"We visited for a family vacation. This was such a relaxing and enjoyable time for all ages. We played in the water and fished, went for beautiful bike rides, spent time in Yellowstone visiting many areas of the park. We were also close to Mesa falls and Harriman State park. One night we had a moose with two calves walk into the yard next to us, it was amazing. The cabin was more than I could expect and was very cozy. I would recommend this vacation rental to anyone wanting a fun relaxing getaway."

  • Family Christmas

"This was a great place to have our family Christmas getaway. The house was all lit up with Christmas lights - what a great first impression. "Cozy" was the word that everyone used to describe Grandma's Cabin. The cabin had plenty of sleeping space for all 10 of us. The kitchen was supplied very well with pots and pans, dishes, silverware, and bakeware. It was nice to have the washer and dryer there as well. The bathrooms were supplied well with plenty of towels. The internet connection was not good, but for me that was okay. It was nice to disconnect from it for a while. I would recommend Grandma's Cabin. Thank you!!"

Island Park Travel Tips

Island Park Vacation Rentals in a Small City with a Long Main Street

Located in eastern Idaho is the city of Island Park. Situated close to US Highway 20 and with Idaho Falls airport just 85 miles away, Island Park lodging is ideally placed for vacationers in this region. This small city claims to have the longest Main Street in the world at 33 miles. It is a perfect year-round vacation area, with hot summers and great snow in winter.

Island Park Cabins Are Perfect to Enjoy Many Outdoor Activities

Island Park vacation rentals are ideal for visiting a variety of attractions around the region. Henrys Lake State Park, just 15 miles from Yellowstone National Park, is a mountain area that fishermen will enjoy. Anglers can fish for brook and rainbow trout and cutthroat. Here, visitors can go snowmobiling, boating, hiking, biking and horseback riding. The park is also ideal for motorcycling and ATVs.

Local towns to explore around the area include the delightful one of Ashton in Idaho, Big Sky and Ennis in Montana and Jackson Hole in Wyoming. Also nearby is Harriman State Park where the historic buildings add to the wonderful natural environment for a great day out. The park is a 16,000-acre wildlife preservation area. Within the park is a working cattle ranch, the Railroad Ranch, which is open to visitors. Here, visitors can fish, take a guided horseback tour, and go hiking or biking through the sage meadow and pastureland. Wildlife lovers should watch for Trumpeter Swans-–the world’s largest bird, as well as sandhill cranes, moose, deer and elk.

Over Two Million Acres of Yellowstone National Park on Your Doorstep

The world-famous Yellowstone National Park is a must-see for any vacation in this area. Visitors will enjoy these 3,400 square miles of wilderness. That’s over two million acres to explore! Before visiting the vast expanse of Yellowstone, visitors are recommended to plan carefully to ensure they make the most of their time there. Many will want to follow the boardwalks out to see the mud pots, hot springs and geysers. Obviously, Old Faithful will be a must-see. Old Faithful erupts approximately every 80 minutes. And what a sight it is to see, when the steam and water burst into the air continually for around five minutes!

The perfect way to see Yellowstone is to take the Grand Loop, a 142-mile figure-eight road that runs through the middle of the park. There are a wide variety of hiking trails to choose from, each is easily completed within a day. Two of the most popular are Fairy Falls which is just five miles and close to Old Faithful, and Mystic Falls a more challenging two-mile trek. But leave time to view the incredible waterfalls and racing rivers around this park. Wildlife watching is another attraction here. Visitors are recommended to arrive early when the black and grizzly bear, moose and elk all come out to feed. Then there is the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, where the stunning colors combine with the waterfalls and rocks for a very beautiful area. A recent addition to Yellowstone’s many attractions is a new IMAX theater. This massive six-story high screen gives viewers the opportunity to see the immense park in all its glory from the comfort of an air conditioned environment.

While visiting here, there is a spectacular day trip to Quake Lake in southwest Montana. This lake was created when an earthquake struck the region in 1959. The quake devastated the area, collapsing highways and burying houses and trees beneath the now clear waters. Visitors here can fish for a variety of trout, go kayaking or whitewater rafting.
