  • Awesome beach and a great location

"We had a great time. Here are pros and cons: Pros: 1. Location. While many beaches were treacherous, for example Sunset beach, this beach was perfect for kids. The sand slopes gently so the waves are big, but not scary. We spent hours boogie boarding and we could wade out a long way to catch waves. I felt comfortable letting my 7-yr old kids do it, but we all had life jackets from the house, for warmth and safety. The beach is very secluded so we felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. The house is back away from the road and is surrounded by foliage so it is very private. The house is very close to the beach. A lot of attractions, like the Polynesian Cultural Center are close by. 2. Beach toys. The house comes with many beach toys, including boogie boards, buckets, shovels, beach chairs, life jackets, snorkeling gear, and more. This really added to the experience. There was also a portable fire pit so we took it to the beach for a campfire at the beach. 3. Yard and porch. The porch and yard are great for a BBQ or just enjoying the sunrise. 4. The owner. Herb was very helpful and made sure we had what we needed and he provided great suggestions for activities. 5. Outdoor shower. Great for washing off sand. Cons 1. Condition of the house: it is a little run down and could use a makeover. There are quite a few things that are quite weathered. The hot water for the shower takes 5 minutes to heat up and never gets warm enough to turn on the cold water. The house has everything you would need, but needs to be updated. However, this probably factors into the price being fairly reasonable for rent for a house right on the beach. This is the only thing preventing me from giving it five stars."

  • Stunning location, wonderful house!!

"We're just finishing up a month's stay in this incredible island paradise. The location is amazing, there is a 5 mile beach for walking and all water sports and it's mostly deserted. Monk seals and turtles often sighted. The famous Pipeline surfing areas are 30 min away and offer great spectator sports! Small family run restaurants nearby are fantastic and the lack of crowds is priceless. Huge covered deck with two person loungers, we lived out there! Three generations visited during our month and all found it captivating. The house is VERY comfortable with three nice bedrooms (2 ocean front!), three bathrooms and two tubs/showers. Plus large common area for games, visiting and eating. Perfect for family or couple groups. We will be back!"

  • Great place to stay!

"Thank you, Geri and Ke'Alii, for a wonderful stay at your rental property. We really enjoyed meeting you. Thanks for your friendliness and all of your help! Having the 4 bedroom house, 1 bedroom house, and one studio, provided sufficient space for all 17 of us! Nearby grocery and drug stores made it easy to pick up food for the day and whatever else we needed. We really enjoyed being able to sit out on the lanai in the evenings, just to relax or play games. The beach was one of our favorite spots in Hawaii. The water was usually great for boogie boarding, and the kids loved playing in the sand. Checking out the tide pools was also a popular activity. One evening, at low tide, one of our granddaughters found an octopus in one of the tide pools!"

  • Family vacation

"We recently stayed at this home, and loved it. The house is a little run down, and we did run into a lizard, some ants, and a cockroach in the house. However if you can tolerate these things the stay was exceptional. The location can't be beat. The beach is literally in the back yard, and it was an amazing beach. We were frequently the only ones on the whole beach. There are a few rocks in the water directly behind the house, but if you go one house to the left when facing the beach there were no rocks. We did a lot of boogie boarding and had a great time. We visited several other beaches on the island, and always found that we liked ours the best. We did stop by Costco and purchased 2 new boogie boards, a nice beach umbrella, and 2 nice beach chairs that we left at the house (it was cheaper than renting them for a week, and now hopefully others will enjoy them as well). There were also some sand toys and a few older boogie boards so don't worry about bringing your own beach stuff. We ate in fairly frequently, and it was very nice to have a rice cooker in the house. The beds were overall comfortable, and in general it was a great stay."
