  • Beach Studio & 1 Bedroom

"I visited with my 13-year-old daughter for a week. My two concerns before we arrived were: 1) the beach studio would be too small and 2) the apartment would be too noisy being right by a busy road. The studio was a bit small but we were lucky that the people who had booked the 1-bedroom did not show up and so they let us move next door to the bigger space at no extra cost. Very nice! The noise turned out not to be a problem, but then I live in New York City! If you are used to quiet, you might be upset by the traffic noise in the morning. The ocean right outside the door can also be noisy. The view can't be beat. You are looking out at the ocean and the crater beyond. I enjoyed sitting on the porch and gazing out. It was gorgeous. The snorkeling right in front of the apartment is not very good and it is very shallow so swimming is not that great either. But the kayaking is great. And you can watch windsurfers out your door in the afternoon. I really enjoyed the location. We rented a car and drove all around the island. The owners offered a bunch of recommendations of restaurants and places to see along with the details about the apartment and I thought most of them were excellent. I really appreciated their inside knowledge. Island Brew is a great coffee house. The 1-bedroom was a little tough for an adult and nearly grown child. My daughter had to sleep on the pullout couch, which had an air mattress that deflated the first two nights we were there. We finally dragged in a twin mattress from the Beach Studio and she slept on that. The kitchen was nice but lacks an oven. You can barbecue right outside and there is a washer and dryer for laundry. The TV offerings were very limited and the Internet was extremely slow, if you care about that. There is no AC but we never needed to use the fans provided. There were nice breezes off the water. The queen bed was quite soft. Overall, I am not sure I would return with a teen. The place is better suited for a couple who can share the one bed. It would be great for a romantic getaway for a couple who want to see the island."

  • great stay

"We had an amazing stay at this house, the place is in a great location, the yard was beautiful with a wonderful view. The driveway was steep but they all are here. The hot tub had a few issues but this house couldn't have been any nicer. The owners did a great job making it feel like a perfect vacation home. Maholo"

  • Location, Location, Location!

"This fanatically family friendly, comfortable home is located in an excellent neighborhood with an easy 5-10 minute walk pharmacy, food and fun. It is a short hop onto Hwy 72 for travel to beaches and Honolulu attractions. Less then 1/2 hour to airport. It is not on the waster but right across the street from it. There are numerous alleyways to access the ocean from the street. Some accesses have little beaches and some are rock walls. It is all beautiful. The house is comfortable and very well stocked with essentials. The owners live on the property and are warm and welcoming. They were at the ready if we needed anything and never intrusive. The sparking blue pool was warm and refreshing. Big shallow end ideal for young swimmers and a good deep end for a good swim under water. Off street parking. It was perfect."

  • Great Location

"Lovely view of the ocean for a fraction of the price you would pay at the "beach front" condos. The condo is a short walk to the beach and a great starting point to walk to the park and zoo, or stroll along the canal. It's small, but has everything you need. Great value for the price."
