  • Very nice place to stay, plenty of room for our family of 5!

"We really liked this cabin/home! We have stayed in probably 5 different cabins for our family vacations, and this is our favorite so far. The furnishings are very comfortable, nice neutral tones, comfortable furniture, and plenty of room for everyone in our family of 5. The screened porches add a nice touch for bug-free outdoor relaxation. It is about a 15 minute drive from Somerset, where you can find about anything you would need to make the cabin your complete oasis. The homeowners have thought of most everything to make your stay as much like home as possible...well stocked kitchen (we were still finding new things when we were cleaning up to check-out), extra blankets for bedding or watching TV, or relaxing on porch. Washer and Dryer are provided (and have become a "must" in our cabin searches), meaning less packing of clothing needed. Very secluded. The kids really enjoyed the pools available, they were clean and plenty of room to relax or play (don't forget your own beach towels though). If you have a boat or 4-wheelers, the resort offers lockable storage units at the resort office for secure storage of your "toys". During our stay we enjoyed a trip to Lexington (1hr, 40 min.) for a minor league game and Kentucky Horse Park. To Cumberland Falls Park (40 min.), beautiful; and Corbin to original KFC (1 hour). Went fishing with conleystriper.com with Phil Glass on Lake Cumberland, where we caught our 4-person limit of stripers. Finally we enjoyed a day at Somersplash water park where everyone enjoyed themselves (30 min.) Reserve this cabin, we guarantee you will not be disappointed! We were nearly depressed to leave this very relaxing stay for us."

  • Home away from home!

"We stayed for 4 days w/our 2 kids, ages 4 & 13. The cabin is super clean and cozy, the pics truly don't do it justice! John & Queedie are very nice and have thought of everything to make your stay a pleasant one down to bird food for the feeder out front! We so enjoyed walking to the lake for swimming and hiking and then back to the cabin for family dinners. Mammoth Cave is only 10 minutes away. We had family dinners on the screened in front porch w/a lovely view of the mountain line and deer and turkeys entertained us in the evenings. There is a porch swing on the porch and in the backyard and the hammock offers a relaxing spot as well. There is a charcoal and gas grill, and the kids LOVED roasting marshmallows and telling stories around the fire pit. We pretty much stopped for groceries on the way in and spent our time enjoying each others company without the distractions of Internet, video games, and chores. This cabin retreat was just what our family needed!! We truly felt at home and would definitely come back again!"

  • Great House, Nice View

"This was a perfect house for some friends and I to spend a long weekend. The inside is well kept and updated with plenty of room for the five of us (and more if we'd needed it). We spent most of our time on the excellent back porch overlooking the lake and large, grassy yard. We'll definitely stay there again."

  • Just the right spot. Just the right place.

"My adult daughter and I stayed at the cabin for a long weekend father-daughter trip. It was a short drive to both Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge for hiking, which we did plenty of. There is not much for supplies nearby, but hitting the next exit on the interstate got us groceries and supplies. The cabin seemed a bit small at first, but then it seemed just right. Back deck was nice for reading and listening to the rain and inside it was surprisingly warm and cozy. Sleep came easy. One thing that took us a while to catch was that the heater in the living room has a switch on the top/back of the right side of it, that turns it on. Once it turns on, it doesn't need to be on for long. It puts out plenty of heat and the cabin holds it well. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and had no trouble with what looked liked an old stove. We cooked both on the stove and in the oven and the food came out just fine. There is plenty of china and silverware. The small "dorm" sized fridge was the right size. The bathroomn is well done and interesting. Gave me some ideas for my own bathroom. Shower is plenty big and the is ample hot water and water pressure. I ended up folding out the couch for sleeping, though if more than one bed is needed, you might conside a blow-up one. Since there is no TV, which is a good thing, we ended up listening to the iPod, which was hooked in to a small amp, all weekend. There was a really good selection of good music on it. Some 6,000 songs. Just after we turned on to KY 77, we stopped for a load of firewood. There were 3 men selling dry wood and they were complete gentlemen. Did a nice job of loading wood in to the car and making sure we had ample kindling. Only issue was all the rain, which did not stop us from hiking, but did keep us from being able to make "Hobos" in the fire. Ended up making them in the oven, but it was not quite as much fun. Overall it was a great trip and we hated to leave. We got just what he hoped for out of the cabin."
