  • Great place to stay in West Oahu

"We greatly enjoyed our stay at Carolyn and Joe's! The studio is emaculately clean and comfortable. Just down the stairs to a beautiful back yard, right on the water with million dollar views! Carloyn and Joe (and Shiela the cat) are excelent hosts always making sure we were enjoying our stay. Its obvious that they enjoy sharing their place with visitors. Makaha beach has great snorkling when the ocean is calm. When the surf kicks up, the back lawn is the perfect place to watch surfers shredding waves! Another reviewer mentioned roaches and ants...we did not have that experience. As stated, the unit was emaculately clean. Next time we are on Oahu, we will be back to visit Carolyn, Joe and Sheila."

  • Exceptional Vacation Getaway

"This property is absolutely beautiful with the most stunning views of the shore and ocean. We just spent a week here and loved it. There is everything available here that one would want in a home right on the beach. If there is something needed that is not available one only needs to ask and efforts are made to get it. One evening we decided to make soup and needed a large pot. We asked and the caretaker, Kelly, brought us a large pot. the owner's brother, Al, was very helpful and made several suggestions about what to see and where to go that were very useful. This property is a little away from the hustle and bustle of what we usually experience in Oahu, but we were looking for a laid back peaceful location with a private beach. It was perfect for us. There are also several beaches in the area that are very accessible and uncrowded. The snorkeling was great. We only had to walk across the lawn to the beach and we were there. The area just out in front of the house was populated with boatloads of other tourist snorkeling, but they had to get there by boat. :) We would definitely consider staying here again is we return to the area. Thanks Joe and Carolyn for a great vacation!"

  • The Perfect Base Camp over Canada/USA July holidays

"Away from the crowds of Waikiki and with easy access to other parts of the island this condo was the perfect 'base-camp' for all our activities. We are adventure seekers that love to explore & hike. But after a long day out traveling about, it's great to come back and cook our own meals and enjoy a quiet beach with only a few friendly locals for company. Everyday at sunrise from the balcony, we watched a family of turtles swim in the surf. Everyday hours before sunset we stayed in the ocean waiting for the green flash then headed to the pool for a final dip. Snorkeling is best along the left side where the turtles live. Waves pickup a little in the afternoon, but not as bad as some other places on the island. Plenty of snorkeling and beach gear in the condo - but we brought our own. There are a couple of boogie boards, chairs, umbrella, games, table-tennis, tennis rackets, and a ukulele! Kitchen is well stocked and very functional. The unit is smaller than what we are used to, but is perfect for a couple. The balcony is roomy and we had our meals there 50% of the time. Some construction was going on during our stay, so we just took off to relax at the beach downstairs. It also gets a little hot in the later afternoon (5-6:30) with the sun shining in on the condo. We used the AC when we first got there, but we soon acclimatized and only needed to have ocean breeze to keep us cool and content! Ko Olinda is about 20 minutes way (so is Costcos). It's nice to spend a day at the Ko Olinda Lagoons. You can go to the different hotels and get pampered during the day (along with the crowds) and then head back to the Condo for an evening swim. Travel to the Dole Plantation and North Point is also good, since you don't have to worry about driving in Waikiki traffic. Some good golf in the area, too (but we didn't go - as the beach outside the condo was too inviting each day!) FYI - You need a car. Also, if you are handicapped, getting into the water at the beach could be a little challenging, since there is a small steep area to get to the surf line (locals use that area as a toboggan run with their boogie boards!). Didn't go to any restaurants in the area (only at Ko Olinda). The Tamura market 2 miles down the street has everything you need grocery-wise, too. (Farmer's Mkt on Sat) Or simply stock up at Costco's on the way from the airport. All-in-all a great modest little place with great views, an excellent quiet beach, and friendly locals."

  • So much better than a hotel

"This was my first time staying at a vacation rental as opposed to going to a hotel. And I immediately regretted not doing it sooner. The property was wonderful, peaceful, and right on the beach. Jose was great and even jumped through a few hoops so we could occupy the same day we contacted him."
