"We had our family reunion at Buck Run Lodge. Of course there's always one or two families that show up unexpectedly so we had more than originally anticipated. It worked out great anyway! There's room for 1 or 2 blow up beds on the floor. The family made memories with fishing, kayaking, making s'mores at the fire pit and soaking up the beauty of this place. The huge wrap around porch was perfect. My aunt is in a wheelchair but got around just fine. It would be great to have some handicap handles in the shower but it worked out for her without. My husband grilled every meal on their park grill but we had to be patient as it is petite. Another twin of the current grill or a small propane grill you bring along would work. I would definitely recommend this place to others (already have)."

"I rented Mojo for an extended weekend for a multi-generational family gathering. We had folks in their 70's, 40's and teens. First, tips: Double check your GPS against a map before heading out (sediment basin threw my GPS off) and be advised there is a fair amount of gravel road on the way that was tricky after a rain. (Most of us had sport utility vehicles but my parents' Buick also did okay.) Also, Verizon users had full cell service while AT&T users had no service. (The wifi in the house worked very well.) Also, there is no fenced outdoor space, so it is out on leash to do business for dogs who will want to follow all those good woodsy smells and chase critters like deer and turkey. Finally, be aware that access to the lake from the house is via approximately 90 steps (interrupted by entertainment spaces and landings up top but the last set is a straight somewhat steep set), which was a challenge for the older members of the family and my geriatric dog. Now, raves: What a beautiful, peaceful place! The decor was charming and everything was very clean. All ages had plenty to do even when the weather did not cooperate. The kids played ping pong and pool, explored the grounds and enjoyed the swim platform in the lake. The older adults took day trips to nearby winery and towns. We watched movies together at night and folks sat around the fire pit after. And, we ate every meal on the large upper deck (the covered side when it rained), which was like eating in a tree house with a beautiful view. The deck was my favorite part of the house. The bedrooms were comfortable; though, the bedroom with the full bed is actually more like the laundry room with a bed in the corner (all the rest were spacious). Having large bathrooms on every floor was very helpful, as was having several entertainment spaces indoors and out. Steve, the owner, was very friendly and responsive by e-mail before and after the trip. I will be looking for reasons and opportunities to go back to Mojo."

"Let us add our glowing review to the dozens of positive reviews that others have already written here. We recently spent two wonderful days and nights at the Edelweiss cabin to celebrate our anniversary, and we could have not asked for a more peaceful and romantic experience. The cabin is very clean and well furnished with most anything you might need for your stay. The view from the screened-in porch is amazing—we saw deer playing in the open meadow behind the house, wild turkeys strutting in the open areas, and all manner of birds and other wildlife. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit each night as we gazed at the stars, and we also made use of the kayaks and paddleboat that are provided.
Even more than the comfortable and well-maintained cabin and property, however, you will soon come to appreciate the glorious privacy and the sense of peace and tranquility that make this such an amazing experience. We were just a few minutes drive to all of the historic sites in Dubuque, yet when we settled in at the Edelweiss cabin, we felt that we were a world away from the noise and commotion of a busy city.
Laura was a pleasure to work with, and we enjoyed the freshly baked cookies when we arrived. The Edelweiss cabin is perfect for one or two couples, but with the other cabin just a short walk away, this setting would be perfect for a small family get-together as well. We will no doubt return for another relaxing stay, and we have already told some of our friends about the cabins."
