  • Amazing property, perfect location

"This property was perfect for four adults wanting to stay away from the busy Honolulu area. We loved the amazing yard and the cute dog, Ruby! It is close to the airfield (so my husband could skydive), close to Haleiwa (our favorite North Shore town) and close to the beach! It is a 5 minute walk to the beach from the property. We loved the quiet neighborhood as well! The owners were great to work with and were available if we had any questions or needed anything. The house was clean and well maintained with clean bedding and extra pillows. Loved that the kitchen was fully stocked so we could buy our own food. I also loved that we could use the beach towels and boogie boards during the duration of our stay. We loved spending our time in the North Shore, going to Waimea Bay, Waimea Valley and falls, going snorkeling and eating at the delicious bakery Waialua Bakery in Haleiwa (just down the street from Matsumoto's Shave Ice). I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family, or anyone that wants to stay in a quiet neighborhood, close to the beach in North Shore!"

  • Relaxing house with large rooms RIGHT on the BEACH!

"We've been to Oahu more times that we can count, but always stayed in a condo in Waikiki except a Kailua rental 3 blocks from the beach once. THIS was a different Oahu from what we 'knew.' There are no truck noises, sirens, yelling, honking, ...noise pollution of any kind. We woke to the sounds of the ocean and a few birds. We went to sleep to the sound of the ocean. I thought being that close to the ocean, the sound might be overwhelming, but it was not. It was just a calming, soothing pulse. The rooms are very large in this house! Upstairs is LARGE! 2 bedrooms with their own baths and plenty of room for storing luggage out of the way. Downstairs has one very large bedroom with it's own bath and one fairly large bedroom with a bathroom in the hall. The only downfall we saw to the house was the double bed in the smaller downstairs bedroom. If we stayed here again, we might see if the owners wouldn't mind if we bought a queen bed for that room. :-) There were plenty of linens for all the beds and bathrooms. Plenty of beach towels, too! The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils and the fridge was brand new! The living room furniture was not the most comfortable, but we spent most of the time outside. Plenty of masks, snorkels, and aqua shoes were found in the room next to the laundry room. Loved that there was a washer and dryer there. When I go again, I'll pack less. I took clothes for a month, but ended up doing laundry and wearing some of the outfits a couple of times... or just my swimsuits for days on end! The house is an older home, very comfortable and casual. We felt so at home rather than on 'vacation,' if you know what I mean. It was clean and had new carpeting, too. We saw turtles every day swimming out front...RIGHT out front!!! Our daughter and son-in-law snorkeled everyday and saw turtles and MANY kinds of fish, crabs, and one night we even saw a small purple octopus! At night, they saw turtles ON THE BEACH a few houses down the beach. We never saw any on shore during the day, but they sure did swim around in the protected area out front! Our niece and her husband and 2 kids aged 2 and 5 played on the beach when they weren't out sight seeing around the island. The beach isn't the widest beach to run and play on, but there is thick, soft sand all day...even if it's only 10 feet or so at times. In November, we had the beach to ourselves EVERY DAY. We plan on going was THAT good!"

  • Linda Z.

"My extended family of 10 people stayed here for 4 nights and we all loved it! I wish we could stay longer or come back again, since there are still activities we have not had time to enjoy. Skydive is just across the street from the house, kids still want to snorkel more, my 11 yr old daughter had her 1st surfing class and wanted to practice more, many unique beaches nearby etc. The owner provides plenty of supplies, utensils, beach playing equipment. We have never stayed in a place so close to the ocean, it is literally ON the beach. Thank you Rebecca for sharing this beautiful oceanfront house with us!"

  • March 2015 Retreat

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Couldn't be happier with my stay at the SDC during my vacation. Place is ideally situated and afforded unobstructed views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. Place was very tidy and spacious. Haliewa is nearby and although the nearest Foodland is a few miles away the views along the drive are well worth the distance. Hated to leave."
