  • Quiet, comfortable and great beach

"We were surprised at the size of this place, and a huge yard. It was clean, quiet and very comfortable for my wife, me and our 8yo daughter. We fell asleep with the ocean breeze and sound of waves every night. It is far from the craziness of the North Shore traffic and crowds. The walk to the beach was longer than expected because of private property in the neighborhood, but it is pleasant walk, and we always had full stretches of beach to ourselves. We went to the beach every morning, then other island excursions later in the day."

  • What a jewel - this home is like a hidden treasure!

"Our family stayed here as a celebration to our son's graduation from high school. There was a slight blip with another home that almost derailed our vacation, But Marion offered her home and actually worked out better for our family. The home is located in a beautiful area of the north shore, about 3 minutes walking from one of the best beaches on Oahu. The only thing in abundance was the sea turtles and the amazing wildlife in the coral reefs. This beach is protected by a very wide coral reef which allows safety of worrying about larger marine life. To top it off, the owners are amazing, and we are already missing Ruby! (their golden retriever) Thank you so much Marion and we will be back next year!"

  • Wonderful experience and hospitality

"WOW!!! Is all I can say in regards to this house and the wonderful help and hospitality by Michalene (the house manager). We had a situation with another VRBO 4 houses down that had sink holes in the yard and he cancelled on us 3 days before we got to Hawaii. I directly called Michalene and she was very understanding and willing to help us rent the house since We were scrambling. I can't thank her enough! The house is awesome!! The ocean waves crashing right against the wall all night with big open windows and doors with the Hawaiian air blowing through, leaves for a true Hawaiian experience. It was hot at times but hey it's Hawaii that's what you expect. We also almost endured our first hurricane but only had tropical storm type rain and waves which kept us in the house that whole day but it's very accommodating and we felt at home as we cooked and played games and watched movies (which there is a wide selection of). You are far enough out of town but close enough at the same time. The beaches just down the road are nice and we didn't see but 2 people in 2 days. We fell in love with the north shore and this house puts you right at the spot to do the same. Thank you Michalene for everything and we will be back!"

  • Staying here is its own unique experience

"Our family of 10 (siblings, kids, grandpa) chose to stay here for what seems like a trivial reason now: It had its own pool, which hardly any other houses for rent on the North Shore offer, and we wanted one for our littlest kids. The pool was indeed fun to hang out at and offered a nice respite from the beach (waves were unusually rough for summer), but the house has way more special qualities than that. The lush green setting is beautiful, with the ocean below and mountains above for constant scenery gazing. The papaya and starfish fruit trees were used for almost every meal. Our kids loved seeing the horses and cows on the ranch below and the wild pigs that frequently crossed the yard. I took a hike to the Kaena Point just up the road and loved that. Two in our party went skydiving at nearby Dillingham Airfield and raved about the experience, and each noticed how the house stood out in the landscape. We went back and forth to Haleiwa for assorted meals, supplies and shaved ice and never felt like it was a hassle (5-10 minutes). Our favorite beach for swimming was Waimea Bay (15-20 mins away), and we also loved hiking to the waterfall and strolling the gardens at Waimea Valley. Some of us were concerned about the lack of air-conditioning, and indeed the house was like an oven upon arrival. But once we opened up all the windows it was comfortable even in August. Why wouldn't you want the windows all open in such a beautiful natural setting? The beds were all comfortable, and we had everything we needed while there. We hope to return and use the house again in the not too distant future, not just for the things we didn't get around to doing during our stay but also to simply enjoy the house itself again."
