  • Perfect Home away from Home!

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really enjoyed our stay at the Sand Dollar Beach Cottage! It was exactly as we envisioned and exactly as it was pictured on the website. The gated community is very safe and quiet - the only noise was the sound of the surf! If the cottage was any closer to the ocean you'd be in it. We had just a couple of issues after arriving which were quickly taken care after a phone call to Hawaii Beach Homes. Everything in the cottage was in working condition - the kitchen and bathroom could use some TLC but were well equipped with whatever you may need. It was very clean upon check in. The queen bed was super comfy! Watching the 30 to 40 foot waves at Bonzai and Sunset Beach were amazing! You can rent beach cruisers to ride the bike path from Shark's Cove up to Sunset Beach. Haleiwa is a really neat town to explore - lots of neat shops and markets. Waimea valley is beautiful and the hike to the falls was perfect. Dillingham airfield is close to the cottage for sky-diving. It was a 100% change of pace from Waikiki - I wish we had stayed at the cottage the whole vacation and skipped Waikiki altogether!"

  • Staying here is its own unique experience

"Our family of 10 (siblings, kids, grandpa) chose to stay here for what seems like a trivial reason now: It had its own pool, which hardly any other houses for rent on the North Shore offer, and we wanted one for our littlest kids. The pool was indeed fun to hang out at and offered a nice respite from the beach (waves were unusually rough for summer), but the house has way more special qualities than that. The lush green setting is beautiful, with the ocean below and mountains above for constant scenery gazing. The papaya and starfish fruit trees were used for almost every meal. Our kids loved seeing the horses and cows on the ranch below and the wild pigs that frequently crossed the yard. I took a hike to the Kaena Point just up the road and loved that. Two in our party went skydiving at nearby Dillingham Airfield and raved about the experience, and each noticed how the house stood out in the landscape. We went back and forth to Haleiwa for assorted meals, supplies and shaved ice and never felt like it was a hassle (5-10 minutes). Our favorite beach for swimming was Waimea Bay (15-20 mins away), and we also loved hiking to the waterfall and strolling the gardens at Waimea Valley. Some of us were concerned about the lack of air-conditioning, and indeed the house was like an oven upon arrival. But once we opened up all the windows it was comfortable even in August. Why wouldn't you want the windows all open in such a beautiful natural setting? The beds were all comfortable, and we had everything we needed while there. We hope to return and use the house again in the not too distant future, not just for the things we didn't get around to doing during our stay but also to simply enjoy the house itself again."

  • Ideal Hawaiian getaway

"We have enjoyed this unit for the past few years and love the quiet, peaceful location. I love relaxing at the pool and watching the skydivers come floating back down to earth. We also enjoy watching the sunset from the sea wall. While it's 40 minutes from Honolulu, it's easy to plan a days outing if you want to shop and visit sites on the other side of the island. We enjoy watching the Banzai Pipeline surfing at Sunset Beach and visiting the shrimp and food trucks on the North Shore. The historic town of Haleiwia is just down the road and Waimaie Falls is not much farther. The unit is very comfortable for two and will accommodate more if needed. Everything you need is available, just bring your bathing suit!"

"I rented this home when family found out we were going to Hawaii and wanted to join us! It was 6 houses down from the other one I rented. On our last night I asked everyone what they thought about the house they were staying in so I could write a review - expecting some complaining I was shocked that they had not one complaint!!! I had been to the house multiple times and thought it was amazing but Im easier to please than my brother:) They simply raved - the kitchen was amazingly equipped - the house was perfect for 6 - the yard overlooking the ocean was AMAZING - the lg covered patio was used to plan our days and the teacher in the group graded papers there for hours - All the toys surfboards - kayaks - bikes got used and were PERFECT - the hammock saw its share of use - best of all the sitting area overlooking the beach had many books read and photos taken from! Roy was great to work with from start to finish. The sink was slow draining which he told us about before so it was not an issue - im sure he fixed it after we left. WE WILL BE RENTING THIS HOME AGAIN! **** For those of you used to California beaches the water has a lot of rocks so bring water shoes and you will need to watch your kids close - but the temp of the water is amazing and we spent hours in it! OH YEAH this house is out of the main tourist area - we loved it! It was quiet and peaceful and if we wanted to go anywhere it was just a short drive and you were in the hustle and bustle. CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW AMAZING THE HOME WAS!"
