  • FABULOUS!!

"We would wholeheartedly recommend this absolutely fantastic condo!! It was truly a home away from home and made what could have been a really exhausting trip a super easy and relaxing stay for all of us, including our 2 year old and our elderly parents. Nadiya was very responsive and helpful and we couldn't have asked for a better hostess. The condo was clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable and was in a great location for us as all the major Chicago attractions are all within walking distance, not to mention the restaurants, boutiques, shops and supermarkets nearby. I don't remember enjoying Chicago this much in the past but by the end of our trip we were already planning our next trip back. Thanks Nadiya!!"

  • Very nice rental house

"Overall, our stay at the lodge was great. The hot tub outside is cleverly placed on a patio walled up by mosquito nets, so you can comfortably stay there, enjoy the summer weather and not worry about any bugs coming in. The nature surrounding the house gives it a nice, secluded feel. We did, however, have two issues with the house. While it comfortably sleeps 10 people, the dining table has only 6 chairs. So 4 of us had to sit on high chairs and we couldn't all comfortably sit down for a meal. In addition to this, although the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, there were not enough normal sized glasses in it, so we ended up buying a set of 8 large water glasses and left it there for the next people to come. Aside from this, the lodge was a wonderful place for a getaway weekend. I would recommend it."

  • Nice apt for short term stay

"My husband and I rented this apartment for 2 1/2 weeks. The apartment is better suited for a stay of a couple of days rather than the longer stay we had. The kitchen was very small with little counter space for cooking, had no dishwasher, and lacked some basic kitchen tools for cooking from scratch. There was also little space to store dishes and pots and pans, which made it more difficult to cook. The other drawbacks were an small bathroom, and an uncomfortable, soft mattress. Also, I expected the apartment to be cleaned more professionally because there is a cleaning fee. Instead, there was dust and cobwebs under the furniture and the bathroom was not scoured as it should have been. That said, the owner is very nice and did try to supply items requested, and the owner did leave some food and cleaning supplies for us. The apartment is also located on a quiet street and very conveniently located to downtown Evanston, and public transportation. We were able to bike or walk downtown and to nice restaurants and Whole Foods. Being 1/2 mile from the Metra made it easy to get to downtown Chicago for some fun exploration."

  • Great Large family getaway

"I booked this place for an extended family getaway for a long weekend. Age 70 to just 1 year (brought a pack and play for the baby). Everyone found something to do. Fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, game room, horseback riding, kayak, by the way all of this was done right in the community the house is at. Plus of course heading into downtown Galena for shopping...only a 15 to 20 minute drive. If you plan on coming I would recommend making reservations at the stable for riding and the kayaks as soon as you get there. They can book up fast especially on Sat/Sun. I would only bring bikes if those who are riding are old enough to be comfortable on the road (no sidewalks) and can handle HILLS! Although there is a nice paved trail up the way it is extremely hilly, we are talking going down at 25 mph and having to walk the bike partway up the hills. That being said there were several of us adults and some pre-teen and teenagers who rode the bikes to the pool. Totally doable, only about 1.5 mi ride to the pool and game room, (bring a bike lock), but again extremely hilly and you are sharing the road with cars. Now to the house, just as it is pictured! The only thing missing out the pictures is the hill that makes up the driveway! Mavis was extremely helpful with questions prior to booking and never had a problem there. The kitchen has plenty of pots/pans, even a Keurig. No need to bring much. I just brought my favorite chopping knife. There is a Piggly Wiggly grocery store about 5 minutes past downtown Galena. We actually only ate out for a few lunches, we had all our dinners in the house...utilized the grill often. (Grill is not perfect, the shelf is WOBBLY, but will do.) I would totally recommend this place to a large family. Lots of fun in the area."
