  • Good Deal

"This had all the things one could want -- even on a second floor, 2 bdrm condo with a spiral staircase to the second bdrm on the third floor. There was easy access to River Run Lodge -- only a short walk across the parking lot -- allowing us to store our skis overnight at the base lodge for $4 per night and switch out of our ski boots for the walk over and back. The hot tub was at the foot of the stairs to our condo and worked very well. The two bedrooms were comfortable and the laundry was very useful. Further, all of the useful kitchen equipment was at hand and worked well. TV channel selection was poor, but we were in town to ski and have pleasant dinners in the evening, so not a big problem. All in all, nice place."

  • Tiny but Tasty in Ketchum, Idaho

"We had an excellent stay in this Ketchum, ID studio apartment. It had everything we could need for our vacation, including bath and face soap and a hair dryer. We highly recommend staying at Tiny but Tasty! Thank you!"

  • Exactly what was needed!

"Great condo, great owners. My wife and I really needed a nice weekend away and this place fit the bill. Nicely furnished, clean, comfortable bed, and at the end of the day, we loved hitting the hottub. We enjoyed walking in to town for dinner/drinks as needed, as well as biking around town/along the nearby trails and even fishing the Big Wood and (after a short drive) Silver Creek. We were even impressed by having some of the little things we didn't initially think about (like coffee and butter.)"

  • Perfect Ketchum Experience

"My wife and I stayed at Linda's house for a week over Christmas and we could not have been happier with our stay. First, the pictures do not do this listing justice as it is two stories and had plenty of room for ourselves, our Bernese Mountain Dog (Scout), and our 7 month old son with room to spare. As a skier, this place was the best of both as the Warm Springs Lifts are a 5 minute drive and there a free skier bus accessible at the top of the road. As a dog owner, the dog park (more like a field) is a two minute walk down the road and was a highlight of our mornings. Linda's place is a short hop/walk into Ketchum for those who want to eat out or look around the square. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Linda's hospitality and are planning our next trip back soon!"

Sun Valley Area Travel Tips

Sun Valley, Idaho for Fun in the Sun and Snow

Sun Valley, in Blaine County, Idaho, is known as the "Grand Dame" of ski resorts. The name Sun Valley is used to describe the resort itself and the region generally--the valley area south of Hailey and the city of Ketchum. To get to Sun Valley travel could not be easier. Just 2.5 hours drive through scenic vistas from the major airport at Boise, the area is also served by Friedman Memorial Airport which is less than 15 miles away. By road, the Sun Valley is easily accessible from Interstate 85 and State Highway 75 running through the region. Famous for its great ski conditions, the weather goes from the 20s Fahrenheit in winter to the high 60s Fahrenheit in summer.

Find the Perfect Snow in Sun Valley, Idaho

With over 250 days of sun per year, you may believe that it is not an ideal ski location but you would be wrong. The days may be glorious and sunny but the nights bring the snow and each morning, the snow conditions are fabulous. More advanced skiers head to Bald Mountain, affectionately known as "Baldy," for its challenging conditions. It has a variety of constant-pitch terrain of assorted difficulty levels, a 3,400-foot (1,036 m) vertical drop and little wind. Among serious skiers, Baldy is reputed to be the best mountain in the world. Beginners and intermediate skiers will find the treeless Dollar Mountain perfect for developing their skills and learning. With Sun Valley vacation rentals available close to both mountains, visitors will find the perfect property for their individual needs.

For winter visitors who enjoy fishing, there is an opportunity to try the challenges of ice fishing at several rivers and lakes.

Don’t Miss the Spectacular Sun in Sun Valley’s Summer

When the snow melts and the temperatures climb, Sun Valley is rapidly gaining popularity as an ideal outdoor location for family fun. The Sawtooth National Forest has a variety of recreational activities to suit everyone. Much of the forest is primitive and undeveloped wilderness, great for exploring and getting back to nature. It is also an archeological area with almost 1,500 heritage sites to discover. It offers a great opportunity to learn about the area and its archeology, and understand the importance of the natural environment. The area has a wealth of hiking and backpacking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, trail biking, and both lake and river fishing.

There is no better way to get a feel for how the original settlers and inhabitants explored the area than on horseback. The area has some spectacular riding trails, one of the best of which is Cold Canyon. It is a scenic ride, best seen in late summer and early fall when the fall colors are in their prime. Many of these trails are closed to motorized vehicles, making for safe, scenic, peaceful rides.

The fishing season starts in May, usually on Memorial Day, and licenses can be obtained at local stores. The main fishing areas include Big Wood River, the North and Mile Fork of the Boise River, and part of the Payette River. Species in abundance in the rivers include several varieties of trout, such as rainbow, golden, brook and cutthroat. The best early season fishing is at the Salmon River Drainage.
