  • The Very Spirit of Aloha

"I recently had the pleasure of staying here with my family (old and new!) for a week in the Island Hideaway II. Everything was pristine, from the clean floors and kitchen, to the clean comfortable beds. The beach truly is less than a minute's walk away, you can see it clearly from your doorstep. The particular beach may not be the best for certain activities such as snorkeling and surfing due to lots of coral and low surf, but it is still a beautiful beach with fun swimming, the equipment they allow you to borrow can be put to great use nearby! A perfect beach to relax on with a drink and watch the sunset, and the hundreds of awesome sand crabs scurrying about during high tide especially! David and Ralena were the most welcoming of hosts, and truly made us feel a part of their Ohana. During our stay there were 2 hurricane/tropical storm warnings, during which Ralena brought us candles, flashlights, and batteries as well as making sure we were well-prepared. The storms fizzled out but the genuine concern was much appreciated! They also allowed my day's fantastic wedding to occur on the beachfront, even going as far as to build them an altar and for Ralena to do a special hula dance in their honor. This is not a resort, and is not an experience where you will have your hand held the entire way, nor should it be! This is a beautiful, serene retreat to enjoy the island as the locals do, with respect and admiration for the local wildlife and environment. Could not praise these hosts and/or this location enough, 100% satisfaction :)!"

  • Thrilled... Can't wait to go back!

"I could not have asked for a better house owned by a better family. They were always a text or phone call away to answer any questions that we had about the house or the part of town that were staying. The house was big enough to accommodate the 8 of us plus extra local family during dinner time. The back yard was big and comfortable and the washer and dryer were life savers. This house is close by plenty of stores and most importantly, close to the ocean."

  • A very nice place

"I was looking for a three bedroom to share with a diverse group of ages, ranging from 10 to 83, as my brother was retiring from the Navy at Pearl Harbor, and a group of us traveled to meet up to celebrate. The house was as nice as the pictures - very clean, very well taken care of - the beach is a short walk away, and was quiet each time we went, with beautiful views and gentle waves - the house was large enough that we all had our own space, and we made good use of the kitchen and the large porch. I'd only note that staying at Ewa Beach means you'll do plenty of driving - and dining options outside of fast food are few and far between - beyond that, the area is quiet and residential, there was a fine grocery a short drive away, and it worked perfectly for our particular needs."

  • A perfect hidden getaway

"First off our stay was great. The cottage is situated behind a gate at the end of the neighborhood and right up against the beach so if you leave the windows open you can hear the waves crashing on the sand. For us the location was perfect since we did not plan on going out to Waikiki at all. It is about 30 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes to Ko'olina. But you really don't have to even leave the cottage to enjoy the beach because it is right there and they have everything you will need. Snorkels, boards, BBQs and plenty of beach. The week we went the waves were pretty choppy so we didn't let our 3 y/o daughter go into the water but she seemed to enjoy playing on the sand or running into the surf most of the time. I don't know if the waves are like that all year round but families should be aware it can be a choppy. With that said, I saw local children swimming, body boarding and simply relaxing on tubes on the rough water. As for the place, it was charming. Plenty of ceiling fans to keep you cool with A/Cs in the bedrooms. We didn't use them because the fans were enough to keep us cool. The kitchen and living area had a very open floor plan so you can dine, cook and lounge around together. And if your family gets on your nerves you can walk outside and enjoy the beach. When outside the view is amazing. There are plenty of coconut trees that offer shade. One thing to know about the beach is that the cottage and adjacent property have a retaining wall (4-5 feet) to prevent erosion so you either need to climb down to the beach or hop over the side. What that does though is create a nice even beach for you and the family to enjoy. It was great trip and won't hesitate to stay here again. Thanks Pam!"
