  • LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION

"The charm of this cabin combined with its location is a delight. Southern Indiana, with its beautiful rolling hills was an unexpected pleasure. We truly had no idea the beauty of Brown County and the Old Hickory Cabin is in the midst of its splendor. The cabin is built into a hillside with incredible views of all that nature has to offer. The cabin interior, in a word…“charming.” It is perfectly appointed, clean, comfortable and cozy. Truly, this place is a treasure! My husband and I enjoyed the cabin and all of its amenities, especially the fireplace in the evenings and the views outback each morning. The location is just minutes away from the quaint village of Nashville and its charming shops and great restaurants. (We loved Big Woods.) It’s also close to Brown County State Park where we experienced our first mountain bike adventure. (We rented bikes from Hesitation Point Bike & Backcountry.) We also caught a performance by Haywood Banks at the local Playhouse Performing Arts Center. There is so much to do and see here and our three night stay just didn’t give us enough time. So without a doubt, we will be back to visit the beauty and charm of Brown County and Old Hickory. Thank you Lee’s for your hospitality and for sharing your little piece of Southern Indiana."

  • Great Family vacation!

"We recently rented this home for a week in Culver and had a great experience. Thanks to Lydia (owner) our family vacation couldn't have been better. This home is very clean, within walking distance to the down town area & beach, and has a huge yard for the kids to play. Thank you again and we will be back!"

  • Relaxing and Cozy!

"We had a wonderful time relaxing by the fire, sitting in the hot tub, and just enjoying the beautiful setting here at Trinity Hill. Jim and Jan were wonderful to work with!! We explored the city of Nashville, which is just a quick drive away. It was beautiful around the holiday season. The cabin was perfect for our group of 4. Plenty of space and comfortable rooms! We are already talking about another visit. Thanks Jim and Jan for sharing this amazing little getaway!"

  • Nice cozy cottage on Clear Lake!

"When we arrived at the cottage we were very pleased as it was everything the owner Janet had described in her listing. The home was well equipped with furnishings and kitchen essentials to make our stay comfortable and accommodating for all of our needs. This lakefront property was absolutely everything we were looking for. We made a trip into nearby Angola for dinner one night and enjoyed some activities there as well. This home can easily accommodate many others, so the next time we visit we will be bringing our sons and their families to enjoy the recreational lake with tubing and waterskiing. We did try some fishing while on the lake and caught a few but since it was August, we feel May would be the best time to return to really catch our limit! We enjoyed sitting on the deck, having a glass of wine and really taking in the beauty of the sunset over the lake. It was quiet on the lake as we went during the week and we enjoyed not having so many boaters on the lake. This home was clean, very spacious and had all the amenities we wanted for a relaxing get away for two. The owner was very helpful and friendly and I enjoyed talking with her on several occasions. She was very accommodating to us and we appreciated her willingness to work with our schedule. We will definitely return to Clear Lake and hope this cottage will be available for our family in the future. :)"

Indiana Travel Tips

Getting to Indiana Vacation Rentals

There are two main travel hubs to Indiana. If you are traveling to the central or southern regions of the state, you will fly to Indianapolis International Airport. The airport hosts all major North American carriers and has regular commercial flight connections. If you are traveling to the far southern parts of Indiana, the most convenient access point would be Louisville International Airport in Kentucky. The airport is located just across the Ohio River which forms the state border with Indiana. For travelers who will be spending their vacations on Lake Michigan and in the northern parts of Indiana, the best airport to travel to would be either Chicago O'Hare International Airport or Chicago Midway International Airport. Technically, this area falls into the greater Chicago Metropolitan area even though it is part of Indiana. From all these airports, there are good public transport links into the cities and surrounding areas. There is an extensive rail network which provides easy access to the major cities. If you prefer, you can also hire a car and drive to your vacation destination.

Attractions and Activities at Indiana Lake Homes

One of the most popular vacation destinations in Indiana is Lake Michigan. The state borders only a small portion of the lakeshore but it is where many of the vacation homes are concentrated. Because Indiana is on the southeastern shoreline, visitors can benefit from magnificent sunsets over the lake. Favorite pastimes include fishing and boating. Many of the lakeside communities are quite seasonal and become hives of activity during the summer months. There are often fishing tournaments and other fun-filled events that take place in season.

If you want to explore some of the lakeshore, you can hire a canoe or kayak and go for a leisurely paddle. There are several State Parks where you can enjoy nature trails, go for hikes and spend the early morning birdwatching. The Dunes State Park is a section of land along the Lake Michigan shoreline which is ideal for wildlife viewing. There are many other state parks in Indiana where you can go hiking or mountain biking. In the south central part of Indiana, you can visit the Bluespring Caverns in Bedford where you take a boat ride through the caves. Indiana has a rich cultural heritage and this is evidenced by the many museums dotted throughout the state. Several are dedicated specifically to the artistic heritage of Indiana.

Visitors to Indiana Cottages

Indiana is a great family vacation destination. Whether you are fishing along the shore of Lake Michigan or hiking a nature trail, there are many different outdoor activities that you can enjoy as a family. There are also several fun amusement parks that offer rides and entertainment for kids of all ages. For those who have an interest in art and culture, there are many art galleries and museums in the major towns and cities in Indiana. If you are an outdoor-type person and want to explore nature, there are many state parks where you can go mountain biking or hiking along the nature trails.

Seasons to Visit Indiana

Indiana has attractions that can be enjoyed throughout the year. For those who want to enjoy the lakes and parks, the best time of year to visit would be during the summer months. The temperatures are generally hot with the occasional thunderstorms. The peak travel season is during the months of July and August which coincide with the summer vacation season. Many families choose this time of year to have an extended family vacation.
