  • Nice house, beautiful location, nice beaches, we had a great time

"My wife son (20) and daughter (17) spent 8 great days at the Makaha Beach House. Every day the house and location began to grow me more and more. The house is as the pictures, with the exception of the beach in front. In the winter you will see more rocks in front. The house is not a perfect 5 star luxury villa, but it is very nice and all the appliances work great. The view is beautiful! Waves crash right in front of the house. Showers work great, we never ran out of hot water. Washer & Dryer worked great. Kitchen is very nice, good stove, oven, toaster, and fridge. The Master Bathroom is huge with two shower heads, the living room is huge. There are two bedrooms, but the living room works well for a third bedroom, my daughter spent every night on the sofa bed. There is cable TV and excellent WiFi. The WiFi upload speed was 10-15MB, download was 1MB. This is three times the speed that I have at my home on the mainland. The previous renter mentioned an issue with ants, the grill and cleanliness. When we checked in, the house was clean, we did not see ants, and the grill has been replaced. We did have a few questions and an issue with the gate. We contacted Vicky and she had it taken care of. Vicky is very easy to work with. Suggestion: If you find something not to your liking, let Vicky know about it and I’m sure she will do her best to resolve the situation. Suggestions when you stay: 1: Take Surf lessons ASAP, so you can enjoy surfing the rest of your trip. We booked our lessons with Danny Boro Danny took great care of us, taught my entire family how to surf, and we used his boards for the next three days. Danny is very trusting and gave us a great deal on board rental. The lessons / equipment are at the Piliaau Army Rec Center. This is a great place to learn to surf. For more advanced surfers, you have Makaha Beach! 2: Rent or buy Snorkel gear. There is great snorkeling at Makaha Beach, you will probably use the Snorkel gear at any of the beaches. Also there are two boogyboards at the house, so you can use your fins with the boards. If you rent, rent local, this way when you return it, you don’t need to make an extra trip into Honolulu and deal with the traffic. 3. Stock up on groceries. Waianae is the closest town, it is about 3 miles to the South, they have large grocery store. 4. Traffic: Avoid Honolulu during rush hour!"

  • Family memories that will last a lifetime!

"This condo is exactly what I expected and more. Pam is an amazing owner who allows strangers like me and my family (wife, 1 year old, 9 year old) to enjoy what she calls her "little piece of paradise" and that's exactly what it was. At first I was a little hesitant only because I've never done a transaction like this but when I emailed Pam and asked to speak with her, she made this the most smoothest, easiest, comforting transaction I've done. She answered all my questions and really made me feel at ease knowing that I'm not dealing with just any regular renter. She was well organized and had all the details about proceeding with the transaction as clear as can be. Then to top it off, when I got to her condo, the view from the lanai (patio) was breathtaking. The amenities were exactly what she stated on the website and the pictures didn't do the condo justice. It really is a home away from home because Pam's condo has the pots, pans, plates, silverware, coffee maker, beach chairs, dvd players, iPod speakers, etc. that you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You definitely have to experience this condo for yourself. My family and I slept every night with the sliding door open listening to the waves crash. Then waking up in the morning with my cup of coffee, sitting on that lanai, and watching the, I just want to go back. The only downside is the drive to the condo but I knew that going into this. I wanted a location where I can take the kids to the "resorty" side of Hawaii but still enjoy the "beachy" side of Hawaii. To have the beach as my own "semi-private" beach was amazing. Since not too many tourists come to the Makaha side, the only people that are at this beach are those staying at the only 2 condos on this side of town (there is another high-rise condo next door). Overall, I would definitely recommend Pam and her lovely place to anyone and would definitely rent her place again as she is an amazing host. Thank you Pam for allowing my whole family to enjoy such a clean, well-kept, cozy condo that you have. Mahalo, Ronnie, Libby, Caitlin, and Kaden"

  • Perfect location for our Wedding

"We held our wedding at this home in the back yard in December, We could not have asked for a more perfect place for the wedding, the views were amazing, we got married under the palm trees by the bench and had the beach to our selves for the photo's afterwards. the home is larger than it looks in the pictures, there are 4 beds and additional beds if needed. relaxing on the patio with the large grass area was perfect, and the fire pit at night was so much fun! Carolyn has lounge chairs to take down to the beach with an umbrella stand already in the sand. plenty of snorkeling gear in the garage, masks, boogie boards, flippers, everything you need to enjoy the beach is at this house. We bought a cooler and kept it on the patio with cold drinks to keep close by at all times. Carolyn gave us the local insight to the area and where to find the perfect drinks over looking the ocean, and if you want to take a unbelievable hike along the coast line, go left out of the driveway and park where the road ends, there's a 3 hour hike the will simply take your breath away every step of the hike. Carolyn's home was perfect for our vacation. highly recommend this home for your next vacation."

  • 2 Relaxing Weeks on Oahu

"We stayed at Makaha Shores to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a great time and appreciated the kindness of our hosts: Richard and Celeste. The condo was clean and comfortable and exactly what we were looking for. The sound of the ocean was wonderful. We came for relaxing, snorkeling and sightseeing. The first week we did not rent a car and stayed around the condo, saving the sightseeing for the 2nd week. We cooked in most of the time, and found everything we needed. We found the locals to be very friendly and we enjoyed taking the bus to get into Waianae for groceries, little bits of shopping. Although Makaha Shores was perfect for what we wanted, there are a few things to note- if you are coming for snorkeling the waves November to February can be a bit much (we understand the surfing is great at these times, peaking in Jan and Feb). We understand the spring and summer months are calmer. We did fine but had a jacket and "noodle" to be more confident in the water. The snorkeling is wonderful but we had to be careful of the strong current. We would not discourage anyone from coming, just be prepared. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not go for night life but to relax. There is plenty of night life- but that requires a drive into Honolulu. Makaha Shores is very quiet. We had a great stay and would recommend this to friends!"
