacious and more than enough room for our family of five. The kitchen is well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. The bedrooms are all lovely and each has an ocean view and its own ensuite bathroom. I can't say enough about this house. It is private and quiet. The only noise we heard were the night birds. The kids loved playing in the large yard, and the beach is steps away. During the week we pretty much had the beach all to ourselves. One day we had to share it with a large sleeping monk seal. Nancy and Ohana were very pleasant and helpful. They gave us lots of tips for things to do around the area, but, truth be told, we didn't want to leave this beautiful house very much. If we come back to Oahu, I can't imagine that we would want to stay anywhere else."

"We're just finishing up a month's stay in this incredible island paradise. The location is amazing, there is a 5 mile beach for walking and all water sports and it's mostly deserted. Monk seals and turtles often sighted. The famous Pipeline surfing areas are 30 min away and offer great spectator sports! Small family run restaurants nearby are fantastic and the lack of crowds is priceless. Huge covered deck with two person loungers, we lived out there! Three generations visited during our month and all found it captivating. The house is VERY comfortable with three nice bedrooms (2 ocean front!), three bathrooms and two tubs/showers. Plus large common area for games, visiting and eating. Perfect for family or couple groups. We will be back!"

"We stayed here recently for 3 nights with our adult children and their 2 teenage girls! It is in a beautiful location and the boogie boards got plenty of use! There were so few people around, it made it all the more pleasant. We found the house to be very comfortable and roomy with great cross-breezes. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds (at least the master) very comfortable. It is very convenient to Kahuku town and Laie and close enough to Waimea Bay, Pupukea, and Haleiwa. We really enjoyed our time here"

The property manager was very helpful.
The vacation rental was clean.
I was very happy with the location.
I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Maleakahana bay, but there some downsides. First the good: the location is amazing and the beach is fabulous. The sand is soft and we were able to swim in the ocean daily without hurting our feet. The yard and views were perfect, we spent hours in the hammock and lounge chairs. The kitchens had plenty of cutlery and dishes and living areas were clean. Since the house is down a dirt road we felt very safe, we had no security concerns. Now, the bad. The house has no AC and our week was very warm and humid so we spent the whole trip sweating. Lots. Also there were lots of bugs (Hawaii is a jungle after all) inside and outside of the house. We noticed holes in screens where mosquitoes were getting in even when the screens were closed. Towards the end of the trip we found a 5 inch long dead centipede in the kitchen which was fun. At least it was dead, so there were repellents in place. The entry way has grass growing inside and there are some general maintenance issues (holes in screens, living room fan is half broken, etc.). Overall the place could have used a wipe down (or scrub) but we expected that as it's hard to keep a house that's not sealed up clean. If the weather had been cooler/drier or if the mosquitoes didn't get inside we would have recommended this property. Based on our experience I wouldn't return; next time we'll pick a house with AC."
