  • Great Beach, decent place, decent location

"The best part of this place is that you walk out the sliding glass/screen door, walk across 20 feet of your grass and you're on the beach. It's a very quiet beach - surfing is just 400 yards north at Makaha Beach so most people hang out down there. There are no vendors etc pestering you on the beach either. The waves can be very mellow or up to 10 feet depending on winds and season. Water is clean. Beach sand is very good! There is very good snorkelling off the beach - there are a few boats that take tourists from the marina to a reef in the direct vicinity. The cottage is a cottage. There is wifi, a futon bed, a normal bed, fridge, indoor gas camp grill, outdoor bbq, microwave, small coffee maker and pots/pans/dishes. Lots of reading material and local music. Place includes its own bathroom and shower. The owner's sister and grown nephew live next door in the attached main house - but they are helpful and mind their business when not approached. There is a carport with room for one car. You'll need to rent a car as Makaha isn't close to much. This side of the island is the poorest area and reminds me of mexico a bit but feels safe enough and we were never bothered by anyone. You'll need to drive to any trendy foodfare, but there is a decent grocery store/liquor store/market/drug store within 10 minute drive and a couple local eateries which we didn't try out. The place is about an hour from Waikiki, 30 mins from the Disney resort at KoOlena. You CAN'T drive directly to the North shore along the northwest coast...there used to be a road there, but now there isn't. You have to go inland and up. It's only 25 minutes or so but we had visions of being closer which is why I'm including it in my review. If you want a beach that is basically your own private beach where you don't feel like you have to hide your cell phone in your beach, then this is the spot. We fell asleep listening to the sound of the waves but the road noise is also there to compete a little bit. There is a small patio just out the door that has some xmas lights for ambience where we would drink wine and listen to the waves. You can't REALLY see the beach from here due to the privacy hedge. We just moved the chairs 30 ft down to the beach if needed. There are towels, a couple of boogie boards, snorkels, beach toys etc supplied. Ice cube trays in the freezer."

  • 14 days of Heaven

"We have 4 kids, 2 boys , 2 girls and we brought my Parents on their first trip to Hawaii. Amazing location, Oahu can be busy and that might appeal to a lot of people, some prefer Maui for the slower pace, here you can enjoy the best of both worlds. Our Lagoon was a mini Maui, quiet uncrowded and personal. Disney is next door with the Marriott and full of Mickey and kids activities, my Daughters and wife went to the Disney spa for nail treatment. Great place for young kids with pools and jacuzzis to enjoy. We found time to go to Pearl Harbour and drive to North Shore but spent more time than we planned at the Condo and enjoyed the sunsets and friendly resort."

  • PARADISE AT KO OLINA

"This place was amazing. It was our family vacation 6 adults, 2 children, and we had so much space to enjoy our vacation. As soon as you arrive, the staff is so welcoming and pleasant. The property is absolutely beautiful and so well kept. The room has all the needs you can think of, especially the kitchen, I love to cook! And that beach closet has so many toys and stuff! We all are planning another visit, Thu is great to work with! If you are looking for a place to book, this is it! You always feel you have the whole property to yourself! No over crowded pools and screaming or shouting guests. Stay at Ko Olina Beach, work with Thu, she has other rooms available, you will not regret it!! Thanks to Thu and Louie! We can't wait to go back!!"

  • Peaceful contrast to Waikiki

"After staying in Waikiki for a few days, the Beach Villas was a welcome sanctuary from the crowds from the busy Waikiki area and all that comes with that. The Villa and actual views were even better than the VRBO photos. Owner is helpful and easy to deal with, being very responsive to our inquiry and questions. Deposit refund was prompt as promised."
