This is the "Real Hawaii"
"What a wonderful vacation! We stayed 10 days at Sunsetyards and no one wanted to leave. The house is spacious and sparkling clean, with all the amenities (bikes, beach chairs, boogie boards) a family of five could want. We were steps from a great, uncrowded beach, and just a few minutes drive to Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, Sharks Cove, PCC, and Haleiwa Town. And we could get to Honolulu or Kailua in an absolutely beautiful 30-45 minute drive. The owners were so welcoming and friendly--we never wanted for anything. I will admit I was a bit apprehensive when my husband (who went to high school in Wahiawa) said "let's stay on the North Shore -- that's the real Hawaii," but he was absolutely right. Our kids got to see what Oahu is like without the tourist traps, overpriced attractions, and crowded beaches. Mahalo for a wonderful vacation. We'll be back soon!"

"We had a great experience. The house and property were as described. There was a bag of coffee and some sweet treats waiting for us upon arrival. This was a nice touch. We enjoyed the front and back sitting areas. The surf is just steps away. There we enjoyed the sun, swimming and beautiful sunsets. I hope to stay again."

Magical Foothill Retreat Home Overlooking Oahu's North Shore
"Our stay in the suite at Hale Luana in late April was breathtakingly beautiful. Open vistas of the ocean, beautifully landscaped grounds, pool, and jacuzzi made us feel so lucky to have found this perfect place.
The kitchen had more than we could have imagined with almost all of the basics provided such as spices, and condiments. Soft sheets, unlimited towels, quality shampoo, soap, and conditioner added to the luxurious feel of the accommodations.
Louise, the property manager, lives above and is readily available yet very respectful when using the central staircase to access her quarters. When some unexpected construction repairs needed to be done on the studio below our unit, Louise really did a fantastic job of working around our schedule as well as compensating us for the slight disturbance. When other family members had major problems with their rental elsewhere, we saw how fortunate we were to have Louise's professional, compassionate dedication to making our experience so positive.
The short drive up to Hale Luana through automated gates gave a nice sense of security with a rest away from the noise of the surf, cars, and people at the beach. We could enjoy the sand and sun but escape to our tropical paradise and lounge by the pool or in the jacuzzi when the day was done or just for an afternoon nap before going out for dinner.
If you are looking for a gorgeous view and relaxing beauty, with a caretaker who knows the importance of good service, this is the place to stay!"

"The property was the perfect size for our family of 4, reasonably priced and in a good location, with easy access to surf beaches. The beach bikes were used every day for surf checks, whilst the outdoor shower was a bonus for post surf wash offs. The 2 bedrooms were very roomy and the full size kitchen was a great for cooking home meals. We hadn't been back to the North Shore for 20 years and it was refreshing to see that not much has changed. Its a very laid back community, with the coast line remaining raw and unspoilt. A big congrats to the local community for fighting to keep it that way. We had a fantastic 2 weeks at this property and will be back. Thank you, Lisa"
