  • Wonderful house to rent!

"My friends and I just loved this house! It is walking distance to both the downtown and the KU campus. The house is so comfortable and enough room for the group of us to relax and enjoy our reunion! I would rent this house again when I come to Lawrence to visit!!"

  • A great place to stay in Manhattan

"Our stay at Grandma Mitchen Manor was wonderful. The house is so inviting you feel like your home the minute you enter the house. Susan and Randy have made the house a pleasant place to stay, clean and comfortable. Having 2 bathrooms makes it perfect to share the house with others. My sister and husband stayed with us as we were all in town for a wedding. Having plenty of space to move around was nice and to enjoy your coffee in the morning and not feel rushed. Most import thing about the house was the way Susan made it possible for us to stay there. Susan called several times before our stay to see what she could do as to cleaning and laundry products. My husband has a problem with any kind of products that have scents. Susan went out of her way to accommodate us. I have use Vrbo in Europe several times and was please with their service. Wasn't disappointed this time either."

  • Excellent choice

"There were 4 of us: myself (70s), son (50), friends (60s), so we used the main-floor bedroom, the lower-level bedroom, and had a single bed set up in the small room off the kitchen. All our accommodations were comfortable, and having a bathroom on each floor meant that there wasn't any early-morning congestion. The common areas (living room, kitchen, eating area) were large enough that we did not feel crowded. The good: Owner very responsive, and house was well equipped (even mosquito repellent!). View awesome. The pictures on the website were accurate, property as described. Very clean. Location extremely convenient for accessing downtown, baseball stadium, etc. Owner provided excellent information about the house, the neighborhood, and sightseeing. The neighborhood was calm, safe, and friendly. Traffic noise from highways audible outside, but inside the house it was quiet. Parking on the street but we always had plenty of room for our two cars. We would certainly recommend the house to others, and would consider staying here again if we return to the area. The house does not have handicapped access. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the steps up to the house from the sidewalk are old and require care in navigating, especially in heavy rain. However, there is a railing and we had no real problems."

  • stopover vacation treat

"I was looking for a stopover place to stay on our drive from Texas to Nebraska to bury my mom's ashes when I found this fantastic and magical place. It turned our trip into a wonderful vacation as well, as we could see the Flint Hills, Great Prairies and enjoy the thrill of staying right next to an active train route! I had my 2 Brittany dogs and daughter and sister and we rented 2 of the 3 rooms. They were both lovely and had a full kitchen in each so we were able to cook our dinner and sit on the porch enjoying the lovely views. Plenty of room to let my dogs run and we only wished we could have stayed longer. I'd recommend this place especially to dog lovers who want to travel with their 4 legged family members. There are alot of trails that are also pet friendly in the Great Prairie National Preserve nearby. And it was fun sitting on the back porch feeling and watching the trains go by. That was a special treat!"
