  • A Wonderful Place

"A terrific experience in Hawaii, in large part due to the great accommodations. We had the pleasure of staying and Mark and Jane's Condo in December, 2014. The accommodations were excellent and the condo was well equipped. This included everything from the kitchen to beach towels, snorkels and flippers. The owners clearly spend time here and it shows. The building has a limited number of units and the walls are concrete. The result is very pleasant and peaceful Hawaiian experience. Mahalo The immaculate and quiet beach accessed from the condo is superb. We spend a terrific amount of time walking for miles, swimming with the turtles (not too close) and admiring the fish. We even had a Monk Seal rest upon the beach, which was a particular treat. Located in the North Shore of Oahu, this condo is minutes from town as well as from terrific hikes and other attractions. We rented a car and they provided us with a parking stall as part of the rental. That helped a great deal as we were then able to explore the island as well. We highly recommend this condo and are grateful to the hosts for sharing it with us."

  • We never wanted to leave!!!

"My family recently stayed in this awesome home. It was seriously the perfect rental and the hosts were so kind, accommodating, and freaking cool!! I seriously wanted to be their best friends!!! We appreciated their hospitality and loved exploring their property. Our family has deep roots on Oahu. We've got multiple generations of cousins, aunties, uncles, and grandparents that have live on the island all their lives. For us, the North Shore is home. Forget Waikiki and going in to town. The country is where it's at!!! Literally across the street from some of the gnarliest surf in the world. And minutes in either direction to other famous spots. We loved cruising to the beach to watch the pros and comb the sand for shells and coral. On more adventurous days, we'd head down to Shark's Cove for snorkeling or Castles to spot sea turtles and seals. Of course, we began each day with a trip to Ted's Bakery for coffee, Portuguese sausage, and malasadas. Don't forget the chocolate haupia pie!!! For 'ono kine ahi poke, Foodland is 5 minutes down the road. The rental itself was perfect. It had everything we needed and fit our large group perfectly. Ocean breezes flowed freely through the open and airy home, keeping us cool and comfortable around the clock. The fully stocked kitchen came equipped with all the tools we needed to mix poi, steam manapua, and keep mochi fresh. Our favorite feature was probably the outdoor shower. We used it every day. It's located on the lanai right next to the skate ramps. (Skate ramps!!! I told you our hosts were rad!) And my two young daughters loved jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the swing set, and climbing on the playhouse. The massive yard and lush garden is fully enclosed. We felt safe and secure; had no reservations if our daughters wanted to play outside by themselves. We had such a wonderful time, we were all so sad to leave. We'll be planning another trip to Hawaii very soon and this rental is definitely where we'll be staying. Thank you, thank you for such an awesome stay!!!! The Schoenrock/Requilman Ohana"

  • Last minute getaway

"My wife and myself decided to get out of the cold in Alaska and go to Hawaii. We found this property and fortunately it was available. The house is what you see in the pics. Gorgeous with a view second to none. Rebecca was an incredible host and would definitely come back again. The beds were very comfortable, the yard with the view is amazing. I highly recommend staying at this property!!! Mahalo Rebecca"

  • Stunning location, wonderful house!!

"We're just finishing up a month's stay in this incredible island paradise. The location is amazing, there is a 5 mile beach for walking and all water sports and it's mostly deserted. Monk seals and turtles often sighted. The famous Pipeline surfing areas are 30 min away and offer great spectator sports! Small family run restaurants nearby are fantastic and the lack of crowds is priceless. Huge covered deck with two person loungers, we lived out there! Three generations visited during our month and all found it captivating. The house is VERY comfortable with three nice bedrooms (2 ocean front!), three bathrooms and two tubs/showers. Plus large common area for games, visiting and eating. Perfect for family or couple groups. We will be back!"

North Shore Oahu Travel Tips

Oahu's North Shore has been attracting visitors for years due to its beautiful beaches and panoramic views. The area that makes up the North Shore is between Ka'ena Point and Kahuku Point and is located 28 miles from Waikiki.

The weather in Oahu is warm so be sure to pack your summer clothes no matter what season you're visiting. Since it'll be cool in the evenings, you may want to consider bringing along a sweater or light jacket. The average temperature in Oahu is between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit when the summer air is warmer and drier. Although it cools down between December and March, the trade winds keep the temperatures comfortable throughout the year.

North Shore Attractions

The area is best known for its massive waves and surfers from all over the world flock there to test them out. If you want to find the best surfing spots on the North Shore, be sure to visit Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach. However, the most notable surfing spot is Ehukai Beach, also known as Banzai Pipeline. Annual surfing competitions are held at the North Shore including the Reef Hawaiian Pro, the O'Neill World Cup of Surfing and the Billabong Pipeline Masters. These three competitions make up the Triple Crown of Surfing. Even if you've never been surfing, there are several surf schools on the North Shore that can help you get acquainted with a long board.

If you visit Oahu's North Shore during the summer months, you can expect to see calm waters that are perfect for snorkeling, diving and swimming. The water is crystal clear and the beaches are among the most beautiful in the world, so spending a lot of time here during your trip is a must.

You'll want to check out Waimea Valley where there's a world class botanical garden at Waimea Falls. You can also visit ancient Hawaiian cultural sites and learn more about the islands. Waimea Valley offers a North Shore Eco Tour and the Hawaiian Hiking Company will take you off the beaten path on a privately guided hike through the Hawaiian rainforest. If you want to get a bird's eye view of the North Shore, take skydiving and glider rides at Dillingham Airfield.

Keana Point State Recreation Area features rare native plants and the opportunity to spot sunbathing seals. Although there is no shade or fresh water, the point is still a sight to see as there are picturesque views and the chance to see humpback whales spouting and breaching from November through March. Bringing along a camera to Keana Point State Recreation Area is a must due to the incredible views and wildlife.

Things to Do in North Shore

Haleiwa: Shopping and dining are just some of the many things you can enjoy in the town of Haleiwa. Women's clothing stores include Silver Moon Emporium, Island X Hawaii, Patagonia and Growing Keiki. There are also a number of surf shops including North Shore Boardriders Club, Tropical Rush and Strong Current where you can pick up your gear as you get ready for surfing lessons. If you want to grab a bite to eat in Haleiwa, be sure to stop by Opal Thai. This food truck is one of the best in town and offers a unique dining experience. You'll find what some may argue is the best shrimp on Oahu at Macky's Kahuku Sweet Shrimp Truck. Don't fight off the urge to sink your teeth into a delicious cupcake. Waialua Bakery offers delectable desserts as well as healthy sandwiches.

Mokuleia Beach Park: While in the North Shore, don't forget to check out Mokuleia Beach Park, the filming location for the popular television show "Lost." The park is located on a remote part of the island's northwest point and is 10 miles from the nearest store. This isolated area looks like a deserted island, and is surrounded by turquoise water and powder white sand. Expect to encounter sea turtles and other marine life. You can spend a whole day without seeing another individual at this picture-perfect secret find.

Puu O'Mahuka Heiau: This viewpoint and religious site offers panoramic views from a bluff located high over Waimea Bay. Puu O'Mahuka Heiau is on the National Register of Historic Places and was once the site of human sacrifices. The land of Puu O'Mahuka Heiau covers 2 acres and historians believe it may have been constructed as early as the 1600s. Today, there is a path that leads you to Heiau and the stone walls that outline it.
