  • Clean and well equipped.

"Very well equipped kitchen, plus a gas grill and a fire pit with firewood made it very easy to prepare all our meals. A clean rental, and my family appreciated the large number of TV channels available. It was a great rental for our 4 generations."

  • Ultimate in Relaxation!

"We had a girls reunion weekend at this lovely home, and enjoyed every moment. Just seconds to walk to the beach, and a few short minutes to the dunes / state park. We enjoyed walks (and runs!) along the beach, and explored many hiking trails along the dunes/ Lake Michigan. The house was well stocked with paper products, and the kitchen offered a spacious and clean area for cooking and enjoying many meals together. The evenings were perfect for relaxing in the living room, and enjoying the view. The internet worked flawlessly. Certainly the house is not fully updated, but we found it clean, comfortable, and enjoyed the quirkiness. The owner was very responsive/prompt in answering all of our questions prior to the trip. Thank you!!!"

  • A great beach rental

"Four of us drove from Atlanta, Georgia to this slice of heaven on Lake Michigan. The price was right and the house was perfect for us. Close to the beach and Michigan City restaurants and attractions. You can walk to a great zoo as well. The landlords were wonderful to work with and easy to contact. The house was great...very clean and pleasant. I like the back deck, also. I would recommend this home for small families or groups. It was great!!"

  • Great Stay!

"This was such a last minute trip for us, but we were so glad we found this place and were able to stay here! It's not too far from things, and it had everything there that we needed in the rental. Very clean and cozy place, a lot of room to do things, and a huge yard where you can walk down to the water and have a campfire. We all had so much fun and can't wait to be able to go back! The owners were so nice and accommodating we couldn't have asked for better people. Thank you so much, it was an incredible weekend away with the kids!"

Indiana Travel Tips

Getting to Indiana Vacation Rentals

There are two main travel hubs to Indiana. If you are traveling to the central or southern regions of the state, you will fly to Indianapolis International Airport. The airport hosts all major North American carriers and has regular commercial flight connections. If you are traveling to the far southern parts of Indiana, the most convenient access point would be Louisville International Airport in Kentucky. The airport is located just across the Ohio River which forms the state border with Indiana. For travelers who will be spending their vacations on Lake Michigan and in the northern parts of Indiana, the best airport to travel to would be either Chicago O'Hare International Airport or Chicago Midway International Airport. Technically, this area falls into the greater Chicago Metropolitan area even though it is part of Indiana. From all these airports, there are good public transport links into the cities and surrounding areas. There is an extensive rail network which provides easy access to the major cities. If you prefer, you can also hire a car and drive to your vacation destination.

Attractions and Activities at Indiana Lake Homes

One of the most popular vacation destinations in Indiana is Lake Michigan. The state borders only a small portion of the lakeshore but it is where many of the vacation homes are concentrated. Because Indiana is on the southeastern shoreline, visitors can benefit from magnificent sunsets over the lake. Favorite pastimes include fishing and boating. Many of the lakeside communities are quite seasonal and become hives of activity during the summer months. There are often fishing tournaments and other fun-filled events that take place in season.

If you want to explore some of the lakeshore, you can hire a canoe or kayak and go for a leisurely paddle. There are several State Parks where you can enjoy nature trails, go for hikes and spend the early morning birdwatching. The Dunes State Park is a section of land along the Lake Michigan shoreline which is ideal for wildlife viewing. There are many other state parks in Indiana where you can go hiking or mountain biking. In the south central part of Indiana, you can visit the Bluespring Caverns in Bedford where you take a boat ride through the caves. Indiana has a rich cultural heritage and this is evidenced by the many museums dotted throughout the state. Several are dedicated specifically to the artistic heritage of Indiana.

Visitors to Indiana Cottages

Indiana is a great family vacation destination. Whether you are fishing along the shore of Lake Michigan or hiking a nature trail, there are many different outdoor activities that you can enjoy as a family. There are also several fun amusement parks that offer rides and entertainment for kids of all ages. For those who have an interest in art and culture, there are many art galleries and museums in the major towns and cities in Indiana. If you are an outdoor-type person and want to explore nature, there are many state parks where you can go mountain biking or hiking along the nature trails.

Seasons to Visit Indiana

Indiana has attractions that can be enjoyed throughout the year. For those who want to enjoy the lakes and parks, the best time of year to visit would be during the summer months. The temperatures are generally hot with the occasional thunderstorms. The peak travel season is during the months of July and August which coincide with the summer vacation season. Many families choose this time of year to have an extended family vacation.
