  • Nice Spacious house in the country

"We had a great time here. This house is much bigger than it looks online. With 2 full kitchens, 2 refrigerators in the main one. 2 big master suites on the main level, both with jetted tubs in private baths and a half bath as well. The basement has 3 more private bedrooms and 2 more bathrooms. And there's plenty of room in the basement family room for a couple air mattresses. The owners gave our group of 16 a private winery tour. There was a lot of wildlife to enjoy. Very nice country setting with a pond right in the back yard."

  • Great Cabin! Plenty to do at Bridges Bay!

"We stayed June 15-22 just before Okoboji swells for the 4th of July. The cabin was clean with fresh linens when we arrived. The three bedrooms are nice to spread out and have peace and quiet if you need it (our 2 year old needed daily naps). The three bathrooms were great because you could have two showers going and with the 1/2 bath on the main floor, this allowed an additional bathroom if the other two bathrooms were occupied. Everything is provided as far as towels, plates, pots, pans, silverware, etc. Other appliances such as coffee maker and blender are in the cabin as well. You only need to bring your personal belongings and toiletries. This is one of maybe 3 or 4 units that have a 2 stall garage. We pulled our boat up and drive a Tahoe. The double stall driveway left plenty of room to maneuver vehicles and the garage provided peace of mind at night. There are new cabins being built in the area so it did become difficult at times to drive through the community with all of the construction trucks and trailers as well as ignoring some of the compressors, nail guns and saws being used. You are responsible for removing your own trash but there are 2-3 trash dumpsters in the community which makes this duty very simple and easy. We took our trash out each morning on the way to the pool or lake which kept things in order. The water park is close enough to walk to and my kids (ages 2 and 6) loved the variety of things to do there. The adults can enjoy the lazy river and even the water slide. The pool water was very warm and the outdoor pool was nice to catch some sun. With the 6 daily passes that come with the unit, this was definitely a nice way to start or end the day. Braccos is also within walking distance and is an upgrade from other surrounding restaurants due to the quality of food and water view while dining. The menu is a bit pricey. Overall - I would recommend this cabin as the owners were very helpful and answered any questions we had prior to our stay. This is definitely one of the newest developments in the Okoboji area and you pay a premium for the ammenities that are included with the rental. That being said, it was well worth the money for us and we would definitely stay again. Enjoy!"

  • Perfect event location

"The family that owns this house that sleeps 10-12 had another house just around the corner that sleeps 16. So that's the Victorian that we stayed in. It was large and spacious and had perfect time period decorations and furniture. Every room had a bathroom. There was a huge table to seat our guests at and two seating areas, one with a tv and cable. Unfortunately, since it was so miserably cold, the heat didn't actually warm the house until the second day, but the owners had space heaters brought in. The house was not the cleanest, but it was definitely not dirty. With an old house it's hard to keep everything dusted. But, one would think with a large cleaning fee, that it would be spotless. The backyard view was lovely, looking down on the Mississippi River and bridge. The original house that is listed is just as beautiful, but more updated and decorated. If you're looking to house a lot of people, then these two houses are recommended."

  • A Family Reunion Spot that is "hard to top!"

"Fifteen people ( 8 adults and 7 children) recently gathered at The Barn House for a wonderful family reunion. When we were checking out, everyone said, "This place will be hard to top!" (We take turns selecting a place to stay for our reunions.) Truer words were never spoken! When we arrived the house was immaculate, awe-inspiring, and so very spacious! Gerarda and Tony really have a gem here! And they were wonderful to us! They gave us an amazing place to create beautiful memories! The Barn House can never be truly understood through the pics on this site! Let me tell you a few surprises for us. There are 3 levels and an elevator that my 75 year old mother-in-law greatly appreciated. The whole place is beautifully decorated and they include everything you could possibly want…shampoo, soap, laundry detergent, cooking oil, syran wrap, the list goes on and on! We immensely enjoyed preparing several family meals using their professional stove, refrigerator, gas grill and prep area. There were two huge dining room tables inside, as well as, three patio tables on the upper deck and screened-in porch. The fire pit on site was a gathering place each evening for smores and family stories. The huge area on the first floor allowed us to all lounge comfortably as we watched family videos. Tony and Gerarda live next door and respected our privacy throughout our stay. We loved chatting with both of them when they brought over a mounding platter of home baked chocolate oatmeal cookies! My husband and I stayed in the master suite in the loft area since it was our 23 wedding anniversary. What an incredibly gorgeous bedroom. The stunning stained-glass windows, comfy leather reading chairs and private bath and jacuzzi tub made us feel so very pampered! We loved using the nearby walking/bike trail and even spent part of a morning wading in the ankle-deep water. We were close to "The Field of Dreams, Dubuque, and Galena, and were able to explore these places with only a short drive. My husband's aunt said, "I"ve stayed at 7 different VRBO homes all over the country and this one by far has been the best!" She sums up our family's thoughts exactly…The Barn House is simply the best place to stay!"
