  • A charming, peaceful lake vacation - thanks to this little piece of cabin heaven

"If I could give a 6-star (or more!) rating, I absolutely would. Rustic elegance sums it up perfectly. The location is remote (22 miles off the 90 and located in Harrison, Idaho), so you truly feel like you are getting away- and in a very good way! This was one of my favorite family vacations ever, and I've gone on many. Well-maintained, beautiful home and grounds. Let's start with the panoramic views- from the deck, pebble beach, fireplace 'lounging' area, front lawn - it was breathtaking, especially the sunsets. This really is one of the best places on the lake, especially given Western exposure. By the way, the fireplace area was reminiscent of a high-end lodge hotel environment was a very pleasant surprise, as it wasn't even pictured in the listing! The inside of the cabin was amazing, the kitchen was the most well-stocked I've ever encountered in a rental and it has been recently remodeled. Nice tile, granite countertops, soft carpet. TV for those that need it with satellite. Plenty of space to lounge- liked the two bedrooms upstairs (A-frame style with rooms on either side both with a queen + twin), then two queen rooms downstairs. The owner, John, was amazingly helpful and answered all of my questions (I'll admit, I'm super Type A and do my research and he never lost patience on me at all, ha). We rented a boat for one day which is fun, as there is a slip - but, beware, boat rental is very expensive. There is an adorable canoe on property which we had fun with, great swimming beach. Harrison, ID is 6 miles away and a cute visit, you can rent bikes along the lake which I recommend. We didn't eat out much and instead toted most of our meals over. Mostly relaxed around cabin/outside and it was wonderful. It really is the best cabin ever- no joke! Thanks John, for your amazing hospitality."

  • Just what we hoped for...

"We have stayed in multiple vacation rentals in Teton valley and in jackson during the winter and this by far was my favorite. Cindy is amazing to work with. House was spotless, and just as described. Complete kitchen, although we were so busy and tired to cook it was nice to know its there. Would recommend 100%. Aloha!"

  • Great home away from home!

"Just finishing up a 5 week stay at this wonderful condo. I came to welcome my new grandson into this world. I decided I should come earlier than my original booking, but the unit was not available for the additional dates. Evidently the tenant ended up leaving earlier and the owner immediately contacted me. I was able to add additional days and had I not I would have missed his birth. The condo has everything one could possibly need. The kitchen is fully stocked with every kitchen appliance, full sets of dishes, pots and pans, utensils that one might need. The bed in the bedroom is extremely comfortable with extra pillows and blankets should you need them. There is a great loft area with an additional two twin beds for guests of yours. The deck has a great bar-b-que and the view is gorgeous. You look out over this beautiful meadow to Baldy. Even now in the winter there are paragliders to enjoy watching land in the meadow in front of you. I have been coming to Ketchum for the past 10 years since my daughter moved here and I have finally found the perfect spot to rent. I had a special request and the property manager went out of her way to make sure she got it set up for me. You can walk to everything Ketchum has to offer from this location. It's just the best and I will be back."

  • A lovely place to stay in Boise

"I lived in Boise for eight years and always wanted an excuse to stay here. Since I've moved away, I now have that excuse. I booked the Story Suite for a weekend in December and was a little disappointed when the host asked the week before my visit whether I'd stay in the Animal Trophy Suite instead since another party wanted to book the Story Suite for a longer stay. However, I enjoyed the Animal Trophy Suite's whimsy and comfortable quarters -- a great retreat for one or two people. The bed was comfy, the kitchenette well furnished, and the location (close to downtown Boise and the North End) is hard to beat. I'm tidy and appreciate that this is one property that does NOT charge an extra cleaning fee, at least for a short stay. I also would have preferred better light-blocking shades ... even in winter, this was not an especially dark room for sleeping. But all quibbles aside, I enjoyed the Boise Guest House and I will be back."

Idaho Travel Tips

Season to Visit Idaho Vacation Rentals

Idaho’s climate varies in accordance with its terrain and is therefore quite different in different parts of the state. The southern low lying regions enjoy warm summers with hot days and balmy nights. Most rainfall occurs during the summer season in this area and rain showers are generally quite short-lived. For many of the lake areas in the south, summer is the preferred time of year to book one of our Idaho rentals. The warm days allow the kids to enjoy playing in the lake waters and enjoying a wide variety of water sport activities. The mountain areas, full of great Idaho cabin rentals, are much cooler and receive heavy snowfall between December and March each year. This provides ideal snow skiing conditions for the many ski resorts.

Activities at Idaho Cabin Rentals

Idaho is home to many scenic lakes. Within easy driving distance, there are at least six lakes which are all great vacation destinations. Facilities vary depending on the recreational classifications of the lakes but all offer great fishing opportunities. Most allow recreational boating including power boating and are ideal destinations for waterskiing, wake boarding and leisurely sunset cruises. Many cabins for rent in Idaho are located on the lakeshore, providing easy access to the water. Many have private docks where you can tie your boat up for the duration of your stay. For families, you can enjoy long summer days enjoying a wide variety of water sports. In the afternoon, you can go into town to buy ice cream and get some bait for an early morning fishing excursion the next day. The lakes are great for paddling and many marinas have kayaks available to hire. In the winter months, one of the most popular activities is snowmobiling. There are also many groomed trails for cross country skiing. In the mountain areas, there are a number of high-class ski resorts, particularly in the area of Sun Valley, where you can easily find great ski cabin rentals in Idaho.

Visitors to Idaho Vacation Rentals

Idaho is probably one of the lesser known vacation destinations. Most people think of it as the potato state and are unaware of the beautiful mountain ranges and lakes that make it an ideal vacation destination. It is a relatively affordable destination where vacation rentals in Idaho are large and spacious. This makes it an ideal destination for a family vacation. People who will enjoy Idaho are those who appreciate nature, beautiful scenery and the outdoors. There are many activities available in both summer and winter. It is a destination where you can relax, take a break from busy city life, and enjoy some quality time with your friends and family. The many lakes attract fishing enthusiasts from both near and far. Many of the communities hold annual fishing fests which are great events to attend.

Traveling to Idaho

The main access point to Idaho is in the Capital City of Boise which is located in the far southwestern corner of the state. To get to the northern parts of Idaho, the closest airport is Spokane International Airport which is located in the neighboring state of Washington. Both these airports host regularly scheduled flights from most major cities in North America. There is quite an extensive and well-maintained road network in Idaho and the best way to get to your vacation destination is usually by car. Rental agencies are located at the airports and it is advisable to make reservations in advance, especially over weekends and peak holiday periods. There are two transcontinental railroads that pass through Idaho. If you want to be able to enjoy the scenery, this is a great way to travel. Check up on the routing to see if the trains stop near your vacation destination.
