Outstanding, but a few small improvements would make it spectacular!
"Just returning from a fantastic week in Hawaii staying at the Banyan Tree Beach House. We were a group of 10 and there were so many wonderful aspects of this property - but a few things really ought to be fixed and were unexpected for a rental in this price range. The home was truly a study in contrasts: the space was huge and easily accommodated our group. You are right on the beach with a beautiful view and located between two malls you can walk to that have everything you will need (restaurants, movie theater, food store, drug store, Costco, etc.). Also, great mountain hiking in the area. The large deck was great for hanging out, eating and playing cards or just enjoying a glass of wine. The master bedroom suite is spectacular (but the shower handle fell off in the shower). The artwork, cabinets and many of the pieces of furniture were extraordinary (but some of the floors needed refinishing and the doors need to be replaced). The kitchen is fully appointed with every kind of gorgeous serving bowl and platter you can imagine (but the dishwasher wasn't mounted properly and there was an ant infestation). And cockroaches were everywhere and the house really needs to be fumigated. You are right on a busy road, which is ok, but the entry gate was broken so you had to get in and out of the car to enter or leave the property (very inconvenient). The TV had cable, but there was no remote for the Sony DVD player, which was the only way to operate it, so we couldn't look at our home movies we brought. These are small complaints and you can see, I still rate the property a 5, its just that the owners really ought to expend the resources to properly fix these things. I hate to say anything negative - we had a great time, but this lovely home deserves to be kept up and it is time to make these repairs."

"This condo is amazing. The views from both balconies are superb and we spent many hours out there just staring at it all. The master bedroom is huge as is the living space. Everything we needed was supplied and all fittings. And furnishings were a high quality. This particular condo building is in a great location. Close to everything but not surrounded by everything. The large park next door gives you a feeling of space, as opposed to other hotels and condos in wakiki, where everything is squishy. We loved it!"

"This was our first vacation in Waikiki although we only stayed a short 4 days we found the people to be so welcoming and so clean, neat and tidy. They definately take pride in what they do. Both Chris and Steve met us at the airport with fresh leis and drove us to Waikiki Shore and made sure we were settled. Great location. Thanks for everything"

"My wife, daughter and I spent a week in Gary's place at the Royal Kuhio and it was a great base for us to explore Waikiki, Honolulu and beyond. It was out first time to use VRBO, our first time to Hawaii so we had a few "What if" and "How do we" worries; all of which were unfounded; Mahalo to Gary and the Kuhio staff that made everything easy as apple pie.
The Kuhio is on Kuhio Avenue which is one of the main bus routes across Honolulu. This means you can easily get around once you have a map of The Bus network. It is walking distance from everything in Waikiki.
The condo itself has everything you will need for a great stay; beach stuff, plentiful towels and bedding, great kitchen equipment and a fresh breeze off the mountain being on one of the upper floors.
So, if you are happy fixing your own breakfast and are happy using public transport to get around, based in a condo complex that shows a little sign of its age (there are newer blocks, thus 4 stars), this could be a great place for a holiday that will not break the bank!
If you want to rent a car (Alamo was 5 minutes walk and great), then it costs only around 15$ a night for parking and is easy to sort out in the office on the first floor. Really, there is nothing negative I can say about our entire experience. Thanks so much!"
