  • Our Stay on Lake Shafer

"From the moment that we arrived we knew we had found the perfect spot on Lake Shafer to have our family vacation. The pictures that we had seen prior to arrive could not have depicted a more accurate vision of what the property looked like. We were met by one of the owners who showed us around the home and the property. When he left we knew where everything was located that we might need and how all the appliances and electronics worked. The rental home was so spacious. It gave everyone a space to go to when we wanted some quiet time, and the large living room overlooking the lake and the basement gave us great space to gather and have fun. The property was spotless and in great condition upon our arrival. The dock was quite large and allowed us to have fun diving and jumping into the lake. We did not have a boat but the dock was certainly large enough to dock a boat if needed. Played a round of golf at the Tippecanoe C.C., got to go over to Indiana Beach Resort, and had a dinner at the Riverside restaurant. Three enjoyable activities all within 15 minutes drive time. I do want to mention the following. We had a small problem with the well pump. But one call to the owners and they had someone right out to fix the problem for us and we never missed a beat in enjoying our vacation. I would not hesitate to rent from them again. They are truly concerned about the people who rent from them and their desire is for everyone to have a wonderful time. I cannot recommend more highly this rental property or the owners of the property. They were a great combination and gave us a family reunion that we will remember for many years to come."

  • Marti & Bruce

"Our stay was very comfortable the neighbors were friendly and the neighborhood was quiet. The house updated, neat and clean as portrayed in the photos. The southshore is conveniently located to go into Chicago or Michigan City. Plenty of things to do in the area within a convenient drive. The upstairs loft had awesome views of the lake and the Chicago skyline. The MacDougalls were wonderful to work with and we would recommend renting this property."

  • Beautiful secluded lakeshore house surrounded by nature.

"While attending A July retreat in the Chicago area, I had the good fortune to find a rental house on Lake Michigan , that also served as a wonderful lodging for me during my retreat. This beautiful three bedroom, split level, charming lake house,is surrounded by beautiful nature vistas, visible, thanks to the full length ceiling to floor windows in most rooms. This enables the light to play beautifully on the warm, wooded paneled walls, as well as provide great illumination, even on a cloudy day. The house has the ambience of a secluded space, but the Michigan shore is a mere block away. A well stocked and organized kitchen adds to the pleasure of cooking, and makes dining in a real pleasure. At the rear of the house is a peaceful patio and barbeque area for good weather use. Artistic touches within the house invite the guest to enjoy the peace and calm within, or enjoy any of the electronics;phone, stereo, or TV, DVD,with thoughtfully provided instructions making it easy to use any of these devices. The ambience of this house in the forest setting makes one reluctant to depart. In the future, I look forward to sampling other seasons on this special property."

  • Sister Weekend

"This is our favorite home away from home! The peacefulness and tranquility of Zenadu's surroundings provide rest and relaxation. We especially enjoy the screened in porch for morning coffee and late night chats. The scenic walk to the beach was well worth it! Thanks for another amazing Sister Weekend!!"
