"It is my pleasure to recommend this property to most anyone who needs "a home away from home." My husband had serious surgery at Northwestern Hospital and our daughters traveled some distance to support us. This apartment was perfect for us girls while my husband was in the hospital. After his discharge from the hospital, my husband and I were greeted with warm hugs and delicious pastries made by our generous host - Nadiya. At that point it was just the two of us in this darling unit. Nadiya treated us like family and just looking at the picture above again - makes me homesick for it. The unit and owner are both a true delight! Thanks again for making us feel so at “home” in your home. We shall return!!!"

"Just returned from a lovely stay at a wonderful mini farm set in some pretty rolling wooded hills. The best word I can think of to describe the cabin is charming and the owners are charming, warm lovely people as well. The farm has some friendly horses, cows, a dog and a cat and some nice hiking. If you would like a taste of the "country life" this property is perfect. The owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and that this is your home away from home. I got a yummy plate of freshly baked cookies and even a tour of the main house! It's quiet and peaceful and the master bedroom bed is thick foam mattress and super comfy. You are away from it all and yet a few minutes drive and you can find groceries or a fine restaurant. It truly is the best of both worlds and I would definitely stay there again"

"I booked this place for an extended family getaway for a long weekend. Age 70 to just 1 year (brought a pack and play for the baby). Everyone found something to do. Fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, game room, horseback riding, kayak, by the way all of this was done right in the community the house is at. Plus of course heading into downtown Galena for shopping...only a 15 to 20 minute drive. If you plan on coming I would recommend making reservations at the stable for riding and the kayaks as soon as you get there. They can book up fast especially on Sat/Sun. I would only bring bikes if those who are riding are old enough to be comfortable on the road (no sidewalks) and can handle HILLS! Although there is a nice paved trail up the way it is extremely hilly, we are talking going down at 25 mph and having to walk the bike partway up the hills. That being said there were several of us adults and some pre-teen and teenagers who rode the bikes to the pool. Totally doable, only about 1.5 mi ride to the pool and game room, (bring a bike lock), but again extremely hilly and you are sharing the road with cars.
Now to the house, just as it is pictured! The only thing missing out the pictures is the hill that makes up the driveway! Mavis was extremely helpful with questions prior to booking and never had a problem there. The kitchen has plenty of pots/pans, even a Keurig. No need to bring much. I just brought my favorite chopping knife. There is a Piggly Wiggly grocery store about 5 minutes past downtown Galena. We actually only ate out for a few lunches, we had all our dinners in the house...utilized the grill often. (Grill is not perfect, the shelf is WOBBLY, but will do.) I would totally recommend this place to a large family. Lots of fun in the area."

"You always wish you can find owners like Marta and Jason. Their cozy apartment was perfect for my group of 4 that was in town for Riot Fest. The apartment is clean and stocked with just about anything you would expect to find in your own place. They even provide some breakfast foods to get your visit started. We actually arrived with a small cold front, but the apartment easily keeps you warm at night. The shower was always hot, the WiFi was always strong, and the owners were always friendly. Marta and Jason live on the property and made themselves available for any questions and requests.
I've been to Chicago quite a few times, and this is by far, the best neighborhood I've stayed in. We always felt safe and everything is only a few minutes away. We ventured without a car, which was fine, because you have a Blue line stop 5 minutes away, and multiple, convenient buses nearby. Our group really took advantage of the great eats in the surrounding area of Wicker Park. Some recommendations nearby: Las Palmas (Mexican), Max's Wine Dive (American), and of course, our daily stop at Stan's Donuts & Coffee (Amazing). The 72 bus got us to and from Riot Fest at Humboldt Park everyday and night from the festival. If for some reason, you're to lazy at night to use a CTA option, there always seems to be multiple Uber drivers in the area.
Chicago is a fantastic city. But when you're staying in a great little place like this, in a location you can't beat, the experience is only enhanced that much more. Without hesitation, I would stay here again."
