  • Another GREAT stay!

"This is the second time staying at this super cabin, and we love it. I's one of the nicest cabins in McCall and we've stayed in several over the years. We'll be returning vacationers. It's within walking distance to the lake, and is nestled in a quiet wooded area. Great value for the money. Great shower water pressure, and impressive family room/kitchen for family fun. & activities. Two "thumbs up.""

  • Perfect respite for our Teton Valley stay

"We had an excellent experience at this condo. It was QUIET, which was a concern of mine in a condo. The only thing we heard was the sound of the creek outside the windows. I was pleasantly surprised with how well stocked the condo was with shampoo, soap, makeup wipes, laundry detergent, etc. - and how lovely the sheets and towels were - soft and fresh. The set up was very comfortable with bedrooms on opposite sides of the living area. Plenty of closet and dresser space to get set up and not just live out of a suitcase. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans as well. We enjoyed the proximity to the ski resort and spent a couple of days there hiking and horseback riding. It is also just 5 minutes to town. David was very quick and kind in all responses to me. I have absolutely nothing but good to say. I would stay here again in a heartbeat."

  • Beautiful Sandpoint

"Great location for access to downtown and the water! We loved kayaking on the river and onto the lake. We could hear the trains but it was pretty nostalgic as so many lines no longer run. The condo was well equipped other than we would have liked to have had a flashlight and candles when the power went out from a sudden storm."

  • Couldn't have been better!

"This place has it all!!! Lone Elk Lodge has the charm, the view, the space, and the best people to run it. Barb and Steve are they caretakers of the lodge and they are wonderful. They made our stay so comfortable and completely carefree! This house has top of the line...well, everything. Everything from the grand theatre room to the HUGE kitchen for gathering and entertaining was absolutely perfect for our party of 17. Barb and Steve were the perfect hosts as they were accommodating but not so much where they interfered with our privacy. There was an occasion where we ran out of propane for the grill and Steve was there quick, fast, and in a hurry with a replacement and a smile. I was getting married that weekend and my limited budget shot down my plans for a traditional venue reception. I asked Barb if the property was appropriate for a backyard reception and she made it work!!! It was absolutely beautiful. The kitchen was user friendly for the caterer, the yard was perfect for our tables and dancing, and the sunset behind the golf course setting allowed for the most amazing pictures. My boyfriend and I visited Jackson Hole (from PA) last October and got engaged in the Tetons. We knew we wanted to be married in the area and have a small wedding with immediate family and close friends. We set our date for June 21st and were blessed to have made our "wedding" a week long celebration. My family stayed in Lone Elk Lodge and my husbands guests also stayed in Victor, Idaho. Our dream wedding of being married in the Tetons would not have been possible if we hadn't stayed in the valley. You get the most for your money, the best people, awesome restaurants, and being out of the immediate tourist town allows for more quality family time. With that being said, anything and everything worth seeing/doing is only a short drive. You WILL NOT be disappointed if you stay at The Lone Elk Lodge! Happy Traveling :)"

Idaho Travel Tips

Season to Visit Idaho Vacation Rentals

Idaho’s climate varies in accordance with its terrain and is therefore quite different in different parts of the state. The southern low lying regions enjoy warm summers with hot days and balmy nights. Most rainfall occurs during the summer season in this area and rain showers are generally quite short-lived. For many of the lake areas in the south, summer is the preferred time of year to book one of our Idaho rentals. The warm days allow the kids to enjoy playing in the lake waters and enjoying a wide variety of water sport activities. The mountain areas, full of great Idaho cabin rentals, are much cooler and receive heavy snowfall between December and March each year. This provides ideal snow skiing conditions for the many ski resorts.

Activities at Idaho Cabin Rentals

Idaho is home to many scenic lakes. Within easy driving distance, there are at least six lakes which are all great vacation destinations. Facilities vary depending on the recreational classifications of the lakes but all offer great fishing opportunities. Most allow recreational boating including power boating and are ideal destinations for waterskiing, wake boarding and leisurely sunset cruises. Many cabins for rent in Idaho are located on the lakeshore, providing easy access to the water. Many have private docks where you can tie your boat up for the duration of your stay. For families, you can enjoy long summer days enjoying a wide variety of water sports. In the afternoon, you can go into town to buy ice cream and get some bait for an early morning fishing excursion the next day. The lakes are great for paddling and many marinas have kayaks available to hire. In the winter months, one of the most popular activities is snowmobiling. There are also many groomed trails for cross country skiing. In the mountain areas, there are a number of high-class ski resorts, particularly in the area of Sun Valley, where you can easily find great ski cabin rentals in Idaho.

Visitors to Idaho Vacation Rentals

Idaho is probably one of the lesser known vacation destinations. Most people think of it as the potato state and are unaware of the beautiful mountain ranges and lakes that make it an ideal vacation destination. It is a relatively affordable destination where vacation rentals in Idaho are large and spacious. This makes it an ideal destination for a family vacation. People who will enjoy Idaho are those who appreciate nature, beautiful scenery and the outdoors. There are many activities available in both summer and winter. It is a destination where you can relax, take a break from busy city life, and enjoy some quality time with your friends and family. The many lakes attract fishing enthusiasts from both near and far. Many of the communities hold annual fishing fests which are great events to attend.

Traveling to Idaho

The main access point to Idaho is in the Capital City of Boise which is located in the far southwestern corner of the state. To get to the northern parts of Idaho, the closest airport is Spokane International Airport which is located in the neighboring state of Washington. Both these airports host regularly scheduled flights from most major cities in North America. There is quite an extensive and well-maintained road network in Idaho and the best way to get to your vacation destination is usually by car. Rental agencies are located at the airports and it is advisable to make reservations in advance, especially over weekends and peak holiday periods. There are two transcontinental railroads that pass through Idaho. If you want to be able to enjoy the scenery, this is a great way to travel. Check up on the routing to see if the trains stop near your vacation destination.
