  • Just the right spot. Just the right place.

"My adult daughter and I stayed at the cabin for a long weekend father-daughter trip. It was a short drive to both Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge for hiking, which we did plenty of. There is not much for supplies nearby, but hitting the next exit on the interstate got us groceries and supplies. The cabin seemed a bit small at first, but then it seemed just right. Back deck was nice for reading and listening to the rain and inside it was surprisingly warm and cozy. Sleep came easy. One thing that took us a while to catch was that the heater in the living room has a switch on the top/back of the right side of it, that turns it on. Once it turns on, it doesn't need to be on for long. It puts out plenty of heat and the cabin holds it well. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and had no trouble with what looked liked an old stove. We cooked both on the stove and in the oven and the food came out just fine. There is plenty of china and silverware. The small "dorm" sized fridge was the right size. The bathroomn is well done and interesting. Gave me some ideas for my own bathroom. Shower is plenty big and the is ample hot water and water pressure. I ended up folding out the couch for sleeping, though if more than one bed is needed, you might conside a blow-up one. Since there is no TV, which is a good thing, we ended up listening to the iPod, which was hooked in to a small amp, all weekend. There was a really good selection of good music on it. Some 6,000 songs. Just after we turned on to KY 77, we stopped for a load of firewood. There were 3 men selling dry wood and they were complete gentlemen. Did a nice job of loading wood in to the car and making sure we had ample kindling. Only issue was all the rain, which did not stop us from hiking, but did keep us from being able to make "Hobos" in the fire. Ended up making them in the oven, but it was not quite as much fun. Overall it was a great trip and we hated to leave. We got just what he hoped for out of the cabin."

  • Another weekend in paradise

"Experienced a wonderful albeit brief time in our favorite hide-away on the Cumberland. Just a few minutes from Burkesville, but sitting in the porch swing above the Cumberland you'd swear you were a million miles from civilization. The wildlife was varied and the fishing exceptional, even with the high water. We caught three nice 20+-inch Rainbows, a real pig-of-a-walleye (over 4 pounds, easy) and a few nice Browns too."

  • Great, nicely done, nice location

"The owners exhibited the right balance of being sure the property met our expectations, we knew places to go and how to get there, and that we had what we needed, all in succinct manner yet without being a bother. We heard from them once after we called for final instructions on check in (they had sent the info, I had missed it). They've done this before. The property was very nice; being a 2nd floor garage apt with exterior stairs, we loved it; we considered it a "tree house" because the patio/deck was so heavily shaded. Everything in the kitchen was clean and worked, stove, fridge, oven, toaster, and the 1 bath fixtures were clean and in good repair also. It was decorated well, smelled nice, and was a quiet residential area. Living on 8 acres for more than 10 years, we had to re-adjust to city parking, but we were never without a decent spot to park. A relative moved to the old louisville area of town, a very charming area only a mile and a half away. U of L was even closer. We loved our stay mad will do it again as events permit."

  • Peaceful and beautiful!!

"My family came into town for my son's wedding. We were happy to walk into a beautiful home with a wide open floor plan. The bedrooms were all so perfect and decorated with horse race theme and so was the rest of the house. Fresh eggs in the refrigerator and everything that you needed for cooking. Todd responded immediately to a couple of emails about the t.v. and was extremely helpful. We would love to stay again sometime."
