"What a beautiful, serene setting any time of year. Though I only stayed by myself, the lodge was large enough for multiple families. It was an excellent and relaxing getaway. I went for long walks in nature (an unusually warm day for Jan) and enjoyed the sunshine on the back porch. Saw deer, pheasant, horses, cattle and tons of birds. When it finally got cold I went indoors for the warmth of the fireplace."

"I was looking for a stopover place to stay on our drive from Texas to Nebraska to bury my mom's ashes when I found this fantastic and magical place. It turned our trip into a wonderful vacation as well, as we could see the Flint Hills, Great Prairies and enjoy the thrill of staying right next to an active train route! I had my 2 Brittany dogs and daughter and sister and we rented 2 of the 3 rooms. They were both lovely and had a full kitchen in each so we were able to cook our dinner and sit on the porch enjoying the lovely views. Plenty of room to let my dogs run and we only wished we could have stayed longer. I'd recommend this place especially to dog lovers who want to travel with their 4 legged family members. There are alot of trails that are also pet friendly in the Great Prairie National Preserve nearby. And it was fun sitting on the back porch feeling and watching the trains go by. That was a special treat!"

"This is a great historical house in a nice small town. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay in the Flint Hills. The house was exceptionally clean and much larger than expected. My wife and I had fun touring the back country roads and exploring the hills. The hosts gave us maps and information for exploring the area which we very much appreciated. They were super nice and fun to chat with. By the way, the trains that go by every once in a while are terrific, we really enjoyed them, and the house is so quiet you don’t even notice them, we slept great! Thanks for a wonderful visit!"

"My wife and I stayed in the Lowell house for a week and have nothing but good things to say. After usually staying in "look-alike" hotels, we decided to rent a house in hopes of a more interesting experience. We got just what we were looking for! The house is in an older neighborhood but has been completely updated inside with "thrift store chic" furniture and decor. Much more fun than a hotel! There's a large comfortable bedroom and a smaller one on the first floor, so older folks or those with limited mobility are accommodated, while there two double beds downstairs for more flexible people. The house was outfitted with everything we needed for our stay from kitchen supplies and cookware to bathroom toiletries and laundry detergent. Having a washer and dryer was a treat and allowed us to pack lighter. There's an amazing view of the KC city skyline from the front of the house and a nice backyard. We had a few simple questions that arose during our stay and found Steven, the owner to be very available and extremely helpful. He dropped by personally to see that we had everything we needed and we had a really enjoyable chat. We certainly plan to book this house for our next trip to KC and give it two thumbs up all around!"
