  • Comfortable and Convenient Cottage; Excellent Value

"This home has virtually everything you need for a fun Cd'A vacation. It's spotlessly clean, well appointed, and convenient to Sherman Ave., the lake, and great hiking. My wife and I rented this house in early July. We wanted to use it as a base camp to take advantage of the great bike and hiking trails in the general area. If you like biking, this is the place to be. The Centennial Trail, which goes all the way to Spokane, is a block away from the house. Two other trails, the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes and the Route of the Hiawatha are not far by car. We also went to Moscow, Idaho (a fun, laid-back college town around 85 miles away), and took another rail trail into Pullman, Washington. The hiking is also great. Tubbs Hill is right behind the house--we walked to the top at dawn every morning. Other, more challenging trails, such as the Caribou Trail, are not far by car. The house is separated from the lake by a beautiful and well maintained city park. Nearby are the shops on Sherman Ave. (we went to the Parkside Bakery for it's fresh bread virtually every day); there is a farmers market on Wednesday afternoons. The owner provided a number of conveniences--hotel type soap and shampoo in the bathroom, a hair drier, laundry and dish detergent. There is also a BBQ grill in the back yard and a very comfortable patio and garden. Great for breakfasts and dinners outdoors. My wife and I have rented houses around the world and this was one of the best in terms of comfort, convenience and value. BTW, one fun thing that's off the beaten track--prospecting for garnets. It's a bit of a drive but well worth it for the scenic ride and pure fun. Wallace, Idaho, is also fun for a side trip."

  • A charming, peaceful lake vacation - thanks to this little piece of cabin heaven

"If I could give a 6-star (or more!) rating, I absolutely would. Rustic elegance sums it up perfectly. The location is remote (22 miles off the 90 and located in Harrison, Idaho), so you truly feel like you are getting away- and in a very good way! This was one of my favorite family vacations ever, and I've gone on many. Well-maintained, beautiful home and grounds. Let's start with the panoramic views- from the deck, pebble beach, fireplace 'lounging' area, front lawn - it was breathtaking, especially the sunsets. This really is one of the best places on the lake, especially given Western exposure. By the way, the fireplace area was reminiscent of a high-end lodge hotel environment was a very pleasant surprise, as it wasn't even pictured in the listing! The inside of the cabin was amazing, the kitchen was the most well-stocked I've ever encountered in a rental and it has been recently remodeled. Nice tile, granite countertops, soft carpet. TV for those that need it with satellite. Plenty of space to lounge- liked the two bedrooms upstairs (A-frame style with rooms on either side both with a queen + twin), then two queen rooms downstairs. The owner, John, was amazingly helpful and answered all of my questions (I'll admit, I'm super Type A and do my research and he never lost patience on me at all, ha). We rented a boat for one day which is fun, as there is a slip - but, beware, boat rental is very expensive. There is an adorable canoe on property which we had fun with, great swimming beach. Harrison, ID is 6 miles away and a cute visit, you can rent bikes along the lake which I recommend. We didn't eat out much and instead toted most of our meals over. Mostly relaxed around cabin/outside and it was wonderful. It really is the best cabin ever- no joke! Thanks John, for your amazing hospitality."

  • Peaceful spot on squaw bay.

"We enjoyed the house and all the lake activities very much. Beach towels were provided. Coffee filters included. There's a little blow up raft and paddle on the beach area for use. Most importantly, we rented a boat for the week and used the boat lift. We weren't sure if it was functional, but a bad storm required that we find out. And it was in working order once you flop the one board upright. That was key but missing info in the description. We brought our own DVD's. Needed a cooler, needed a cookie sheet, needed to go coffee mugs. We ran out of paper towel early on. Other than that we had plenty of ice from the ice maker, grateful for the washer and dryer. We wished for a little privacy as the 2 bedrooms upstairs shared the ceiling with just walls to separate. Not no problem for traveling couple by themselves. Convenient drive comparing to all other properties South on Highway from here. Boat delivered to us from Harrison water adventures. Paddle boards too. Made it nice not to have to drive to get rentals. Wonderfully relaxing vacation! Nice accommodations. Thanks to owner and manager for great time."

  • I didn't want to leave! Absolutely beautiful prop

"This is a very large home that can comfortably accommodate 10 people with room to spare. The property was clean, well-maintained, with comfortable furnishings, and a functional kitchen and grill capable of producing meals to feed a hungry crowd. The home has a rustic feel to it, which is welcome and only adds to the vacation experience. The only thing that didn't function—as other commenters have noted—are the video games downstairs. But that didn't bother us one bit, as the private sandy beach and gorgeous views kept us captive the entire holiday weekend. I can't wait to return to this home and highly recommend it."
