"Diana thank you so much. Other than being extremely hot when we arrived (but able to cool it down by bed time) we loved our stay. This is the way to vacation rather than hotels. I have vacationed this way several times now. It is nice to get up and have coffee, breakfast and not feel rushed. We had a busy weekend of baseball and fun but it was nice to come back to a comfortable place to relax at the end of the day. The quiet is wonderful."

"I cannot say enough about the peaceful and cozy atmosphere of Scharelant ! We went there for a "Sister's Getaway Weekend" and were truly blessed. Had planned many events for the course of our weekend...but ended up staying the whole time as this spacious studio. It had everything we needed, the kitchen was well stocked, every appliance that we could possibly wish for & more. Fresh flowers and cookies greeted us upon our arrival.
Relaxed by candlelight, enjoyed the panoramic lake view from every window. Lounged in the outside sitting area, enjoyed the sunset and ever changing scenery. Well maintained, clean & quiet. Our hostess, Lois, was absolutely wonderful, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived, until we had to leave. She had a passion for making our stay top priority, very gracious & kind hearted. She also gives an awesome massage....
Thank you Lois for helping to make this weekend, one that will remain in our hearts forever !
Overall, one of the most relaxing weekends, I have spent with my sister in the past 35 years.
It was a time for rejuvenation, reminiscing, reconnecting, relaxing and restoring relationships.
Would highly recommend this cozy retreat to anyone that is seeking peacefulness and restoration! Went away feeling re-energized and restored.
We will be back !!!"

"I ratify the other reviews. We were three couples who stayed a week and spent most of our active time riding our bikes on the fantastic Trail of the Coeur d'Alene. We also rented a boat from Mike and Patty for the day to tour the lake, which was good fun.
Mike and Patty are excellent local hosts who both grew up in the Harrison area. The house is very nice with a large 4 stall garage for all your toys and a good driveway. One of the two downstairs bedrooms is a bit small, but the three beds were all good. Everyone slept well and played hard. Both the upper and lower decks are great with nice views. If you are there in the hot months, bring an extra umbrella to supplement the one that is there for late afternoon when the sun is hard to shield (tie to railing) or simply move to the lower deck.
It is a steep gravel road down to the lake, communal dock, and paved bike trail. Most will probably choose to drive down and park unless you are on a mountain bike.
Many mornings we rode the bike trail to Plummer, a wonderful 28 mile round trip route along the lake and up through a delightful forested valley. A perfect and gorgeous workout to start the day. Go the other way up the river and you have another 30 lovely miles (one way) until the trail starts to parallel I-90. Wildlife abounds in both directions. Take a day and ride the super Hiawatha Trail at the divide.
Harrison is just a few miles away and is fun and quaint. It gets busy on weekends, but can be sleepy during the week."

"My family was looking for a lake front property to have a summer vacation, and Doug's place was perfect! This was our first time using VRBO and I have nothing bad to say. We loved the layout of the place and spent most of our time on the deck, it has such a beautiful view. The dock was perfect, we left our boat in the entire time we were there. My family could not get over how clear and warm the lake was. Doug was extremely helpful, from telling us where to get groceries, to where to launch our boat, and the hot spots to eat. The house was very clean, and well stocked. All in all it was a 10 out of 10!
