  • In this location you literally have it all!

"We've stayed on the North Shore several times because we enjoy the quiet surfing town vibe vs. the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Haleiwa is our favorite place to shop and dine so being just a short drive away was great. The Hibiscus House is located in one of the most beautiful stretches of beachfront on the whole island. Being there in early May, we enjoyed a variance between an unbelievably giant surf where we had a front row seat for some amazing local talent on the waves, and later in the week smaller waves gentle enough for our 8-year old to boogie board. The house itself was very clean and stayed cool without air conditioning the entire 9 days (thanks to the ceiling fans). The beds are really comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. Our favorite part was the lanai and the incredible views right off of the back yard. The gates keep the property very secure and with the limited public beach access we never had to deal with crowds, even on the weekends. The rocky terrain off to the left of the house was great for exploring tide pools and our kids had a ball hopping around them all week. The grassy area was also perfect for our kids to romp and play in when they got tired of being sandy. One of the greatest things about this rental is ALL the equipment they provide. We really enjoyed the comfortable beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel equipment, boogie boards, sand toys, kiddie pool, etc. We also used the bikes a few times and took advantage of the wonderful path up the shoreline to visit the famous Ted’s Bakery – best coconut cake ever! Things we wished we had were… *More comfortable furniture – the dining room chairs are almost unbearable to sit in. *A coffee bean grinder. *A bigger cooler for extra drinks. *More beach towels – there are 6 so we just did laundry each night. **More days to stay at this house!! Overall, the Hibiscus House provides you with a nice, clean place to stay with gorgeous sunset views, private beach access, biking & walking paths along the amazing coastline, a grocery store across the street for all your needs, rock climbing & exploring, and is 5 minutes away from the most wonderful town on earth for great shopping & dining. The booking process was easy and pleasant - we would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it."

"Our stay at the Island Retreat was fantastic. The review was very accurate and Debby and Derek were very helpful. The location is just perfect, being just a stones throw away from Three Tables beach. It was very relaxing and we have now fallen in love with the North Shore! The property was very clean and tidy and had everything you need. Haleiwa, Sharks Cove, Sunset Beach, Waimea Waterfall and just heading down to Three Tables beach to watch the sunset were our highlights. Really hope we can return in a couple of years so hope you can still allow children :). Thanks again Debby and Derek. Sarah, Rich, Ryder & Indy :)"

  • great beachfront location

"Overall, we were very pleased with the Ginger House, mainly because of its location on the water and easy access to groceries and food trucks (don't miss the Pupukea Grill across the street…). We are also excited to see whales breaching and playing just offshore - an unexpected treat. My family very much enjoyed the location but be aware that the beach is not particularly kid friendly - even though the surf was small while we were there the break was powerful enough that my kids (age 6 and 9) stayed away from the water. Nevertheless, there are multiple beaches within a short drive, and one within walking distance that is very protected and great for snorkeling. Also, the house provides all sorts of beach equipment, including boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Bikes are also a plus given the nice bike path that runs down to Waimea Bay and also further up the North Shore. Overall, the house was very clean and reasonably well equipped for cooking. One minor issue was the material used on the couch and chairs - some sort of plastic/fabric blend that was very uncomfortable and reminiscent of sitting on my grandmother's couch. Apparently there is enough traffic through the house to make this necessary. Finally, the people at Tropical Waters were great - very responsive to requests and professional. I would definitely consider staying with them again."

  • YES - we'd stay again!

"The property is within a half mile of Waimea Bay beach and with the parking there, really-an easy walk there. Convenient to North Shore activities and events. We were half a block off the Kamehameha Highway, so easy access all around. Donna, the on-site manager, was so accomodating and provided not only for our needs, but directions and information to help us enjoy the area even more. We mainlanders were thinking in terms of air conditioning, but found that the fans did a good job of keeping everything comfortable. The master bath tub was a huge tiled basin = heavenly soaks. We did hear the road the first day/night, but then didn't. This was definitely a do-again experience."
